I think people will find the next winter sale much more appealing when buying cheaply from Russians day 1 isn't an option anymore.

As a "Steam Sale Veteran" I would have definitely gotten a few games that were on sale if they were available cheaper from Russians. At this point I have so many games that it just doesn't make sense to spend 10€+ on games that I'll either never play or might not enjoy as much as games I already have.

I guess it's good for my wallet (but it's all Steam wallet money anyway), but on the other hand hunting for the really cheap traders and bargains was always a big part of what made these sales enjoyable for me. :/

I'm not sure how this change will affect my Steam spending overall, but so far it looks like I will just spend most of my money somewhere else instead.

Don't you guys use Chrome? It keeps me logged in all the time and I never have to re-enter my password even when switching to a brand new OS or another PC. I love that it also auto-syncs all my installed Extensions (and their settings/content) without me doing a single thing. It's magic.

Ugh fucking papers please, I have to remember so many rules! And I have to do it quick or else I won't have enough money for my family! D: but I must protect the glory of Arstotzka!

Other then that, been playing Lords of the Fallen, they weren't kidding about very high being unstable, I can barely go outside the castle without the game nearly crashing. I've been lucky and performance hasn't been that bad.

PC gaming is awesome, this community is the best on GAF, and someday soon I hope to get back to work on my Steam backlog. Thank you all for the great times.

Gonna try dedicating 2014 to dealing with my backlog. Anyone got a good resource in terms of managing this you know? I'd like to be able to keep a more indepth track of what I'm playing than what Steam itself currently offers and such.

EDIT: Meant 2015, 2014 would have been a tad weird.

I've been using howlongtobeat. It's a pain to manually enter all of the games on my backlog, though. I tried to import my library once, but could not get it to work properly.

The reason I decided this is that I noticed during this sale I'm buying very little things, so I feel I've reached the point where I want to just try and tackle what I've got.

I use a spreadsheet.

I know I'm the exception but I like it. You can define your own layout.
You can for example categorize your games in genre, or in short game versus long game, or ...
And within a category you can define the order of playing.

I also color the cells to show which games are currently installed.

Personally I just picked games I was interested in at the time (and had the time to play) and ticked them all off on a spreadsheet one by one. I finished around 40 Steam games that way this year -- some 30 hours long, some as little as 1 hour.

But I hear Backloggery is good if you want to use a specialized tool for it.

I'm not going to lie, I felt a bit emotional when time was not kind to me and I had to be away from SteamGAF (and GAF in general) and when I got some time it felt very warm to the heart to see the same friendly "faces" I've met along this years saying "welcome". This is a great community and I truly respect every GAFfer. I just wanted to thank you all for all the help, the kindness, the conversations about everything. I hope I helped you out when you were in need of help, I hope you can forgive me if I let you down somehow, I hope you don't hate me simply because you don't like me or the way I talk. I am incredibly lucky because all those years I learned what really, really matters in life, just like the people I live everyday, my lovers, my friends, my family, you all also made a positive impact on my life, for good. I thank you all for your patience and friendship, for all the laugh and silly moments. There's so many different people in here, yet, I feel most of us learned something from each other. While that GG non-offer is weird I got TF for 2,99 from a (legit) German shop a while ago and it was on sale for 9,99 at a few places.
