What happens to the o

after she leaves the cathedral? She left a note saying:
"Hold on, just wait a wee bit, my little dearie."

Went back looking for sedatives and she disappeared :(

Question about after beating Rom...

Did I miss a lantern there to light? I looked around and there was nothing but the lady who initiated the cut scene with the teleport. Just curious because I read somewhere there was a lantern at the Moonside Lake (for whatever reason).

I already got off the came for tonight, otherwise I would've checked myself.

Yeah there was one. Just look around you would have seen it.

No one? =(
I can't understand, in that Cathedral District I can't call any help. The bell is just grayed out! =/

I think you need to open the door with the key that costs 10k echoes to be able to call for help in that area. I heard someone mention this in the last thread, though I could be wrong.

How long do you need to devote to a single play session to make any progress? I think I will probably pick this up at some point, but I'm not sure if it is a game for me or not, so I'll most likely wait for an eventual GOTY version or when it drops in price (and I have a terrible time with console exclusives as I have a nagging feeling it will show up on PS+ eventually), but if it is the kind of thing where every single time I will need to set aside a couple of hours than it probably isn't for me (not that I'm unwilling, I just want the option to sometimes pop in for 20-30 minutes and then pop out).

I know there is no way to pause the game and there can be a big distance between lamps even if you know where they can be found (sorry, I'm somewhat familiar with the game, but have been trying not to be spoiled and only a passing awareness of the previous souls games, so maybe I'm using the incorrect terminology).

While trying to skim the different bloodborne threads I haven't found an answer to that question though I realize there is probably a big variance between different players.

20-30 minutes will get you between lamps most times if you don't die. If you do, it can be a lot longer. If you define making progress as getting to a boss, those can be spaced out even more. You don't need to get to a lamp to save, but then the only progress you might have gotten is knowledge of the area (assuming you don't forget it) and souls you picked up.

I'd be in the dick
If you opened the second one
(iron gate) then from the lamp it's just elevator > keep right at the wall till you come to a drop (with an hooded axe guy) > drop > keep a bit right (since to your right is a cliff) a small drop to a way with lamps, follow it but keep right till the iron gate shortcut. Then just follow the path till fog.
Thinking about it I haven't opened the gate next to axe guy. How do I get around to that?

this happens from time to time based on mulltiple things, incuding PSn network glitches but FROM may have really put together some shoddy netcode this time...its more than common to have to be confused about where and when you can summon...even for a vet.

Nah, don't want ruin the game, however I might start a separate file and use it before it's patched and keep it kicking around in case I miss some awkward trophies or something.
Yeah I should have probably done that instead of levelling my main guy to 307. I've already completed the game and done all the optional bosses so I guess i'm not missing out on that much really.

So I just invaded some guy. His buddy was afk so I tried to get him to fight me 1 on 1. He wouldn't move so I hit him, gave him time to heal, and we started fighting.

Just as I'm about to win he runs the fuck out of there and hides, I can't fuckin find him anywhere lol.

Sooo I go back to the cathedral ward or whatever to try a different route, get one shotted by something that takes me to a prison, which leads me into some completely new area seperate from anywhere I've been thus far.

This going to take a while. :)

Am I the only one that uses Blood Bullets all the time? I almost never use the normal qsbullets.

I use blood bullets just before I attack an enemy to conserve both health and ammo, eapecially if that run leads to death, so I don't "waste" ammo so to speak.

Advice:
Stick by his legs, try to stay in between them or behind him and go to town on his legs until he staggers down. Run to his head if close and R1. If not, keep attacking legs. I try to keep my distance until I find his patterns and understand them well. I don't use my weapon in 2 handed mode, simply for quick dodging and having a pool of stamina to get away in a bad situation to reset myself.

Advice:
Plant yourself in between the gravestones right to the right of the entrance in the boss room. 2 hand mode your weapon and hit him while keeping the gravestones between you and the boss. Take it MUCH slower when he goes 2 handed, 2 hand mode might get you hit by his long reach, so molotovs are good for this phase if you have him, if not, I rarely ever used them, just took my time. Try to keep a tall gravestone in between you and him so his gun can't hit you. In P3, try the music box, if not, just run up the stairs and fight him in the big open area. When he lunges, dodge the left and attack once or twice in 1 hand mode and rinse repeat. If you get in trouble run downstairs making him run in the fence while you heal.

Advice:
Don't overcomplicate this, equip fire paper, have antitodes ready. Keep distance, when he charges (not the spaz out one where he travels super far), dodge to the left and attack once or twice. Rinse and repeat (seriously thats it). Just keep some distance and dodge, youll be fine. Don't get greedy!

Alternate route: Bring blood potions (the ones that attract him) and throw behind you, as he goes to it, charge R2 his ass and then backstab/visceral.

Don't overthink this. Equip bolt paper and whack the shit out of her legs. Try to aim for the head/left arm if you can, those are her critical points. Make sure to try and stay to the side or behind her if you can. Try to eat up the damage by attacking hard and fast. She should be staggered a lot. Just in case, bring lots of healing potions. You can also try keeping your distance and avoiding her shockwave by dodging left or right and running in and whacking a few times. Keep in mind, whack her critical points when she heals. It's a long fight but don't over think it. Just go to town on her legs and heal if you can.

Advice:
Take your time here, do a lot of running around, and don't get greedy. This is very straight forward. Don't corner yourself by getting greedy and then the adds destroy you. Just look for big white/red bubbles after she disappears to find her next area. Keep in mind there will be two, so focus one. Don't get hit by her projectiles.

Attempts to kill: 2
Advice:
Get some whacks in on him right away, and then one by one take out the small spiders by hitting them from behind. It is critical that you don't stand still for a long time on this fight as you can get one shot by a lot of stuff. Once all small spiders are dead just destroy the boss. Don't stop running to his next area, and make sure you don't run in a straight and predictable pattern. Repeat part 1 but keep your distance from r
om
and keep moving in unpredictable patterns. Quick dodge is good for this phase. Repeat again for phase 3.

Advice:
Take this fight super slow. Keep your distance and try to split them up using the geo/rocks. Take out katana guy first, then focus flamethrower guy by splitting them. Keep moving/dodging as much as you can and take it slow. After the 2nd guy dies just destroy the last guy. Remember, watch your back when the last guy is up (don't be near pool). This fight is straight forward just be slow.

Advice:
Go down to the garden, just kite the little guys around the room and slowly find the "boss" one. Single it out and focus on it by kiting it around. Don't get greedy they hit hard and fast. When big guy comes out, run up the ramp and keep him in the garden while you're on the stone path. His attacks can still hit you so just back up and take your time while taking out and small ones that come up the ramp.

This fight could be really hard if done properly... so don't. There is this v shape squid tentacle on her ass that forms a conclave. Just run around her and lodge yourself in here as far as you can go. Now go to town on her. The only time you will get damaged is when she flies up and kicks you out. Just run back into the little v shaped wedge. Rinse, repeat. She should die super fast.

Treat this like the rat-dog from DS2 or sif from DS1. Just stay underneath him and whack his legs over and over. Keep your distance and wait for an opening to get underneath him, just whack away and take your time. Also, don't lock on.

Honestly, he's tough, I used almost all of my vials, and almost died a lot. Your best bet is to take it super, super slow, and use the building popups as cover. If hes being aggressive just kite him around it and wait for an opening to attack. When the swords come out just move far back to the other end and kite, kite, kite. Wait for openings and run away if you get into trouble.

First thing is first, head to the back of the room by where the boss starts and to the sides climb up the spiral staircase. Take out all of those bitches shooting stuff at you. After this just get to the side of him and wedge yourself up against him in an area where the feet won';t kill you. I just kept distance away from him and when they stopped kicking I'd run in and get a lot of whacks in all the while I kept myself to his side. When you hear a loud charging/yelling, run away, especially from the front of it so you don't get hit by his aoe.

Advice:
Dumb boss. When you get into the "arena" with him, just go ahead and whack away to keep him stunned. When you run out of endurance back up and keep yourself to his left so you don't get hit by his arm. Just keep dodging to the left and corner him/whack away. Rinse/repeat.

Attempts to kill: 1
Advice:
Easy boss. Take your time, dodge to the left 2-3 times and get behind her. You can stagger her a bit with an r1/r2 in 2handed stance but don't get greedy. During P2, just run around endlessly and in a random pattern. Pray to god you don't get hit and dodge a lot. Don't try to attack, just dodge, dodge, dodge. Don't get yourself caught in the frenzy attacks she has, just wait till they end or keep distance. You can get combo'd super fast. Just keep distance, watch patterns and wait for an opening. Don't attack from her front, ever.

A
mygdala
Attempts to kill: 1
Advice:
Stay by her feet and whack away to stagger her, you won't do much damage but its safer than always going for his head. You can try to aim for her head while being below him, but be careful with this, there will be plenty of opportunities to hit her while playing it safe. Watch for her jump up and don't get hit by her foot stomp while underneath her, so keep some stamina in your pool to dodge!

Attempts to kill: 1
Advice:
This guy... what a dick head. My start was simply this: Stay very far away for 3-4 minutes and watch patterns. There are some combos that are just super hard to avoid. Wait for the easy ones that leave some openings and whack away, he gets staggered easy so you can whack away for a while. Stay away during his frenzy phase and don't get greedy. You can TRY to parry him, but most (not all) of his moves are hard to track. Honestly, just play it slow and wait for attacks, I found dodging to the left a lot helped. Left him open to attack a lot.

Also, it should be noted, that when he is in his gun/sword combo, he'll occasionally do a roll at you, when the roll is coming to an end (and if he doesn't shoot his gun) you can fire a shot and parry him. This is very easy to do since the roll attack is probably the easiest to telegraph. It's just him literally rolling toward you (still quickly, but easier to follow). Just make sure to shoot him RIGHT as he is about to finish the roll.

Attempts to kill: 2
Advice:
Same as other bosses, super fast, hits super hard and has insane combos. Best bet is to watch it for a while from distance and wait to find patterns to hit with. I 2handed my weapon for this, but if you're more comfortable to dodge a lot go 1 handed. Keep in mind don't bother trying to avoid the aoe, just eat it and stand next to it and whack him for a good 15-20 seconds. When he's about to start attacking again, top yourself off with a vial and move away. You should heal about half the damage taken with restoration attacks.

Sorry if I missed any, hope this helps in your hunts, all.

Dodging is all it took for me. After a few deaths you realise her arms swings have an extra hit with the extended part so its just getting the timing down. Keeping your distance makes her rush you she'll slam witht the body then down witht the head its easy enough to dodge you just need to remember to sidestep the side then slash at the head. The homing magic things is also very easily dodged. The only real attack you should be wary of is when she berserks and lashes her arms out everywhere.

Once you get those patterns down its simple like most of the other bosses.

Thanks so much man. This helped loads and when I got this strategy down I took her down surprisingly comfortably (only got hit about 6 times). Praise the goddam sun that fight is over!!!

20-30 minutes is enough to make progress if you don't die too much.

I spend at least an hour if I want to progress through the game (I always explore as much as I can), maybe 20-30 minutes if I just help people fight bosses. There is no actual pause button, but you can quit to title screen and when you reload your game, you will start exactly where you left off. And lamps aren't needed to save progress, just that you will start at the last lamp you touched if you die.

You can quit at any point and it will resume where you left off. Lanterns aren't necessary for saving progress between sessions

Thanks all, that is very helpful and makes me more likely to pick it up sooner. I didn't know that about the quit and resume.

Amazing how much advertising this has been getting. I don't watch commercials much at home, but the last few times I've been at happy hour I've seen the bloodborne ad several times, glad to see different types of games getting pushed.

I like the subtle references to Demon's Souls.

one is
Martyr Logarius having the Soulbrandt in one hand.

the other, which is the one that leaked and is much more noticeable, is
Father G. saying umbasa when you die. considering his lore he probably comes from Demon's Souls world, pretty cool.

And there it is.

After what was probably 2 hours of trying and failing a multitude of methods against the 4th boss (?)
Vicar Amelia
, I finally bested her. Took an hour break, had some food, watched some documentary on the Mafia and then returned all amped up. Went non-heavy with the Ludwig sword (so I have some faster hits) and instead of backing off and waiting for her to come at me I went for her like a bat out of hell.

I ended up keeping her 99% of the time in a repeat animation of her one-two punch combo where if you dodge the first hit the latter hit will not hit you if you're on her right side. This made it RIDICULOUSLY easy and I wondered why I never attempted this in my bazillion other rounds with her. She couldn't do jack shit and I only had to use a couple of health potions altogether.

Night and day between this successful attempt and every other attempt previously which were done in a multitude of fucked up ways.

Also extra win for not permanently losing my Echoes so by killing her and recovering the ones I kept on losing prior, I made a cool 90k back which promptly went in to some upgrades and leveling up. Now at level 43 rather than 34 when I started on the boss.

How do you mean? I'm just now getting started with the chalice dungeons.

It is the same as the rest of the game essentially. Each dungeon has 3 levels, but when you finish one the coop partner is unsummoned and sent back. SO for each level, you have to go through the dungeon X amount of times switching who the host is so the person gets credit. It was very tedious.

I hardly ever used blood bullets throughout the whole game since I was usually not low on QS bullets, but I did have an incredible moment with them in the final battle. Out of viles, out of bullets, franticly trying to stay away from the boss who had a 10th of health left, surely about to best me again. Then in a moment of half desperation, half genius I hit the up button and bam; blood bullet parry to finish the game.

Ok, is the

the greatest blood echo farming area mid-game or what? I leveled from 30 - 64 by farming this area alone and I'm still getting enough echoes for a level per clear.(theres about 26k worth of blood echoes in
Unseen Village
) I feel like I'll be able to get a level per clear till about lvl 70.

wow...uhhm. is the cane really bad against bosses?
I've beaten every boss of the game and chalice dungeon, but the cleric beast destroyed me with my new character (no NG+). I remember this fight being much easier in my initial playthrough. Is the cane just bad against bosses?

I handily beat the game with the cane whip and it's been great in PVP so far. It's one of the most versatile weapons in the game imo. Whip function is incredibly useful In many circumstances.

After a somewhat stressful first session, in my second session it all clicked. I beat the first two bosses, got a better understanding of the combat (gotta love the visceral attacks) and made a bunch of progress. Already in the Catheral Ward now.

It feels great to use the stun + visceral attack on bosses. I hope every boss can be stunned + attacked, feels great.

It's funny: at first I missed the shield like crazy,
but after I found the wooden shield I didn't even consider equipping it lol

And I started using the kirkhammer. This weapon is awesome. I love starting with the sword, then doing the L1 change to finish the combo.

The weapon transformation mechanic is a thing of beauty.
