LIZARD SQUAD is Back. Planning XBL Attack. "Biggest attack yet". [UP: XBL/PSN Down]

Status for me (London UK) is PSN is down completely, Xbox Live on Xbox One gives the impression it's up, but Game downloads drop to half a meg down for long periods and games I've never played before wont load, Minecraft Xbox One Edition is unable to generate an online world etc.

Neither service is without fault at the moment

damn i accidentally logged out of ffxiv. damn damn damn!

itt: xbl vs psn squabbles

also dafuq is with that one dude here approaching anyone who says "xbl is up for me"?

Finest Squad is likely Lizard Squad, and just part of their elaborate trolling.

The doxx that was released is likely fake, and has innocent people's information on it.

As for trying to use a botnet to ddos a botnet, it's feasible, but inefficient and wouldn't really work. DDoS works becase we;re talking about millions of PCs in the zombie botnet horde, all attacking one target. It's good at nuking a single space, it's not good at going after a wide, distributed setup like a botnet. It'd be like trying to swat flies using a cannon.

Well I did read an article (i forget what website) saying how a 17 year old canadian member of lizard squad was arrested. Could of been fake, makes somplete sense.

Sucks that out of the millions of gamers that play that nobody can help to fight these guys. Imagine, Xbox gamers and Sony gamers coming together to fight off the evil lizard squad. The xbox gamer hands his XB1 controller to the PS4 gamer, who than hands his dual shock 4 to the XB1 gamer. They smile at eachother, turn around, sit at there PC's, yell up at mom for more pizza rolls, than take down the hackers as one big happy gaming community.

Sorry I think im still a little drunk from yesterday.

I assumed that, but I just figured if they could hack such a large company with 10 or less people, how come so many gamers, which im sure some know how to hack, cant do it back to them? Someone else told me to re-read what a DDoS is, I appareantly need to. It just amazes me that these 10 people could continue to pull this off.

The biggest downer is the lack of responses from sony. I love my PS4 and Playstation in general but man...these generic responses and no sort of real communication is messed up. They need one of the big guys, to come out and release a statement. Say what happened, say why its still down, apologize, offer some sort of compensation even if its just 2 days of PSN(to make up for what was lost) and really thats it. That would be cool with me. The lack of anything but completely generic bullshit responses is sad.

I mean, considering nothing can be done and it's also Christmas time, it's reasonable to assume why they haven't officially released a statement. I'd expect something by Monday if this keeps occurring by then.

It's sad that BBC 5 Live doesn't broadcast to Omicron Persei 8.

All we get out here is 'Single Female Lawyer'...

and 'Law & Order'.

It makes me sad.

What side of the fence your on doesn't matter when the neighborhood is being nuked.

But might as well enjoy it by watching people having meltdowns.

It's not like anyone here can do anything about it.

edit: The outage finally gave me an opportuninty to play velocity2x, awesome game

I would be really annoyed if I got a console for Christmas and couldn't use it almost two days later. Not a huge deal(for me) overall, but a major annoyance.

Confused kid on the radio said:
I used to have a social life but I was no good at it. Then I just stayed at home on my own, with my computer.
It's worrying that he is actually the cliche that he was supposed to be.

Live is just better. Sony really screwed the pooch again here and hasn't learned from their mistakes as usual. Like Nintendo, Sony's circling the drain because of their shitty decisions.

I told everyone to get an Xbox and they didn't listen.

amazing .

Just because it's only a DDoS attack doesn't mean the people who did it don't know how to do more.

What I am extremely curious about is the part where they suggested the companies could have much better protection if they spent the money.

Lots of people in here saying "you can't protect against ddos", but I'd really like to read some informed information.

I pay Sony a lot of money for services and products, I expect things to work well. Psn has a terrible history of reliability, for example, and if there are things they /could/ be doing to help their network run more reliably and be better protected then I'd like to think they do all they can.

It doesn't seem like they do, though. I can understand why someone might want to being attention to that if true. I want the money I pay to help improve service, not just line pockets.

I've never heard of Stephen Nolan before, but he was stellar in this interview. Loved every minute he spoke and called these guys on their B.S.

Well I admit I kinda cringed when he said would you go round to a kids house and put a hammer through his ps4, because thats 'essentially' what your doing.

Reminded me of this old classic

It works for PS3. We know. It works for Vita. We know.

... What some of you don't seem to get is that it doesn't work for PS4 users.

How is that proof most everyone can login and use live OK? LOL 1 person is not exactly much proof. He said most everyone, 1 person is not most everyone.

XBL been fine for me the entire day(and my FL of gaffers), I'm posting this from it's browser right now after heavy sessions of halo/cod.

Well there are atleast 1074 people online an active on PSN....

http://bf4stats.com/

But then again they could be just be stuck at menus spamming the X button .

I've just been checking that site periodically, tells me all I need to know. Less soul crushing than failing to login.

Yea I was playing eariler then all my games went down. Can no longer load a single game because it says I'm not online when I'm clearly logged in.
Can you still send messages, use the store, etc? Everything working flawless here, been playing FH2 for the last 2 hours with zero problems.

This post makes no sense, I am not the one proclaiming live or PSn is fine.
As soon as someone said they got booted from gta on xbox you proclaimed live to be down. Remember?
And saying my post makes no sense? You seem so flustered that half of your post don't make any actual sense at the moment.

What they can pay for is bandwidth, you just make sure that you have more bandwidth than the DDoS attack can use. It's not something that you can really fight though.

I hope there will be anecdotal articles popping up on Facebook in a week proclaiming, "He was logged out of PSN and Live, You Won't Believe What He Did Next".
