lol @ 5:13. Classic Elzar. I see many helicopter-related deaths in Shadowsfell's future :D

I saw the gator tonight! It just came out of the marsh and started coming at me. I just shot at it a bit, it dived and disappeared.

The gators are funny. Easy to see in this gif because I zoomed in, but in practice it just looked like a log or something. Scared the shit out of me.

The entire Everglades mission in the campaign reminded me of Far Cry 3 and 4. Because I was pissing myself scared at getting jumped by a hidden gator.

I saw a few scurry away on the Everglades map and immediately went "... I think I'll just go around the water"

Who will take your place as dedicated helicopter crasher? Tough job for whoever tries to fill your shoes. Quite the legacy.
I think I can do that. I've barely been able to get off of the ground 99% of the time. Elzar was a stunt pilot in that video compared to me.

I can't get over how much fun this game is. It is a shame that so many people are going to dismiss it because of timing, not being Dice, etc.

Agreed, it's a shame. In some respects I can understand the apprehension - BFH isn't really a step forward, more of a sidestep in a slightly different direction. For me, BF4 kind of made BF3 irrelevant as I felt like it improved on BF3 just about every way. Hardline by comparison doesn't make BF4 irrelevant at all IMO because it kind of has a different focus, and I wouldn't say it improves on BF4, just gives it a different flavor if that makes any sense.

At any rate, with each day Hardline is digging it's claws deeper and deeper. Gotta give it up to Visceral, they came up with some really fun MP modes. I've haven't even tried them all but Blood Money, Hotwire, and especially Heist are really friggin awesome to play.

The game is just something fresh. Its more that i am abit tired of BF4 after all these hours. And i dont see myself playing BF4 until Battlefront comes. Wich can be 8 months.
The game does some good things and some small bad things. Gun balancing and the TTK on some guns. But that is just tweaking. Hope they listen and patch fast. Will help the game alot.

Also for the first time i have the feeling that the new game modes really add something new and extra. Heist, Hotwire and Bloodmoney are good gamemodes and i see those modes been played alot next to CQ.

Decided to jump in and order this on PS4

Despite it not being out till tomorrow in the UK i got it delivered early

So far i've only played the MP but my god the first thing i noticed was the hit detection and how it now ACTUALLY WORKS

I almost cried tears of joy! i fired my gun at people and they actually DROPPED DEAD! i was getting kills left right and centre!

This alone has made the game far far FAR more enjoyable than BF4...now don't get me wrong i love BF4 but this is a whole new ball game

Game itself is really fun and doesn't take itself seriously it's a bit like Bad Company

Only downside on PS4 is the graphics are a step back from BF4 and the frame rate at times is quite janky other than that i'd say a solid 8/10

Fuck me, the ACWR is laughably OP.

It's a good starter gun but the M16 and the M416 are considerably better. The spread on the ACWR really hurts it agaisnt those 2.

What I want to know is what Visceral was thinking when they balanced the Battle Rifles... they need a buff or something because that crazy recoil is real and the extra bullet damage doesn't seem like a good enough trade off.

I can't believe how much fun this game is! I can believe all the GAF threads about the graphics and none about how much fracking fun it is. It feels like a combination of my 3 favorite franchises GTA/BF/R6. Crosshairs felt like I was playing a good R6. Hell even the graphics felt like an old R6, hehe. But seriously...

if you don't enjoy Hotwire you are dead inside.

WHAT A FUCK? When i preordered game on PSN it said that release date in March 20th. Then it changed to March 17th. It released on 17th i played couple of days no problem. TImer on preorder bonuses didn't change and said 20th. No big deal. But now i wanted to play and there is a fucking preorder timer and game won't launch, And i have to wait 2 hours for it to maybe unlock. Lol what? Why is this a thing? I already played for 2 days. Lol.
Restoring licenses didn't help.
Should i wait or is there some workaround?

I remember my copy of Call of Duty fucking up like this and I basically had to reinstall.

You could just wait to see what happens though.

Would like to try a free weekend of multiplayer at some point. One of the streamers that I typically watch is enjoying it, but I don't normally buy Battlefield games.

Blood money and heist are my favorite modes everything else is too call of duty like, with spawn point in front or behind an enemy in order to create action and everything being like a big death match. I hope rainbow 6 does not fall victim to that same call of duty virus.

Heist is fantastic. Rescue is awesome. I almost exclusively played 64 player conquest on BF4 and have barely touched it yet here. I still want to though.

I was really on the fence about it and figured I might regret it, but I'm having a fantastic time, and the net code is great. I'm playing on Xbox one by the way.

Finally got the game and started the prologue while the full game downloads.

Am I the only one who thinks Stoddard looks just like Delsin's brother from Infamous SS lol

Hot Wire isn't my favorite, but damn can you make some money in that mode. I'm pretty awful at it and I still make way more money compared to the other modes.

I've read a few reviews, and this is what I gather the multiplayer is like:

- Faster than BF4, but still not as quick as say Cod

- Maps are hit and miss, with some being ill-suited to 64 players

- Vehicles are less important and powerful compared with BF4

Any other problems with the multiplayer? Ignoring some maps being a bit crappy, it seems perfect for me. Much prefer infantry, but CoD has always been a bit small and twitchy. So close to picking it up...

I played for the first game last night and in both matches had what felt like a controller drift issue that made me feel like I was constantly moving against a tide. It was fine in single player so I'm guessing it was a server problem?

Also, is it just me or is the deployment screen janky? Sometimes there's a countown, sometimes not and I often finding myself having to hit A 3 or 4 times before I actually deploy.

If like to play more infantery in BF4 instead of playing vehicles then you will like this game. As foot soldier there is so much less that can kill you. Still need to watch out offcourse but you dont have to have vehicle to dominate. Wich i like.

Maybe the Hacker gave you fast deploy? :)

People have to learn to spot every enemy they see that is somewhat at a distance. I feel like I'm spotting and sniping half the opposing team most of the time.

I need a way to learn to fly the helicopter. Maybe BF4 training? I tried it once. Things blew up.

The things that blew up were helicopters.

Played the game for the first time tonight. Ended up playing for a couple of hours straight.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I've already have had a ton more fun with this than I did with all my time in BF4...and to think I was extremely sceptical of Hardline even after the beta.

Started of really badly in a couple of Heist rounds so we decided to go with some small conquest games to get a feel of the game and maps.
Haven't had this good a time with a BF game since Bad Company 2!
It's still early days though, but if today is anything to go by, this will be my go-to game for a long time to come. :)

Everything just seems to work, which is sad in and of itself that this should be surprising, yet it is.
And I absolutely love the fact that the game doesn't take itself serious at all. Tons of little touches that just add to the fun feel of it all.

Really glad I decided to give the series one last chance.
It's a real shame that DICE shit the bed with BF4 and as a result, Hardline might not sell up to expectations. I'm really hoping that's not the case though as the developer really pulled of something special here.

Oh and I don't know where the "this game looks ugly as fuck" comes from. Playing on PS4 and it looks really good. Around the same as BF4. Perhaps not as good in some spots, but certainly nicer in others. :-/

The Glades map looks like hot ass...definitely looks like an old game. PS4 btw. Fun so far but yea a step back in visuals and I didn't think the beta looked too bad.

Out of curiousity, what did you dislike about Battlefield 4?

A ton of stuff. Especially on the technical side, but also quite a few on the design decisions.
Don't really feel like going over all of it again since I've waisted the better half of the past year and a half complaining about everything that annoyed me about the game.
Don't want to ruin the good mood I'm in right now by thinking about that steaming pile anymore. ;)

There is a weird glitch going on with me that I can't find the answer to.

For some reason, I cannot shoot the .38 snub or the Desert Eagle, no matter how many times I press the shoot button. This also happened to me in the beta. I can shoot every other gun just fine, but the snub nose and the deagle I just can't get it to shoot. It's so weird and so random I don't know what to do lol.

Disclaimer: BF4 is one of my favorite multiplayer games that I still play regularly. Bad Company 2 and BF3 were also among some of my favorite games.

That said, here is short summary of my experience with the game on PS4 after five hours or more of game-time (Conquest) with it.

• The game looks like a Call of Duty game in an open world environment. Sometimes the engine reminded me of playing a Valve game.
• Graphics are worse than BF4: reminding me (on some maps) of the color pallet used on many Xbox 360 games.
• Gameplay is a mixture of Call of Duty, the BF4 class system, blended together in an open environment with hardly any destruction.
• Hardly any destruction: the game is more like Call of Duty because of this decision. A lot of choke points are created due to not having the ability to blow up walls to get rid of stationary players. I personally don't enjoy being forced to play a BF game like Call of Duty. Destruction is one of the main things that separates Battlefield from Call of Duty.
• Character control seems off at times compared to BF4: I don't know if its the animations, but the the medic class seems not as responsive as the BF4 medic class.
• Sometimes, taking down a player is on par bullet wise with BF4. Other times, taking down a player seems to take too many hits. Maybe a lag problem?
• Most maps are either too big or too small for conquest.
• Missing the ability to shut off music in the vehicles.
• Not enough maps at launch for conquest.

Its a good game, made for people that like Call of Duty type gameplay in a Battlefield world. It probably leans more on the BF side of things in some ways.

So I played for about 2 - 3 hours today... WTF is up with people not reviving? The defibs/revive was the first thing I bought.

Second what is with people camping everywhere? I'm trying to get objectives and people just hiding in corners everywhere.

It's a fun game but.. it definitely gave me a little twitch in my eye

I'm picking the game up after work tomorrow. Can't wait to try the new modes.

Stuff like Obliteration did not interest me at all in BF4. Were there other new modes at launch? The things like Chainlink they provided in the expansions were pretty weak also.

But Hardline has what looks like a nice spread. Rush was my preferred mode in previous titles as it provided a bit more focus and drama. The action is in one direction for the most part, the objectives are more imperative, there's more tension and more teamwork.

So I'm pleased that you have Heist to mix up the Rush formula as well as Rescue and Crosshair for smaller, moment to moment tension. Conquest and Hotwire expand and relax the action, giving you more freedom and variety.

I played a bit of Blood Money in the beta and couldn't decide if I liked it. It's quite smart on paper. Like, you can reduce the enemy team's points and literally take them for your own team's. It seems like there are a few roles to play within that mode, whether its going straight for the money in the middle, stealing from the enemy vault or protecting your own. I think whether I like it or not rather depends on how the objectives are spread on the maps.

I was watching some Heist gameplay earlier and the commentator was saying some interesting things. Chiefly, he wanted Visceral to update the mode so players carrying the money aren't highlighted for the other team. The criminals seem to have a much harder job than the police who can quite easily camp the objectives. So if it was revised it should work the same way as spotting in Crosshair, if a police player spots a bag carrier, THEN he's highlighted for the police though only for a short while.

Having played Heist in the beta it seems like Visceral tried to balance this indirectly by mixing up the drop off points so the police won't know exactly where the criminals are taking the bag each time.

Thoughts from players who've played some Heist on the full game?
