New Nintendo 3DS & New Nintendo 3DS XL Launch Thread

Trying to plan out my launch. Not really a big 3D Zelda fan and not sure if Monster Hunter is for me so I've been looking at Ace Combat for its Amiibo support. I know it's a remake, but is it worth checking out? If not I might just rebuy Smash 3DS or just tough it out through Majora's.

I recall hearing good things about Ace Combat.

Really? I was playing MM at Nintendo World for like 45min. Never once did my thumb slide off.

Have you looked into maybe getting some stick-um and applying it to the c stick

Oh its not the c stick, of which I dont really like, could do with that being a bit more loose than hard.

Its the left thumb stick.
I dont have sweaty hands at all but theres little to no grip on the thing at all.

I dont want to ruin the look of the device with some stick um but I might have to if I cant get used to it.

PAL system is estimated to come 3/2. Was mad until I realize that the date is not that far from 2/26. Forgot February was a short month...

There are some silicon grips you can buy to put on the circle pad.

Okay boys and girls. Those of you with the non-XL version will be realizing that your new console won't fit in your OG 3DS case or pouch. Which is a ball-ache. However, I just got my new pouch through the post this morning, and it's rather lovely, so let me go ahead and recommend it:

That's the red version, but it's available in loads of colours. Officially licensed, very nicely padded, looks and feels great. Can't knock it.

Ah, glad it's a good pouch since I also have one on the way. Went for black myself since it'll be neutral with all faceplates and won't show dirt easily. Soon my n3DS can enter the wider world!

Do you have any "real-life" shots of it?

Honestly:

You can get the "old version" of the same game for less than half of what the + version would cost you....and the only thing you'd be missing would be Amiibo-support and the c-Stick.

I'd get the cheap old version of the game and use the 20+ $ /€ to buy something from the eShop. Thats far better bang for your buck.

link is broken?

problem is this manager is a tempt and doesn't give a fuck. The old manager was pretty cool about stuff.

they aren't even having a midnight launch.
Go to GameStop. Purchase a $200 New 3DS XL
Take your system home, go through the transfer process
Take your existing system and your new system back to GameStop
Return your new system for a full refund of $200
Trade-in your existing system for $100
Rebuy your New 3DS XL, use the $100 credit to pay for half the purchase
Update: A GameStop manager in the comments stated you should be able to just bring in your receipt instead of the new system, and remember the new system doesn't come with a power cable, so you'll need to either buy another one or take a $10 hit on the trade-in value.
This is pretty much how Gamestops are going to handle everything if they follow their own guidelines.

Just a little question for any of you 3DS owners that have had their machines for a while now.

I own an Ambassador version of the N3DS and today I noticed that I have a small scratch on the top screen. It's located at a point when the raised frame of the bottom screen could be in contact with the top screen. This 3DS has literally had about 3h's of total play time since I got it as I've been treating it with kid gloves.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Is this just a continuation of the screen scratching that plagued the original 3DS. To say I'm a little peeved is an understatement.

Just got my shipping notification that my Monster Hunter LE n3DS is shipping. Sadly, I will be out of town until Tuesday and so that next day shipping was a waste. Have to leave town suddenly and so my neighbor will get the package for me.

will i be able to get one on launch day by walking in the store? i keep hearing about sell outs

I think it depends on what store you are planning to go to. Gamestop probably won't have any, but a place like Best Buy or Target or TRU probably will. Unless you are looking to get one of the LE systems, those will definitely be gone everywhere by tomorrow morning.

If the screwdriver sits all the way in the grooves and stays there while you are turning, it is fine. If it is not properly seated or comes out of the grooves when you start to turn, stop. You'll only strip the screws if you keep trying to turn when it's not seated properly.

Hmm. Thanks. This is exactly what I needed.

Had my New 3DS for a few weeks now (ambassador edition) and you know what, I think, it's my favourite Nintendo handheld to date.

So I had an original 3DS (still have it, I managed to get the system two days early than EU launch) which I replaced with an XL due to the hand cramps it gave me. I had some reservations about going back to the smaller unit but, I have had no issues with hand cramps what so ever. In fact, I'd go on to say that this is the perfect size for my hands (just average hands I guess) and I find the system a joy to play.

The new 3D is actually pretty effective, I am not a big 3D fan, I don't often use it but when I have I have been impressed with the stability of it. The graphics look much nicer on this smaller screen than the larger XL.

Furthermore, I have played the 3DS a lot more since getting the system despite having no new games to play! I have played a lot more Animal Crossing and Pokemon X, just because of this system. The speed of the system is noticeably quicker when doing anything on MiiVerse or the eShop. The system feels well built and the faceplates fit much better than I thought, I originally thought they may feel a little flimsy, with gapes on the sides because the top plate just clips into place but no, they feel really nice.

Feel free to ask any specific questions.

So am I reading this correctly that the new 3DS c-stick is support in Kid Icarus? Does that mean I can play it like "dual analog" and not have to use the touch screen to move the camera?

If so that might push me to get the new 3ds. I was on the fence, but I had stopped playing that game (and i loved it) because of the controls.

So excited. My don't have a backlog on any other system except this one. I'll be tackling my backlog on the 3DS for months to come.

Sexy Red paint fade. All shiny. The thing that impresses me the most is the 3D. I always play it on full blast and I tried MM3D at best buy on it. It was amazing. No ghosting. The Odolwa's sword popped like 3" out of the screen lol.

Now to call nintendo to transfer my digital purchases since I don't have my old 3DS (but do have its serial number). Wish me luck.

If you are already using a MicroSD via an SD card adapter in your source 3DS system, choose 'No' here. If you chose 'No', the system transfer process will be extremely easy as you will only have to take out the microSD card and put it into your New 3DS system once the transfer is complete. If you chose 'Yes' (because you're using a SD card or MiniSD card in your source 3DS), you will be taken to the next step.

Wait this confuses me, I upgraded my 2ds to my new 32gb micro sd that I plan to use in my new XL. So do I choose yes or no here, it reads to me as both.

My source to me would be the 2ds and I would be transferring to the end? 3ds XL?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm so torn between the new black and the monster hunter edition.

Ugh, the MH one looks cool but the black one looks classy and sleek and less like a kids toy.

Do you have the MH one pre-ordered? If not, that may make your decision for you.

Choose no at the screen because you have a MicroSD, not a regular or miniSD (they're different).
