Wait, this is all there is day one? Will GHtv have the 100+ songs day one too and this is all there is day one for LIVE? I just thought this was a partial setlist...

Ouch at that set list. They seem to be really banking on GHTV. Regardless I don't see myself paying the 100 for the guitar and game at this point. Will buy when the inevitable sale hits though.

Yeah but the IGN article makes it sound like this is all there is for the first week and they will add stuff weekly. I'm hoping there is more at launch though. We both know that just because we see songs pre-release does not mean they come to fruition.

This is a disappointing list. At least half of these songs existed in previous GH/RB games. And as someone who already has many of the previous games, this lowers my interest for the new entry.

Holy Christ, the only song on that entire list that gets me excited is Cowboys From Hell and that was a staple of Guitar Hero ONE...

Honestly, the larger set list once you include the GHTV stuff is totally ok to me. The problem is that without the gigantic bedrock of previously released songs to complement it, I can't be that interested when there's an alternative that does. It's just too hard to go back to the set list ground zero.

Isn't the model for this game to have tons of dlc packs of songs anyway. Set list matches popular music and they are going for the mainstream. Hardcore peeps can get more as dlc

Not sure about the live shit though. Actually kind of a turn off as it's not the same kind of charm. I wonder how many people will like it

I had a feeling the Skrillex song would be Bangarang. I can't imagine it will be that fun to play unless you play the synth parts. There's guitar in it but it's only noticeable for probably a third of the song and still pretty minimal when it's there.

They've already said to expect songs like that that aren't necessarily guitar-focused. The chord-shaping mechanic gives them the freedom to do stuff like that and have a closer approximation than the old layout would allow for.

Yeesh. If this is the setlist, I'll cancel my preorder, the game just isn't for me. Even if there's Guitar Hero TV, this is a general indication of where they're going with overall approach, and it's wayyyyy far away from what I want in a Guitar game.

I don't even know what to say. Despite the natural difference in taste in music by all of us posting in here, the fact that we are seemingly all disappointed says a lot about the setlist. The fuck.

Man those new reveals are bad. Cowboys From Hell and the other series staples are sick but they've been played to death in other GH and RB games. Not to mention that some of these songs are actually appearing for the third time in GH alone.

Paint it Black and Cowboys from Hell are the only two songs I wish we could see on Rock Band. I don't know 80% of the bands on this setlist, but after googling and youtubing some of them it seems like it's mostly modern pop, dj, dubsteb and electronic. Why is this game called GUITAR hero again?

Truly an atrocious setlist. Harmonix.... you're our only hope! :(

Well, the setlist has improved from what they originally revealed but with so many repeats, it doesn't seem terribly exciting.

I really think this game was given only scraps for a budget.

So you'll be playing some synth parts? I don't have a problem with that personally, just curious.

most likely, I also expect there to be some alternate charting where sometimes you play a bass line as opposed to guitar since Bass isn't a thing

Yeah, it's an improvement, but it's not exactly a convincing case.

Well it has a Vampire Weekend song from MVoTC so so far it's beating RB4's setlist

Rock Band 4 is shipping with compatibility with almost all past DLC. Even if Rock Band 4 is Limp Bizkit: The Video Game, it's crushing Guitar Hero Live's offerings in my eyes.

Although I do wish Rock Band got Paint It Black, but I understand why it's an issue. :/

The soundtrack isn't exactly amazing but it's not awful either. Okay, it is a little but it has its moments.

People are banging about Cowboys from Hell being a staple but it was in two games, one was the first GH where HO/POs pretty much didn't exist (and was also a cover) and the other one was a live version with charting that people would argue the quality of plus it didn't export to 5/WoR anyway. A lot of these songs may have been in previous GH/RB games but it's a whole different control scheme, plays differently and all that. It's like people complaining that songs from the old guitar only games made it to Rock Band.

Skrillex is still awful though. But I coped with Dragonforce which is equally awful, just from a different genre so I guess I'll deal with this.

Yeah but I have all my DLC on RB3 so it's really about the RB4 Setlist for me barring some crazy improvements shown on Friday.

Repeats are weird, but then again Harmonix repeated Wayward Son in RB2 after already having it in GH2, and had repeats in DLC for a game that already had the song (RttH, etc)

I'm fine with them as long as there's a couple here and there, especially if the song isn't available anymore or via any other means. If this all the repeats so far and there's a substantial number of songs on disc, then they're good.

edit: this is also a hard confirm that RB's Green Day exclusivity is over

thats the worst tracklist for any music game ive ever seen

I have to agree... I wasn't enamoured with the New guitar controller but these games live and die by the set list and that Is the worst.

Skrillex? Would be awesome on DJ hero but not here.

Poor selection. I Think rock band could best this setlist and all it would take is 3 songs

Well, let's see if they can do it in five this Friday

I had no idea State Champs were big enough to be in a GH game. Cool for them.

Wow only 55k fans on facebook, had no idea how underground they were

Hmm, didn't now how big they were. Never heard of them before GH5.

And to be fair, Facebook seems to be losing stem among younger people.

It's not supposed to be a knock against SDRE anyway. I have their first album on CD because of GH5.

Wait this game only has 45 songs? Is everything on GHTV pay?

SRDE is like OG emo. Maybe now we can something like American Football or Cap'n Jazz

Yeah definitely not feeling the set list, but I do like the inclusion of Broken Bells and Sleigh Bells. However, the Broken Bells song they selected isn't really one suited for this sort of game...
