With Hairworks.

Apart from the line:

Code:
HairWorksAALevel=4

which seems to be missing from my users.settings, but it was in viveks'.

HairWorksAALevel is in:
Code:
WhereverYourGameIsInstalled\The Witcher 3\bin\config\base\rendering.ini

Turning on only adaptive doesnt make the job?
You're right, as far as I can tell adaptive vsync also works with in-game vsync turned off.

However, I noticed just now that adaptive vsync introduces some nasty tearing, unless you set the framerate cap to unlimited. But without that framerate cap the game is stuttering quite badly. So the choice seems to be between stuttering and tearing.

Is there anyway to get over 30fps in cutscenes with a 970 with hairworks, seems fine in gameplay but conversations and cutscenes are 20-25fps :(

Report back of you could. Waiting on my 970 to arrive today. I'd very much like to hit high settings with HBAO+ and 1080/60. Be interested to know how it hits you.

Just got a text as I'm writing this, card arriving in the next hour. So hyped! :D

I'm running a 970, i5 2500k, 16gb of RAM.

vsync - on
fullscreen
1920x1080 resolution
background characters - high
shadows - medium (haven't tried higher I don't have shadows high in any game anyway)
terrain - ultra
texture - ultra
water - ultra
grass - high
foliage distance - high
detail level - ultra

Everything in postproccessing is on and HBAO+.

Buttery 60fps, super smooth no drops so far just done the first 'major' side quest I guess I'd call it. Hope that helps/gets you hyped!

I will try here... Adaptive never worked well for me. Maybe my luck change using it with ingame vsync

The game really heats up my gpu more so than other games but it's because it's utilizing my gpu to its maximum which is a good thing, tapping into all potential power. Getting about 50 fps which is good enough for me with highest fidelity

So anyone with a 770 can share their experience? I have the 4GB model and would like to know what I'm getting into since I've yet to download the game at home.

I have the 770 2gb and a 2500 cpu.

Settings
1080p, Vsync on, 60fps cap
AA on
HBAO+ on
Hairworks off
Foliage visibility range: High
Grass density: High
Shadows: Low
Detail Level: Ultra
Textures: Ultra
DoF on
Bloom on
Light shafts on

With These Settings i get 40-50 fps (to be honest, 40 most of the time). If i lock the fps to 30 i can set the Foliage visibility range to Ultra. I go with low shadows because the most important Setting is the foliage range. The shadow Setting on low is not that bad and you can put the saved performance into the foliage range.

Even with everything on low, i get around 45 fps in the first village and 60 fps in the wild. But the pop-in is very ugly. I think i will lock the game to 40 fps with nvidia inspector.

Well I'm getting 55-70fps on my TitanX with everything maxed out (including hairworks)
Is this right? I was expecting at least a stable 80fps.

EDIT: My resolution is 1920x1080

My rig:

I7 5930k 3.5Ghz
64GB RAM DDR4
2x 480GB SSD Raid0
TitanX

What resolution?

So I have V-Sync ON in-game, with FPS cap set to 30.

However, on my MSI 7850 to HDTV via HDMI, I have a horrible horizontal line.

The line is always in the same place, at least until the game is restarted, but I'll have to research more to verify if that even changes it.

It looks a lot like a V-sync tear, but I'm not sure if V-sync isn't working or if it's a problem with the graphics card, possibly related to the fact that I duplicate my screen to a DVI monitor as well. It does keep happening once switching to just the one screen though.

Lowest 55? I'll take that. I have a single titan x too

How good is the 30fps lock in this game? I will probably pick it up tonight. If it's smooth, I might play it on my TV with a controller and all bells and whistles.

Then again, I remember W2 being shit without a keyboard...

Lock it yourself with MSI Afterburner and half-refresh rate vsync from the control panel. I never rely on the game to do it since doing it myself guarantees smooth results every time.

I think someone with the same issue mentioned moving the slider all the way to fullscreen to fix this.

Man, the difference between Ultra and Low isn't very big. Kind of disappointed.

So far I'm in the little village with the thugs and ultra everything with hair works and HBAO+ off, I get 30fps at 1080p AA off. This is on the following:

PhenomIIx4 @ 3.6ghz
GTX670 2GB
4GB DDR2 RAM

Guess my ancient machine lives to see another day.

I love how the beard looks with hairworks but the hair looks horrible, I wish that we could have an option just for the beard, i was playing with everything on ultra on my 980 and was getting smooth 60 frames but as soon as i steep in the woods got down to 50, had to turn down to high that foliage distance to get a smooth 60 again

Its 100% because your screen is duplicated. Set it to one screen at a time for gaming and the line will disappear. Had the same problem for ages.

Anybody running to problems playing this on a normal hard drive? Wondering if I should make space on my ssd whilst I wait for this damn post man

Half refresh rate (without afterburner) usually gives me the best results. I'll try that.

My main reason to buy this game is the foliage. It looks that amazing. Weird reason, I know. ;p

Knowledge is power, guard it well
i7-4720HQ
GTX 980M
SSD

1080p
Graphics and Postprocessing presets on High
Chromatic Off
No AA
SSAO
Hairworks Off
Textures Ultra

Locked 60fps, except the 30fps movies

I just turned off movie Ubersampling and changed movie fps to 60, so I'll see if that changes anything.

I have it installed on my 4TB WD Red (5400rpm drive), and I do get occasional loading stutter similar to Watch Dogs. Haven't tried it on my SSD yet, so I don't know if the HDD is a bottleneck.

So the game runs rather decent on my system sporting an i7-2600k and a 2GB GTX 770 factory OC'd to 1150 MHz.

Everything on in post processing, with HBAO+.

In graphics, Hairworks off. Everything on Ultra excluding Grass Density and Foliage Visibility Range, both of which are on High.

Fps locked at 30fps at 1080p (unlocked fps ranges from 30 to 60).

Only issue is that I'm noticing minor stutters here and there. Is anyone else noticing this? If yes, have any of you been able to find a fix. Typing in "Witcher 3 pc stutter" into Google only brings up stuff about the Xbox One version. Thought you guys might know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the infor, feeling a lot more optimistic right now.

Well, I haven't played a lot yet...just gotten to the first village and so far the experience has been a very smooth one with 60fps at 1080p with everything at ultra excluding Hairworks (turned off) and my rig is:

i5-3570k at 4.1ghz
8gb ram
gtx 780 dcu2 OC edition

Definitely thinking about picking up a 970 to replace my aging 670, especially if I get the game for free, since this game is the reason I'd really be upgrading. (and DiRT Rally and ProjectCARS too...)

I currently have:
i7 3770k @ 3.5
8gb RAM
GTX 670

There isn't any reason to upgrade my processor still, right? Maybe get a better cooling setup and overclock? I feel like the real bottleneck is the GPU at this point.

I'm really starting to consider just being done with nVidia now. Reading benchmarks for the game, I was under the impression that Kepler was neglected and then reading around on various other forums, other people seem to have the same impression not just now but last year too.

I think I might just buy the 390x now instead of the next big Maxwell.
I've really been a bit of an nVidia fan lately too. Last AMD card I bought wasn't even by AMD, it was ATI and I haven't went to AMD because I kept thinking their drivers and general performance in games was worse. Now I'm not so sure.

This frustration might have just gave me that push I needed to take the plunge and go AMD this next round.

I think I'm with you on this ... I'm waiting for dat 390x at a reasonable price.

Your rig will murder the console version. Mine can and I run with a Phenom.

Of course if you want the best, go for the upgrade.

I'm getting mostly a locked 60 using the in-game limiter but it drops to low 50s every now and then. It seems to happen every time I go indoors and turn the camera around.

Everything in Graphics Ultra except Shadows and Foliage Distance-High. Everything on Post-Processing on except Sharpening and Motion Blur. @1080p.

I think I'm going to turn Hairworks off to see if I can get rid of those 50s drops. The only way I can notice them is the framerate counter, but it still just bothers me. I don't really see that much of a difference anyways, come to think of it. It's not like Tomb Raider.

2500K @4.5 w/ 2X 970 FTW editions overclock removed (I thought it was stable with letting Unigine and Furmark run for like...forever, but the game's crashed on me and I've been playing Dead Rising 3 lately and it doesn't like my overclock either. I guess I'll just leave them off for these games. It wasn't even that good an overclock...)

You get 60 FPS on ultra with a single 780? I really find it hard to believe you.

Any word yet on crash fixes?

I hope we get a response by this afternoon.

Realized my 980 is factory overclocked. I'm not underclocking it to play the game. I'll just wait.

Hmmm, I have been using GOG Galaxy and getting crashes. Is that the culprit??

Edit: and what is that Omega driver for?
-For those who can't start the game-
From this post. He deleted, renamed GOG.dll and Galazy.dll or you can put it in a backup folder.

I think I have solution for game.My game suffer from this Problem. When I online(internet) everything is fine.In offline mode you have unblock "witcher3.exe" from internet.Simple.You have to allow "witcher3.exe" to accessing internet in firewall even you not online. That is because it needs a connection to your localhost 127.0.0.1.

Or simple way is delete those file and game Run Perfectly without Error:
bin\ddi\GOG.dll
bin\x64\Galaxy.dll

How is the foliage now with HBAO+ working? Does the game looks better than you were expecting?

I was worried about all this downgrade malarkey also didn't like the look of the colour palette but the game looks absolutely superb. Better than I was expecting, yes.
