What do you MEAN it's out now?

Well it is! And I may as well make it an OT, BECAUSE... I don't think anyone claimed it and felt it was needed. The game on Google Play officially came out yesterday on February 25th, 2015.

I made the post at SonicStadium here which you can check out if you'd like, but in short, it's out on Android, but some can't download it, and some who do get a maintenance message.

You can click install on the Play store even without any eligible devices, it will bring up a drop down menu with your phone with the message "This item cannot be installed in your device's country."

Which leads to the obvious question: Is there a US release date?

The game is pretty laggy on my Z2 and Sonic has a bit too much weight to his jumps (but you can triple jump so I guess it's not that big of a deal).

Also it's weird that if you hit an enemy or spikes you lose rings but if you just run into a wall the stage will end. It seems like you don't have to get to the end of the stage to progress as long as you have enough rings so that's good.

It's definitely a region thing. On my LG G2, on my US account, it says incompatible with my device. On my JP account, I was able to install it fine on the same device.

Downloaded on my iPhone. It's downloading more data in-app now I'm digging the looks, even if I'm not a Sonic fan. Weird, it's completely in English.

You can change your iTunes region effortlessly, you only need a postcode of your target city. I change between Mexico, Japan, US and New Zealand all the time, so I have early access in cases like this

There's a "Streamlined Mode" setting in the options that's supposed to increase performance but it doesn't seem to have much of an effect on my Z2. I'm guessing the game still hasn't been optimized very well and that's why it's on a limited release right now.

Just before I was about to fight the second boss, the game interrupted me with a bunch of banners and asked me to log into Facebook. That was annoying enough that I think I'm not gonna keep playing. Not a big endless runner fan anyway. Plus I'm tired of thumbing through dialog at every turn.

Yeah, it's a shame. The core game is decently fun, but the F2P nature is extremely annoying. Menus, banners, currencies, gifts, roulettes, etc.

I don't mind IAP games, but if they're going to continually shove "offers" in my face, I think I'm just going to pass on the game entirely.

It's one thing to have it there should you want to support the developers and purchase in-game currency/items, but another entirely for the developers to continually harass you with advertisements. If it's the latter, I won't even give this one a download.
