This is mainly my response lol. I have hope for him though!
After Lucas and Wolf, I think we're getting 2 more based on this list. It would seem fair and would bring the CSS to a rectangle based on the 3DS version.
Same. Veteran DLC is appreciated, but not that exciting compared to a new character.
I know it's out of the question, but I think it would be fantastic if Shantae and Shovel Knight would be included in the game's roster. Both characters have a bit of a legacy with Nintendo systems (Shantae being introduced in her GBC game & Shovel Knight being an exclusive to Wii U & 3DS systems), and both have wide, diverse abilities that would be unique among the other fighters. Both characters are the few Kickstarter success stories among the Kickstarter flunks, and it would be cool if Shovel Knight get's the Mega Man treatment of being a 1-to-1 recreation of his 8-bit sprite.

Ehh, I was happy to see Lucas back, but it didn't really excite me like Mewtwo because it was sort of been there, done that. For me the excitement in knowing that more fighters could and would be on the way -- really just any DLC content in general.

I'm well aware of that, but like I said, they probably missed the boat when Diamond/Pearl gradually came into existence around Brawl's development period. They also started the customary "Pikachu knock-off" trend that's in every generation despite never taking off, so they're not exactly relevant (remakes aside, and even then I don't think they were used in their promotion?).
From a personal standpoint, they're such shitty Pokémon that I'd rather not see infiltrate the roster in any way, shape or form. That's just me, though. I wanted to see a Gen III Pokémon Trainer, but that'll probably never happen.

That fake early results list is purely anecdotal but King K Rool does seem to be riding high at the moment when I just glance around at other forums.
Even if K Rool does not manage to get into Smash I guarantee you he is making it into the next Donkey Kong Country game. The love for him is crazy right now and it's going to result into something tangible for the fans.

If Shovel Knight is included I'd want him to be a heavy swords wielder (or should I say shovel wielder), so like Ike but more heavy like Bowser. But plays more like his character in the game with pogo bouncing, laser beams, and digging into the ground.
Shantae would be very interesting because she fights with her hair and magic, both are very well welcomed addition.

I wouldn't think of Shovel Knight of being a heavy character, what with him being incredibly acrobatic for a little dude who wears a full suit of armour.
And Shantae is just too cute to not be included.

I'd like to know this too. There's always some fighting Pokémon being suggested (Blaziken or Hitmonchan, for example), but never Machamp.

Shovel Knight was one of my favorite games of last year, but I can't take the character requests seriously. It would be insulting if somebody like him made it in over other viable third party candidates like Rayman, Bomberman, Shantae, etc. Give the IP time to flourish.

Gimme back Wolf and Ice Climbers (stop telling me they won't happen), then whatever newcomers arrive are fine. Veteran DLC is actually more exciting to me just because it essentially renders cuts meaningless, and cuts are the worst part of the Smash roster.

Thinking about it, I think Shovel Knight would probably make a better assist trophy than fully featured character. Shantae has had more history with Nintendo, and more games. Shovel Knight is just so...new. But then again, neither of them have a chance unless Nintendo wants to consider 3rd parties, and more importantly from indie games.
You must never have had a main cut...as someone who had his mains cut every single damn time-- I was very happy to have Lucas back and incredibly excited. I think fans of each character will get excited to see them return or become playable.
Not sure where to bring this up, but I figure here's a good spot-- Lucas isn't on the main Smash site yet while Mewtwo is (main page). Despite them giving a pricing structure for him in the direct, it still says TBA on the download content page. It makes me wonder if they plan to announce more at E3 and make everything after Mewtwo a bundle/season pass.

To be fair, I don't think any Konami character like Snake, Bomberman, or Simon has any chance. With all the crazy stuff going on between them and Kojima just makes me think Sakurai would just want to stay away from that lol. Would be cool to have them (although theres many more I want more heh) but just don't see it happening.
Despite being brand new, I say Shovel Knight has a fair shot of actually winning compared to other 3rd parties and being in the top 10 overall. His game was perfect and everyone likes it,
Either way, I really would love for any Indie to get in. The three most likely candidates would probably be Shovel Knight, Shantae, or Commander Video. While CV doesn't seem to have much support Nntendo did choose them as their Indie trophy so thats something I guess.
Quite frankly, none of the non indies they could add really get me hyped aside from Pheonix Wright. If theres any 3rd party DLC I'd rather it be Shovel Knight, Shantae, or Wright, with Shovel Knight being my most wanted and Shantae still up there but being the least wanted of the realistic choices. Aside from those three, Jack Frost, or Monster Hunter (granted creator wants them in) I don't really see any other 3rd parties having a shot aside from Konami's if Nintendo wants to deal with them. Well and Banjo if anythng comes of that.

It took Project M version 3.6 for there to be a legit looking Bowser's Castle in a smash game. Like, why???
I'm really particular when it comes to guest characters. There shouldn't be too many of them, and they should be able to stand tall next to Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man. Smash Bros. guests are an elite group. I don't doubt that Shovel Knight is a good game, but it's not nearly popular or established enough to get into Smash Bros. It's just one new game, not a long-running iconic series.

Bomberman would be great. Debuting in 1983 and over 70 games and cameos since then and he has a long history with Nintendo.

The Melee/Brawl veterans are really popular in Japan. Yes, even Pichu. As for newcomers, K. Rool, Dixie, and Krystal requests are the most common. Their other highly requested characters (Palutena and Shulk) already made it into the base game.

On a somewhat interesting note (and I'm sure this has been noted already) from reading the bottom of the official DLC page, it appears that the 3DS version will be getting an in-game store but the Wii U version will just send you to the eshop from an in-game button. I'm guessing this is mostly due to the OG 3DS's limitations while playing smash and not being able to access any background apps.

I forgot almost completely about Krystal. I know Adventures got a lot of flack but it was my first Starfox game. True, that's not really Starfox gameplay but I think the game is highly underrated. It's a very good RPG with great visuals. And I'm a sucker for dinosaurs so there's that.
So granted I would not mind Krystal. Though she'd have to bump elbows with Wolf. Maybe even release the two together. At the VERY LEAST we won't have to worry about Krystal getting any Landmasters. And, hey, a staff user would be pretty unique.

I think Rayman has the highest chance of any third party character not named Snake. He has a long running, classic franchise, he was Ubisoft's mascot for a while and still kiiinda is (note: every third party character in Smash so far has represented their company), the Rabbids spin-off games were huge on the Wii and spawned a TV show, he's had strong ties to Nintendo over the years, Rayman Legends was published by Nintendo in Japan, he has a newfound surge of support thanks to Artsy Omni's fake leak, and most prominently... he has THREE trophies already in the game, which is more than some actual Nintendo games. Think about that. Rayman is actually in the game already.

At this point the only third party characters left that are in that league are the Konami 3(Simon, Bomberman, Goemon) and possibly a FF/DQ rep. Nobody else comes close to deserving a Smash guest slot. Really the guest roster should just be Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-man, and Simon. Anything more than that does get to be a bit much.
