Resident Evil HD Remaster |OT| Rediscover the evil.

Yeah. Got it to run at 4K except there's a line border around the outside of the entire screen.

I've got that at 1080p :( I didn't think it'd be too distracting but it's starting to annoy me.

I died in 2 bites from normal zombies. This game seems harder than I remember, and I finished Real Survivor mode on the Gamecube. (Invisible enemies were too much for me, that infinite grenade ammo bug was fixed in the PAL release)

Xbox One pre-order unlocks have been Midnight EST for every game I've bought, but now it's suddenly Midnight PST for REmaster. Damn, I wanted to get some time in before I had to sleep. Did they make that change marketplace-wide recently, or is it just something oddly specific for this game?

Damn. No 120mhz option.

First impression.... game looks HORRIBLE with the widescreen aspect. Looks pretty good on standard.

first time ever playing this game. Jill or Chris? which would be easier/better for a noob.

Chris has a bit more health while Jill has two item slots. It really depends on what you want. Pack rat or not having to heal as often. Either works.

Jill is easier on noobs. And she is also better, as Chris's story is boring and a tad useless. But Jill's story is strong enough to make RE, one of the greatest games of all time. Chris is the shitty extra mode no one asked for. Jill's Scenario is Gaming Top 5 Material. Chris's is cheap DLC level.

Is the black crush/sharpening still present in the final build? I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this one but, is there an option to play the game with original backgrounds (without the upscale/smooth filter)?

Not unless someone replaces the texture (.tex) files, no.

I haven't been able to find an answer to this anywhere else, somehow, but... how do I change to the BSAA costumes?

I read that they were unlocked from the start a while ago, but don't know how to switch, unless it's done when choosing the character at the very start (which I don't think it is).

Push up on the d-pad while selecting character

It's done exactly this way. On the main character select screen as you begin a new game, simpy press UP or DOWN to select the costume.

You can only choose a costume at the beginning. When you finish a playthrough you'll finish and unlock a costume key to change costumes on the fly.

I have the following specs:

Intel 2600k
Nvidia GTX 670 4 GB
4 gb ram

How kind of performance can I expect out of the game at 1080p and max specs?

I made sure I installed it before i leave for work, so it will be ready to play when i'm back home, but from a quick glance at the files (Steam version), i couldn't find the preorder soundtrack and digital book. Does anyone know where they are located?

Im sure it has already been bitched about already but why do people on the east coast have to wait until midnight pacific to download on psn? It makes absolutely no sense

max everything. have 2500k and 7950. 60fps no dips. I think they use double buffer vsync though and it screws with my framerate. Vsync off is still locked at 60 but cutscenes have tearing. No tearing in gameplay though.

Also, mouse cursor is stuck on screen. I'm sure you've got a place or two to hide it on your monitor though.

Jill misses out on the pure maiden Rebecca.

Rebecca gets to shine in her own adventure, in the great RE0. Meanwhile Chris is still a useless piece of boring shit everywhere he goes. Skip Bland Man, and go straight for Jill aka RE's icon, new players. You can thank me later.

I've played this game at least ten times so I'm not exactly gunning to replay it the day of release, but I bought it to support a game I adore and installed it to see how I felt about the port.

There's a bit of visual jank, for sure. Stuff like the menu and map screens look kind of hastily thrown-together, and the treatment the backgrounds received is pretty uneven. The ones for cutscenes, especially. It won't be a deal-breaker for anyone who hasn't played the game before, probably. It sure is Resident Evil 2002, though!

In theory I'm glad a whole new generation of folks get to experience a genuine classic, but in practice I know I'll probably have to hit the bottle when I read impressions over the next few days.

I disagree with the notion that Chris' campaign is egregiously bad or whatever, but Jill -> Chris is generally your best bet for first time players. Having fewer item slots will be less painful when you already know where the item boxes are and how to effectively route your way through the mansion.

They are not "Hard, Normal, Easy!" The difficulties are "Normal, Easy, Very Easy!" The top was the default normal difficulty in the original game!

I like the quick response of new controls but it makes the game feel too easy and broken. Tank controls is playable but it's hard to resist using the new control setup. What to do...

Yeah. It's annoying, even back in PS1 days. Put the game on SSD hoping it would go by faster. Nope.

The animation has nothing to do with the speed or spec of your computer, it's simply a part of the game. On the previous page or so I linked to a Steam thread where someone has already made a mod that skips door animations, fading the game in and out between rooms.

Unless you're playing the PC version, either hope for a patch that adds the option, or deal with it.

Not really. The first difficulty sounds more like hard.

Which by implication makes it harder than the two other other difficulties below it. Common sense people. Hard/Normal/Easy, Normal/Easy/Very Easy. Does it matter? The point is it's pretty clear which order the difficulties range in.

Oops, too late. Already 1 hour in and I've beaten this on GameCube so I definitely don't mind cruising through this.

Holy shit, 23.2 gig?

On the Australian ps4 store it's listed as a bundle. That cant be the correct size can it? Dying light is showing at 18 gig lol.

Tips for a noob, is a the survival knife worth keeping on me? Seem to have a decent amount of bullets (33 atm) and I'd much rather have a shotgun than a knife and I need the key items on me as well.

I seem to have picked up too many items and i cant pick up items i need to progress... ugh.

Find an item box. I didn't know this either till now lol.

So how's the 16:9 zoom people? Is it bearable on an HDTV or should I stick to the old 4:3 picture?

As someone who's never played the game before, it honestly looks fantastic. Might irk a veteran the wrong way though.

I am running the PC version. Thanks. I'll use the mod once more people have verify it's stable and safe to run.

It is. I've used it myself. Run the game, alt+tab out, run the .exe and go back to the game. For some reason the next few doors I would have to press the interact button to skip the sequence, but after like 3 doors it just started doing it automatically. Good mod! Wis there was a more seamless way to implament it though.

I know I need to find one but I cant advance to an area with an item box because my inventory is full lol. I am right at the start of the game. Think I will save a couple times so I can free a slot.

I believe all you need is the mansion key. I'm surprised you filled up that fast though lol.

Then again, to get the mansion key you need the arrow thingy

Is everyone here playing widescreen or 4:3? I tried both but 4:3 just looks wrong on my nice TV, the widescreen pan/scan seems to be decent. I noticed the camera moves slightly depending on which direction you go
