Persona comgnet comparison

Persona 4 golden: 66 pts
Persona Q: 36 pts
Persona 4 arena: 30 pts
Persona 4 dancing: 19 pts

I dunno how these points totally work, but are these also comparisons from when the respective games were two months away from release?

This doesn't take into account that P4D's 19 pts only comes from the "Crazy Value Pack" limited edition release, and not even the standard one.

The points are the actual number of pre-orders at Comgnet's... I think it's 12 stores?

Alright, so they're directly representative of pre-order numbers (from that number of retailers).

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
Well it's also worth noting that P4D has a bunch of different retailer exclusive pre-order goodies: http://p-atlus.jp/p4d/shopguide/

The Comgnet one is a Quo card with the P4D cover art, so it might not be the most attractive retailer to preorder at.

You gotta admit though those lawson colored theme outfits are pretty hilarious.

Its too bad 7-11 didnt have any pre-order costume. I want a 7-11 outfit not a post card. D: With how much money 7-11 has too you would think that they would do something a bit more interesting as the pre-order incentive. Like the awesome 7-11 gunplas.

It's like you said.
It doesn’t look like any other edition will enter soon, the game in the last position is in the chart has 11 points so even with all editions other spin off are astill ahead of Persona dancing.
But it's too early to know if my prediction is right or not

Based on Comgnet you'd think IA/VT -Colorful- will trounce P4D. Does anyone think that will actually happen come release date? I get the sense that P4D is being underrepresented at Comg.

I doubt it. P4D is riding on the Persona brand, which is quite popular. Then again, vocaloid stuff is pretty popular, and there's definitely a sizeable market for that on Vita, so I dunno...

Still expecting P4D to be the best-seller by a "wide" margin.

I remember reading Squaresoft's previous IR reports that they hoped to achieve 10 million units with FFX, as stated with the link above, and SE's report that the FFX saga had reach 10 million units later on (though it seems they bundled X & X-2 upon further verification).

Both IA/VT and P4D are releasing on the same day, sales cannibalization is bound to happen considering they're in the same genre.

Hm, if the #s are actually end up close to these, those would seem like decent #s for DQX/Xeno X? P&D would be down a lot though from its 500K+ debut w/ P&DZ.

Sega is taking a more direct stab at the hunting action genre:

Gematsu said:
Monster Gear (Smartphone)

Sega announced Monster Gear, a free-to-play smartphone “hunting action” game (with micro-transactions) coming to smartphones in Japan next month.

The game lets up to four players come together to fight. A single mission takes about five minutes. Its simple controls allow for single-hand play, with “Attack,” “Guard,” and “Special Pair Attack” making up its three basic operations.

Hunter weapons available to players include the large sword, lance, pair sword, hammer, and bow.

Read more at http://gematsu.com/2015/04/amatsumi...-monster-gear-smartphones#r4vYRj2GDbvs5Bx4.99

The other announcements were two Vita adventure games (I'm assuming VNs?) and a Pretty Cure match-3 game for 3DS.

ayy Mpl90 good job, you predicted Nirolak's next post before he made it!

If this proves true, it looks like my guestimates weren't far off earlier in the thread about the hardware bump for the WiiU. That's a decent opening for XCX, too, all things considered.

Let's see if it will have legs to match or exceed the original.

IA/VT -Colorful was available to pre-order a long time before Persona 4 dancing

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Sega just launched Hortensia Saga, one of the two big mobile games they debuted at TGS: https://www.appannie.com/apps/ios/app/orutanshia-saga-cangno-qi/

Mixi's Monster Stadium (PvP version of Monster Strike) also just came out: https://www.appannie.com/apps/ios/app/monsutosutajiamu/

You can tell it's a new game because instead of just not-Charmander, the icon also has not-Bulbasaur.

icon100x100.jpeg

Gonna follow both of them and Monster Gear when it comes out (next month).
Hortensia Saga will be the first to get an analysis, since it's the one that's already been out for a while.

I feel like any Wii U HW bump is less important than finding the ability to stay over 7-8k on a weekly basis. But there's no games this summer though right? Except Splatoon.

That would be very decent for XCX, though my guess is that its legs wouldn't match the original considering it's a sequel and, because of Golden Week, it's going to be front-loaded anyway.

All things considered that's it's sort of lower-profile IP on a console with a low install base, sure. Fine. I'll take it.

Haven't we gotten some hints that DQH2 might draw more from Toukiden than Musou?

DQH 1 is more like Toukiden than Musou, I would guess DQH2 would expand on that. This is also why a Vita version makes sense (and might be popular).

Btw, I noticed this in an Iwata Asks just now for Xenoblade 3D, but
"The overseas sales would never be higher than the Japanese sales unless that was the case." with regards to Xenoblade Chronicles. I always assumed it was likely, but was it ever confirmed before this?

Did you even read what you post? The Gamespot article is a forecast by SE which it doesn't look like they achieved it based on the PDF. In page 5 of the PDF, it shows FFVII sold a little over 9 mil and FFX&X2 sold a little less than 8 mil.

1 - Forecast
2 - FFX/X-2 & FFVII sold over 10 million
3 - Presentation references were given only to provide context of what the numbers looked like in 2003 upon merger of SE (JP #'s only for X-2).
4 - (parentheses segment) admission of mistake on my end for FFX

Anything else?

I just got 3k yen from Sony, apparently they were running a ps4 campaign. I guess that's one way of spurring sales.

Tsutaya's report

- Bravely Second topped the charts as it was expected. However, the impression is that the game started slow. The expectations are now on Golden Week for a second chance.
- Style Savvy 3 continued selling well, and Dying Light received a new shipment on the weekend. It might sold a little more units if it had arrived before.

For next week:

- Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Edition (3DS) is expected to top the charts. Pre-orders are in perfect form, and should keep selling well in May.
- Second place should be for Dragon Quest X: Version 3 (Wii U and Wii). Users are still supporting the game and is expected to sell well.
- Xenoblade X is next. There's a bundle, and there's almost no jRPG fanbase on the system, that's why is expected to move hardware.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
It's weird how they explained the drop; i.e., the didn't. Also, they say P&D is stable, but all is pointing out that it is not actually stable, and is declining.

With respect to “Puzzle & Dragons,” the number of MAU (Monthly Active User*) is
increasing steadily due partly to the implementation of seasonal events.

Thats not really declining, seems just like most of their other ventures arent as profitable as they could be. Still searching for that second hit title.

This would be easier if the WiiU wasnt such an expensive system. Even so the people who get the system for this game will sell the game + hardware back to the store once they finish it. Whatever Nintendo does for their next console - it better be affordable. Software prices are already quite high, so either games get cheaper or the mean to play them...no wonder the market is shrinking and cant compete with handhelds/mobile.

Yeah, but then:

“Puzzle & Dragons” has earned a solid position
as a nationally popular game and continues to generate stable revenue.

MAU might be increasing, but revenues seem stable, which is not a good sign.

This sounds good (except Bravely Second, but that was expected). Also, I think you mean Girls Mode 3, not 2 ;)

True, but the game is entering its 4th year on the market and even with stronger competition (Monster Striker etc.)its still pretty much making as much money per day as the market allows for a single app.

While much further growth shouldnt be expected at this point - "stable" should be enough with the Return on investment they get from PaD. They still have time to work and present their "next big thing".

Is it me or are we hearing about under shipping a lot lately?

So DQH is now over 810k according to Famitsu.

I wonder if the second game will do anything like this. Unfortunately I think it'll suffer the same fate every second spin off Musou game does.
So worldwide sales, I imagine this will hit 1 million then. It would be nice if the sequel doesn't have a huge drop off. The first game is PS3/PS4 in Japan and PS4 only everywhere else, correct?

It will easily hit 1 million worldwide once launched internationally.

I wonder if Square/Koei will ever confirm this though.
