Marvel's ANT-MAN Trailer #1

Wait am I missing something?

The whole trailer was a lead up to the joke, it's an intentional let's make it seem all super gritty and intense just to have Paul Rudd make the name joke.... That's the joke

the joke kinda falls flat because there's still this dramatic, heroic music in the background while Scott's all "huh?"

It really would have delivered better if they just stopped the music. I really don't think it's a problem for the movie because it's still obvious what they're going for, but for the presentation of the teaser it's a slight misstep and conveys that the audience should be taking "Ant-Man" seriously even if the hero doesn't.

Went on too long. For proper execution, see Guardian's "... who?" teaser.

Thinking on it, they might have done this deliberately to make it seem a little different to GotG.

I guess?

I thought it was fine and keeping in line with their marketing so far like the ant size teaser and the poster.

It's really not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. But there's hyperbole all over the place with this movie so far. I think it's just something that could have elevated the teaser from decent to good.

I thought it was a bland trailer compared to some of the great teasers Marvel have given us but I'm sure the movie will be entertaining.

Did people somehow forget the ENTIRE Iron Man 3 marketing campaign that portrayed the film as a dark revenge tale between Stark and the Mandarin, only to do the complete opposite with the film? Relax.

Now THIS was fucking COOL

if this were the official teaser instead it would have been way more effective
I generally prefer teasers that show a short continuous scene and not just flash random stuff.

A teaser that really introduces us to his shrinking power would have been better.

I don't think anyone is stressed out about it.

We're reacting to a trailer and it was underwhelming. No one is saying it's indicative of the final product

On further reflection, Marvel not using Disney's "It's A Small World After All" in the background of this is criminal.
Goddammit, now I want this in the next trailer.

Also, the more I watch this trailer, the more I love it. Guardians was advertised as hilarious but it secretly had feels. Ant-Man may be the other way around.

It's pretty obvious that the tone of the trailer is dark(er) because the second AoU trailer is out next week. Making sure that when people watch that trailer they are reminded of Ant-Man. Even though it might seem every Marvel film is a sure hit they are still dealing with very risky properties so it's a smart marketing move making the first trailer a bit darker.

I don't see how this film is going to definitely be super dark and edgy based on one trailer when every single thing about it from cast to director to replacement directors has always been about the comedy.

Fan edit trailer was 100x better. Movie seems like it could be good, but the teaser just used the music inappropriately.

It's the Iron Man 3 fakeout all over again.

I was actually kind of interested in the Mandarin and that's what made me want to see the movie.

For the record, I fully expect a scene like this to be intact in the final film. If not, then you can get your hands on some Pym Particles and serve me up a giant crow to eat.

In the teaser when the guy is thrown by Lang through the window, you can see that the guy is being thrown by his tie just like in the test footage.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that parts of the test footage action will be redone for this.

Yeah, I agree. I think there should have been a slight score change but that fan-edit gets it horribly wrong.

Nah, you missed the point I think. This is Marvel showing that it's not going to be a bog-standard origin story, where smart quips are made every 5 minutes. Undoubtedly the film will have some, but this teaser shows some emotion with his daughter. The joke still works, but I don't think the entire teaser is the set-up.

Yep. People seem to be missing this.

Also, whoever thinks Reed has no style needs to watch Down With Love.

Christophe Beck is scoring this film. He was the main composer for Buffy seasons 2-4, lots of genius work. He scored Once More With Feeling. Very excited.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Obviously this cannot be the case. How dare you even suggest it.

Yep which is why it's weird some people are clinging to the test footage as if it's now some long-lost treasure that's never going to be realized in the movie. There's a clip right there that you've pointed out in the trailer that very much looks like a completed version of the test footage fight.

Should they have used that scene more prominently in the teaser? Sure, but who knows how much of the post-production is complete at this point.

He also did Frozen, if my memory serves me correct.

Down with Love and Bring it On are alright movies in my book. All I hear about Yes Man though is that it was apparently horrible?

Well, they can't all be winners.
It was more of pointing something out than being negative. I actually liked Frozen (I preferred the likes of Big Hero 6 & Wreck-It Ralph, but Frozen was still enjoyable for me).

I've caught shit on this board before for suggesting Down With Love is really good movie.

It's still a really good movie. Fun as hell.

The Buffy score isn't really that great IMO. It has a couple of amazing pieces ("Moment of Happiness" and "Magic Snow"), but most of it is pretty forgettable. Frozen's score isn't bad though. I'm fairly optimistic that he'll do a good job for Ant-Man. Better than John Debney, that's for sure.

Looks like a movie I guess. Not feeling it so far, hopefully the movie is more interesting than the teaser makes it out to be.

I think this will ne the start of Marvell's fall. Ant-man is stupid. The name is stupid and his gimmick is stupid. Can anyone hete describe his significance toward the avengets?

How is this going to fit into the marvel universe we already know? Ant-man, hank, Pym haven't been mentioned at all in any other movie.
