Edit: I keep getting the first post of new pages lol, not on purpose
You guys better fucking let Syriza gain control this time. Rooting for them from the Netherlands, the Greek people deserve it.I am Greek and my Prime Minister Antonis Samaras is there.
He used the terrorist attack to gain votes for the upcoming elections that take place in 14 days. Now he is there, marching against terror while he brings terror to so many families and people. What a fucking joke he is.
I admire all those people that are there and have nothing to gain. No votes, no money or glory.
I have no idea what that says, but if it proves my point wrong then I stand corrected.
It reads : Mahomet, overtaken by radicals " it's though to be loved by idiots "
AFP: #BREAKING: Up to 1.5 million at Paris march against terrorism: organisers
Yes, everyone gets ridiculed. It doesn't matter what political persuasion, religion, belief system you hold. You WILL be ridiculed. Feminists, MRA, Jews, Chritians, Muslims, Conservatives, Liberals. No one is immune. No one. We have that right so that we can keep everyone accountable for their actions. It's the way the west works, it's why we're such good places to live.
Derp. I was like 'overflowing with fundamentalists??'
no, not really.
one of Charlie Hebdo's cartoonists got fired and put on trial for making a joke about Jews.

It's just humor, if they can't handle it they should not live in a country which hails this as a right. While I agree radical Muslims can fuck off, all muslims are being made fun of.
no, not really.

I think you mean " overwhelmed ", no ?
And then the courts decided he shouldn't have been fired, because that's how the justice system works.

Charlie Hebdo made fun of everyone regardless of their political stance or religious beliefs.
They do not have an anti Muslim agenda, but that won't prevent some from attempting to cry for victimization.
no, not really.

Let's not go to "like or leave it" jingoism. Muslim citizens are as just as French as Christian citizens.

Surely Muslims have a right to be bothered by it and voice why? Taking action to suppress or stop it is a different matter entirely and shouldn't tolerated. That was not my point, at all. My point is that CH are entitled to mock anyone they please, and so are everyone by the way. Muslims should not have a problem with that.

Well they sure can be bothered but that's about as far as it should go. Whether or not they like to be mocked is completely irrelevant. Why not, exactly? I know only a few people who are immune to mockery.
Oh I agree with the apathy thing. Although I do think there are some sacred cows that people would turn out to support. One of the only thing I could see uniting british people like this would be something like the NHS.Yeah, unfortunately the anti-war demonstration was completely ignored despite the size and we can't even get the sodding chilcot report (an already nerfed report). Which has taken the steam out of the country I think, more are apathetic now as they know their voices will not be heard even when shouted.
We do hold it in as a people and tend to historically explode, the dissatisfaction and apathy comes to a head but not very proactive and aggressive in defending ourselves like the French. We get laws passed to spy on us without just cause with barely a whimper, all in the name of shit like terrorism. Already seeing scaremongering from intelligence agencies on how there are so many attacks waiting to happen, all to help justify (ironically) the taking away of our liberties. Even though you are waaay more likely to be killed by silly things like stairs.

Edit: I think the author of this was never fired.
So instead, perfect time to pull off some sort of epic White Collar heist? Here's the security plan:
Translation/tl;dr: Out of 5,000 policemen deployed in Paris, 2,200 will watch over the demonstration

Absolutely, but they can't do anything about it. Christians, Jews also do not appreciate Charlie's humor and they are equally entitled to voice their opinion.
So where does the magazine draw the line between freedom of speech and hate speech?no, not really.

They definitely can and even should, through the courts. This should be emphasized because that's how it's supposed to work. It's easy to say "everyone should be mocked" when one is part of the mainstream that has never had their lifestyle publicly questioned.

By the way the BBC's coverage today has been superb. Helps when you have a french speaker on the ground asking questions and translating.
Agree 100%.I think a very good line is the line between religion and race/ethnicity. Because religion is an opinion and opinions are open to be criticized, while race/ethnicity is what one gets without having a word in it.

But I was curious as to why there were double standards by the magazine in the case posted by ZiZ.
The BBC is top notch. I'm French, i live in Canada, and I mainly watch the BBC whenever i want to watch news on TV ( thank you UK VPN ).
I don't know why they get so much hate in the UK. I know a lot of english people say the BBC are just a bunch of leftists who's only mission is to brainwash the population lol
I don't really like the medias but i always feel like the BBC are doing a fine job. Even their website is top notch.
Very interesting.Which is what happened with Charlie Hebdo, it was constantly attacked in justice for its drawings (winning most of the cases).
Code:But I was curious as to why there were double standards by the magazine in the case posted by ZiZ.
As someone already posted:
1) There is a very stong (and partly criticized) protection of jews, which, as some drawings posted show, are not to be touched
2) There were internal discords in the journal itself.
BFMTV reports 2 million people, though I don't know if it's just Paris or France as a whole.a
