The Order: 1886 Gets New Direct-Feed Screenshots From Obama

Agreed. ND should learn from it as well. Those cutscene transitions are often jarring too.

The only problem I have with cutscene transitions like this is that they aren't meant for every type of scene. Some scenes can work with this type of transition but I don't think the large majority are.

To give an example. I think the transitions shown in your gifs are more oriented towards cutscenes which layout what you have to do next and then kind of give you the playing field. So, that transition makes sense both from a gameplay perspective and a cutscene perpsective. But if you start putting those transitions after every cutscene,it starts to feel out of place.

Why in the world is this game over 40 GB on PSN????

I wanna download it but my internet is just too damn slow for 40GB+

24 is my personal limit ..... Injustice at 22 gb took me 6 days with my PS4 in rest mode constantly.
Why would you want to download it over having a physical copy? Given the state of your interment connection, downloading games seems silly.

Absolutely. Platinumed the game a few days ago and I still love everythin in this game. The nazi voiceacting is so perfect.
New Order? One of my favourite FPS of all time. And I've been playing those since Wolf 3D.
Another game that begs a sequel.
Just stopped playing for the night. Probably one of the best FPS I've played in years (ignoring multiplayer-centric titles).

If you would of said 2013,I would of believed you, maybe, but 2003...? c'mon lol...

Hey Ricker, I know you were looking forward to my review for this but sadly, Sony won't return any emails to my editor and so it's looking like we won't get a review request, so I was told no review to write. Sorry man.

Physical copies where I live is expensive and never drop in price ... So most of the time I end up waiting for PSN deals or until playasia comes up with a deal and PA literally takes years to give deals.

I only buy physical copies where I live for must play games/ favorites.

Then you better not even think of getting The Witcher 3 or MGSV TPP digitally.

Live in a dark corner of Asia.

My ps download speed hovers between 256-956 kbps .. 1mbps if I'm lucky.

Ah the situation is understandable. Digital gaming for you this gen is going to be painful then. The game files are really just too big to be downloading at 1 mbps. It'll take forever to downlod at that speed.

Hence why I'm a single player only gamer, not that bad, I enjoy single player games far more .. It's just the download speed that's frustrating.

I can get a faster speed if I want, but I can only get 80 GB or 110 GB as an allowance at 20MBPS and once that finishes up they cut the speed all the way to 64kbps! ... I'm hesitant to use that because I have a feeling with online gaming/downloading games/movies/streaming I'll finish up the allowance in no time ... especially since my parents will be using the internet as well.

Does online gaming/streaming YT vids eat up a lot of GB?

Sleeping Dogs took me 4 days to download, so thats not too bad for me. It's funny because my regular dl speeds are capped like crazy on my connection, but my ISP seems to have forgot about the PS4 and I get max speeds on that :D .. my torrents are at an average of 10kbps and 30-60kbps during off peak hours

Some of the transitions in 1886 are like this but I wish RAD made all of the gameplay to cutscene transitions like MGSV; no camera cuts, just smooth camera rotations from cutscene to gameplay/vice versa. Completely removes the jarring aspect of quick cuts into scenes appearing out of nowhere in other games and 1886.

That rotating camera to gameplay thing is like the new zoom in to the back of the character's head while going to first person that a lot of games used to do, really overused in MGSGZ and seemingly TPP. Uncharted 3 and AC:Unity both have way better transitions imo as they go into gameplay as an action in a cutscene is occurring, like the character running as the cutscene ends and the gameplay starts instead of the character being static. Can't recall an instance in the last of us where it quick cuts to gameplay instead of transitioning naturally.

Hard for me to say it's overused when Kojima is really the only one using this style, and even then you're also comparing slower cutscenes in MGS vs. the action scenes in Unity or UC3, so I don't really see them being better as opposed to just different due to the nature of the cutscenes.

Both Unity, UC3, and TLOU suffer the sudden transitions of gameplay into cutscenes though. You'll be exploring or running and out of nowhere a cutscene triggers without easing you into it, with completely different character placements and movements. In MGSV Kojima eliminated this kind of camera cut.

Unity does this, too, here and there (e.g. the start of sequence 6 -- the camera follows Arno out of the house and then pulls back to the game's usual third-person perspective). It's definitely a nice touch.

Can I switch shooting to R1 instead of default R2? I hate R2 as primary and can't play well with that. This should be default switchable on all shooters.

The impressions have been solid. Good to see a game that's bug free and doesn't have to be patched mtiple times to get to a playable form. Good job RAD.

You guys are crazy that want to shoot with anything other than L2 :p

But options are always a good thing. In a perfect world you could bind any command to any button

Hey guys, quick question:

I've never pre-ordered games on PSN and my broandband isn't really that fast but I was wondering if it still might be worth it to pre-order via PSN instead of buying at retail as retail release dates are rarely met in South Africa.

How many days in advance can one start preloading the game on PSN?

Usually 48 hours advance minimum. Sometimes longer

Many cutscenes in Last of Us have quick cuts both before the start and end of gameplay segments, some even have short cuts to black. Ground Zeroes on the other hand is one continuous smooth transition from start to end of gameplay, it's very impressive and much more immersive.

That is really jarring. Can't believe I never noticed that in the last of us. In both Unity and Uncharted 3 both games transition smoothly to gameplay from a cutscene, Unity especially, they don't do quick cuts into gameplay, really fast zoom ins during the start of the blackbox missions and the occasional short loading screen when a new scene is loading up but other than those exceptions the camera always follows the character into gameplay. In MGSV you see the problem of Snake sliding into place before the cutscene begins if he's not in the correct position.

MGSV has cuts to black as well when the location is changed. There are also quick cuts present in the game. Most noticeably in the ground zeroes mission.

The only other single player shooter I played recently was Wolfenstein, which I really loved.

Can someone who has played both tell me how The Order compares in terms of enjoyment and gameplay?

Thanks.

The smoke effect from that bomb he tossed was pretty cool. I like how it lingered around a while and then slowly faded.

I still don't understand why every games controls aren't fully customizable, it seems like such an easy thing to implement.
