Could you tell me if this game has less story or it's less (much less) story driven than the first Xenoblade? I wonder if it's just like a sandbox with little story or more like the first game.

Oh wow. Its bizarre seeing people still asking this. Good on you for keeping that blackout going.

The story is extremely in depth.

It seems that streamers will have to figure out how to get dolls for their party members because they don't get one at the same time with you :x

I thought it was you had to buy one for each member?

The dolls seems a bit too expensive to be able to buy one for each teamates, imo.
Also in the videos, Lynn and Elma did present their own....
So, really, we're not sure yet how they got them but I don't think it's through main story because Narumi was at chapter 8 and none of his crew had a doll.
I'm betting on sidequests.

If you play on TV, what is shown on the gamepad?

The answer is still yes. Why would there be less story. This never made sense.

I don't remember clearly but I think you need to have the WiiU connected to the TV for the first time set up, after that you can just disconnect it from the TV and keep it on your room.

Correct.

O_O

Holy crap, if that really works it would be the best thing ever!!
Amazon please hurry up and ship my Wii U :D

Of course that works!

720p with no AA is what I gathered.

I think there is some post AA or at least edge smoothing, screens (if those i've seen are taken from the console) don't look aliased like those of say, MK8, which is 720p no AA. We should probably wait to see more screens taken from the console to be certain about this.

Takahashi said this game has a deep sci-fi story opposed to the basic fantasy story in the first Xenoblade, and the first opinions from those who are already playing the game seem to be in line with what he said.

we will need a guide hope a good wiki is updated soon enough for all of this

Someone can comment on the difficulty level of the game ? This is my biggest concert. Xenoblade was way to easy until last hours and endgames content. This game is harder ? or everything is a little more balance ?

Sorry if this has been addressed before. How much freedom do you have flying with the skells? Can you actually go anywhere you see? Is it fun to fly around?

Could you enter NLA by air? I'm guessing that a seamless transition from NLA to the overworld would be a bit much to ask from the WII U..

Thanks in advance Gaf

During that treehouse stream they were talking about how they hand down their old skell to another party member whenever they buy a new one, so I'm pretty sure you just have to buy em all.

Purely based off streams, it seems pretty hard if you don't use the squad. Also you can get into area's that are massively out of your range within a short amount of time. They are huge level monsters roaming, probably quests later down the line for the Doll etc. After that, who knows! The online squad stuff is the end-game in reality.

The biggest problem with difficulty that was present in Xenoblade (and most jrpg's) is that you want to do a lot of sidequests in order to explore the world and unlock things (do sidequests here mostly just give money, or armor/weapons too?), but if you do lots of sidequests, then you'll be overleveled and the game will be too easy. You either have to find a good balance between doing sidequests and going through the story or just do two playthroughs. Hopefully the balance is just right in this game; it would be nice if they offered a hard mode though.

And then you had to worry about missable sidequests, so even if you were trying to strike a balance you never knew when a non timed quest would open up a timed one. As a result you (at least I) ended up doing them all anyway.

The world is completely open and seamless. You can fly anywhere. There was footage in the Doll Direct of people flying their skells all around NLA. But I didn't see them fly out. I have seen someone drive from the field staight into NLA in their mech and it was seamless. The only building I've seen load times to enter is the BLADE home.

I'm fairly certain you'll be able to fly in and out of NLA though. We just don't know because none of the streamers have gotten their flight gear yet.

So...how badly does everyone think this is going to bomb in Japan sales wise?

First week - 50K then a drop to 10?

Better than that? Worse?

These videos are awesome, but even the 3DS port of Xenoblade didn't do great, right? Is there any hope for this?

There's no hope for any game in Japan...unless it's on mobile :[

So I'm playing the first, and I'm curious as to how the difficulty is in this one compared toe the first one? I hear if you overlevel in the first title, the enemy's evasion stat will rise as well, making fights super long.

I'm pretty sure that's not true at all. I was overleveled and that never happened. Enemies evasion stats are only high compared to yours if you are underleveled by like 5+ levels.

Other way around. The way evasion worked in the last game is that if you were 5 levels or more below the enemy you might as well be constantly swinging at air.

Hope you can post some impressions here. That would be really great. :)

If the Import OT is up I may write a bit in there instead, but if too much people is still here, then I may (copy/)paste it here too.

Don't expect too much though, I don't know how far I will be able to go and see. But I'm most likely going to be doing sidequests.
Also if there's a possibility for a GAF squad, I may try it and report on this as well.

Trying to remain unspoiled and finding about basic options is hard, so I have to ask again:

What audio options are in the menu? I need seperate audio sliders for music/voice/sfx.

All this hype is making me want to continue my save of my 2nd playthrough of Xenoblade. I think I'm in the mekna forest area. Been awhile since I loaded it up.

90-100,000 first week

I'm gonna be super optimistic.

I mean the game releases during golden week right? That should count for something
I want this game to succeed D:

All things considering (new platform, lower install base, port of a title that had a regular release in Japan only a few years ago), it did on the lower end of fine. The first Xenoblade didn't really do that well in Japan, and, according to an Iwata Asks, did better overseas. Regardless, I don't think the success or failure of Xenoblade X in Japan is necessarily indicative of the franchise's future.

Golden Week will help, for sure, but I also think given that it's a sequel and that it's released during Golden Week, it probably won't have the best legs. Even doing what the first Xenoblade ended up doing in Japan (~140k?) in its lifetime would be fine, I suppose.

You call a lower bound of 90 units super optimistic?
