For racing, I totally agree. No other comes as close to perfection as MK8. It's just a shame the battle mode is absolute shit. It would have been the perfect Mario Kart if not for that. I'm still hoping they add another pack of DLC with battle arenas.

Totally that's a good point and I missed it. Honestly I don't play battle mode much (even with friends) so it didn't really bother me but still it would have been nice to see a few more arenas to it.

Absolutely agree with you - another round of DLC for battle arenas would be sublime, even though they should have been included in the first place.

That seems like an awfully pessimistic take on things. It's been pretty obvious that F-Zero has been dead for a long time, and even if they made a new game they sure as hell wouldn't have given it the budget of their highest selling series, so in my mind these F-Zero callouts have been fantastic and better than anything I could've hoped for. I don't consider it "twisting the knife" or anything like that at all.

It feels so good to have more Super Circuit courses even though seems like they gave the layout of the courses a drastic change. That was my first ever Mario Kart game.

Probably. I think Nintendo should have tried using Killer Instinct's business model. Start with a few ships and tracks and release 'seasons' with new content.

Outside Luigi U, they really haven't done DLC for any of the mainline Mario games, though. Even Luigi U is sort of a special case since it feels less like add-on content and more like it's own little sidegame. I think it might have been just a simple case of them not feeling the need to offer additional content.
