High Voltage fucking sucks.

I thought the lowered framerates were Netherealms doing. Some might be trying to place the blame unfairly. Which isn't surprising.

60 FPS at sky temple at 1440P outside of X-Rays/post game elements which lock to 30.
Framerate does drop a bit in character selection when characters are loading in but the actual fighting is smooth.

It's worth noting that Hwa has a very old card.

I sucked six dicks to get this tag.
Were MK9 and Injustice bad ports? You'd think that after 2 NRS games they'd be familiar enough with NRS tech. MK10 uses UE3, no?

Quoting myself from a previous thread http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1025512
Injustice had a huge slow motion bug and online was borderline unplayable for months before fixed. Even then the netcode was still ass compared the 360 version and that's not good at all considering nrs netcode is already trash in the first place(hopefully MKX will be different).

MK9 was somewhat decent

How did their port of the pervious MK turnout? Worth picking up?
MK9 is good if you accept it has no online mode whatsoever. But really, other than that it's great which is why I bought this, being optimistic for an improved product, lol.

the high voltage cycle

a lot of people buy the high voltage port -> high voltage makes another port -> high voltage sucks -> a lot of people buy the high voltage port

I'm sure they made a bad port on purpose. In other words is the vitriol really necessary? I bet they still worked their asses off to get the game to you even in that state.

I don't have a problem calling out a bad port, but I think calling out developers in such a rude fashion is in poor taste. Don't you want them to post here and answer questions? Why would they if this is the reaction they get?

They keep putting out poorly running games, one was so bad the company who hired them had to go back and rework the game...

They are terrible developers. Fucking sucks, incompetent, terrible developers, it's all the same.

Game doesn't seem to pull in any resolutions above your native so I can't downsample. Suppose I could change the desktop resolution.

But yeah, performance is very smooth with no drops for me during fights. Just want to make that clear given the mostly negative impressions. Game looks great.

I knew this PC version would be botched in some way.

Seems kind of early to be making a full judgement on the port doesn't it?

Fighting games are pretty easy to judge when it comes to ports.

The MK9 Netcode is even worse on PC from what I hear and my friend who bought Injustice last year still can't even get the game to launch.

I guess that's why they're getting hired: They must be cheap as fuck.

I don't even think that's the case. They're based in a Chicago suburb and have just opened up another studio in New Orleans. I know nothing about property in America, but wouldn't expect those major cities to be cheap.

Their website says:

We employ more than 100 of the game industry’s most talented individuals in our wholly owned 28,000 square foot development studio, with facilities to handle motion-capture animation, full audio production, game design, tools and technologies, world-class visuals, and QA,

I mean, it doesn't sound like a cheap studio you'd hire to do a quick and dirty port. Surely there are similar Eastern European studios that would be a fraction of the cost.

NeoGAF could change its URL to www.highvoltagesuperfans.com and the games would be just as bad.

How do they keep getting port jobs for high profile games, seriously Warner obviously gives as much shit as High Voltage does.

told y'all to hold off on the PC purchase after how busted MK9 and Injustice was. You keep doing this to yourself.

the only hope is that since this isn't a late port maybe WB and Netherrealms will actually give a fuck and push HV to fix the port.

Why do they keep getting hired? They must be cheap as fuck. Mortal Kombat X is the latest victim in a string of technical embarrassments.

Konami had to hire another developer to fix the shitshow they made when they ported Zone of the Enders 2 to the PS3, for fuck's sake.

Enough is enough, man.

Who was it who said I was crazy for calling this developer garbage?!

Haha

I'm surprised no one is spamming NRS or HVS's Twitters.

Also I'm fucking pissed, I never knew about this HVS doing crap ports, should've gotten the game for ps4.

has anyone tried out the netcode? MK9 and Injustice were literally unplayable online, complete lagfest where the matches ran at like 10 fps and would almost always disconnect

While I agree the vitriol is unnecessary. it isn't like they'd be able to give much of an answer. What could they say?

They actually suck?
They're actually really talented but, WB is repeatedly shafting them on hours?
The staff is really talented but, management gets undercutting the rival port houses' offer to point that no one could pull off the port?

Would any responses change things in regards to the end user experience? I guess a better title would simply be: Don't buy games made/ported by High Voltage Software.

Nope, no one's tried it out because we're past the official release date and modes (single player story, test your luck, towers, and online) plus characters (scorpion, sub-zero and goro) are still locked as if they haven't been downloaded.

For people who are considering byuing the console version instead of the steam version:
You know a shit pc port is still miles ahead then the console version, right?
Unless it's the netcode, if it's not good on pc then there is no hope for it unless you planned to play it locally and it's shit on consoles too.

Ah good to hear. What's the aliasing like at 1440p?

Heads up, they are doing the last gen consoles port too.

Regardless of who is doing the port on those, I think that everyone already sees the writing on the wall for those versions since they were delayed, especially after the last time WB did that with current gen downports.

I can confirm that this is currently wrong.

People who bought if for console are playing each other online and playing story mode.

PC players are stuck in training mode, unable to play scorpion, sub-zero, and goro.

Woohoo.

Douchebag. Yes, me.
The fatalities are definitely pre-rendered movies rendered at 30fps.

The gamma, lighting and aliasing all changes when they play... it's pretty obvious.

Pretty minor, mostly noticeable on some of the costume pieces. Great IQ for FXAA though.

No performance issues on any stage. Might be an AMD issue? Of course story mode still isn't unlocked as of now but the actual performance and visuals are great.

Don't worry guys, with enough complaining, they'll be able to get another developer to come fix the High Voltage mess.

Or just wait for the GOTY edition.

rofl, this game. If I click the configure option the launcher immediately crashes, so I just went straight into the game but clicking on single fight just boots me straight back to the desktop. I'd be royally pissed if I actually had to buy the game myself.

I just can't believe this. I don't want to believe this. It's insane.

you serious? that makes zero sense because of the crazy combination of characters. you would have to make hundreds of videos to accommodate all combinations.

I imagine it's just that they capped the framerate at 30 fps because that doesn't make sense.

I guess it's rude, but I'm definitely not gonna feel sorry for a company that continually puts out poor product. Nobody cares about movie studios and such catching feelings on the OT when a movie is called trash. For a long while now I've been mindful of saying stuff that could be hurtful because I know some devs roam and actively post around these parts. But some are beyond being treated with kids' gloves. It's not like I personally insulted anyone. What would they say, anyway?

With the different outfits, variations, stages and whatnot, it's really not possible.

I remember people posting not to buy the PC version of MK X before the game was released. lol
You'd think people wouldn't buy their products anymore.

Okay, good, thanks a lot. Will grab this when I'm back assuming they've patched it by then. Yuss. Didn't really want to miss out on this.

The game is the top seller after GTA5 on Steam and so forth. HVS is doing Injustice2/MK11/whatever doesn't matter what a vocal minority wants. HVS will continue to churn these out.

Too bad Steam has this bullshit of not refunding. I'd do it in a heartbeat and get the ps4 version instead.

Everything about High Voltage is mediocre. Their games, their website, their fucking logo...everything.

Their biggest praise came from making an average first person shooter series.
