I don't know how much awareness there was for the PS3 version, but it performed even worse than than the PS4 version. Significantly, from what I remember.

That was probably expected too, given the significant drop in last-gen software the moment the new stuff started selling.

Oh I agree with you, it's just what is publically facing data.

And given what little other information forum goers have and do not have access to, I just didn't want to see the significance of MS mentioning it to be dismissed out of hand as "spin" when in reality, people should pay attention to it.

I think most of us paid close attention and surmised that Microsoft's statement means there was more PS4 software sold in the USA in January. And since this is Xbone's best market, it means it's getting absolutely slaughtered everywhere else. Which is probably more relevant information for publishers than attach rate.

Real talk, I didn't see a single commercial here in the states for Driveclub. Even Friggin Sonic Boom had a commercial. I mean, I doubt that it would have made a huge difference, but Sony didn't even try.

Alan Wake was a disappointment for MS, so it will be interesting to see if Quantum Break can perform significantly better.

Driveclub didn't get any marketing at all in NA. I think Sony knows that games sales are going to come from EU market.

MS is in a rough situation regardless of the price drop.

- Word of mouth on MCC is negative I mean the game even has a bad score on Amazon and I thought that was impossible.
- They have nothing coming out for the system that would remotely drive sales till the Holidays.

Yeah sounds about right.

Yeah... They would've had a tough enough year without the inconsistency of the price in January.

I was just referencing the interview where they said something to the effect of "we don't know why it's so successful" :p but yeah their release strategy in 2014 was smart

March - Infamous
May - MLB
July - TLOU:R
October - Driveclub
November - LBP3

Even if all that the GTA bundle was their best move, it covered for The Order delay and kept them competitive during the holidays.

I think The Order will do much better in a less crowded month, specially it being a new IP. Win-win for Sony.

Still plenty of fanboys wishing for Nintendo's demise I see,

Without Ninty Sony wouldn't have entered the console race and then Microsoft wouldn't have either.

So anyone thinking a slim version at E3 this year for both? If both are $299, is it even possible for the Xbox to win a month this year?

In 2016, they could have 16/14nm versions of their SoCs which should significantly reduce power consumption and would allow for a slim model. It's possible they do 20nm chip revisions, but I don't know if there's an impetus to do that when both consoles seem so reliable this go around.

Most Walmart's in my area are still selling the regular PS4 sku and have not received from the warehouse and or placed the TLOU bundles on shelves; clearing out that old stock... Not sure about th e rest of the country, but the bundle would have had little to no impact on sales...

Quantum Break has potential, but everything they've shown so far hasn't exactly blown people away. October/November/December will be the most interesting as usual anyway, X1 with Halo 5 and Tomb Raider probably, PS4 with Uncharted 4 and... something I'm probably forgetting/not announced yet.

who to believe?

Would I lie?

No it didn't. PS4 won that month and by a pretty good margin.

So going from 141k in January to 258k in February to 311k in March is not helping? ok

I believe Quantum Break is the type of game with much greater mass appeal than Alan Wake.

It certainly could be but I don't see as of right now. It'll be a very solid title but people aren't going to be rushing out to buy X1's for it, in my opinion.

You're not familiar with Dragonborns thoughts on every Xbox One exclusive this year? lol

hint: they're all nothing special/gonna suck

Glad to hear the Order is looking good (I assume you guys mean preorder numbers?)

Think I AM gonna get it day one. Hype is too strong for it, don't wanna miss out.

Yes, because I only think that about X1 games. QB is a game like the Order, or Until Dawn, or heck, even Persona. They're great games, but they don't have the draw the masses enough to sell systems in any significant manner.

The reason I think the PS4 is going to take Feb isn't just because it has an exclusive game out, but also because it's a PS4. That's why it's selling so far. Sony has done an excellent job of marekting, and people want to buy a PS4 not just for exclusives, but because it's become the go to console to play multiplat games as well. The two factors work together

If the tables were turned and it was the PS4 struggling, I would say the same thing about pretty much every exclusive titles outside of the big system selling ones like GT, Uncharted, and God of War.

When I say QB won't move systems, I'm not saying "nothing special". That's you putting words in my mouth. I can tell you one thing for certain, I'm not the least bit biased in this regard. QB was one of the reasons I bought my X1 and I'm going to play the hell out of it, but I'm not going to let my own personal excitement lead me to believe that it's going to be this huge system seller.

Sure, it may be. I just don't think, at the moment, that it will be.

"1. The X1 will collapse after a strong Dec, MS will keep the price at $350."

The X1 sales did collapse, hence MS kept the price at $350. So I don't see how I was wrong? Sure, we'll never know how much they collapsed, but egh, I think it's safe to assume they did, no? It's been a while but that was my thought process back then.
