Hi I'm nvidia and I'm going to flub up the latest driver on your most anticipated game so you can't toggle full color range on your hdmi connection to your big screen.

With love,

anyone know what's up with 4k giving the sun glare these rings?

What files do i delete or change filename to skip the intros when you open the game?
I want it to go straight to main menu

C:\GOG Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\content\content0\movies\cutscenes\gamestart\bumpers

rename the file in there to bumpersOLD.usm

Working on finding the other cutscene now but this is a start :)

I'm thinking about reverting back to the GTA 5 drivers as this new one keeps crashing on me while on the desktop and its quite annoying.

For those that reverted back to the GTA 5 drivers can you post some performance differences if any?

Is there any kind of ETA on AMD drivers, or is it still just "this week"?

If I use AFR I average well over 60 frames at 1440p with two R9 290s, but the flickering makes the game unplayable.

Oh another weird thing.... 16:10 resolutions seem only semi-supported. The aspect ratio is fine, but certain UI elements don't reach the edges of the screen, such as the darkened bottom of the screen when reading billboards. It's just a gradient that ends like an inch from the bottom of the screen.

So, my trusty old PC is rocking...

- GTX670 2gb
- 8gb ram
- i5 3570K 3.4ghz

For some games it smokes my PS4, but the low v-ram of my 670 is starting to get worrying. Will I get better performance out of my computer or PS4 here? I probably won't be upgrading for a while.

Ended up caving in and getting this for PC.

My current specs:

Geforce GTX 760

Intel Core i5-4670K

8GB RAM

I'm currently trying to tighten up the settings to get the best and most stable experience possible, so I have a few questions:

1. Which settings are known to be the most taxing, aside from the hair (my framerate plummeted when I tried turning that on)?

2. Is there a way to turn off subtitles during pre-rendered movies/cutscenes?

3. I tried using my PS4 controller, but it was a real mess with the latency. Does this game not play nice with it?

4. Any other ini configs or other things I can apply to improve performance?

This Micro Stutter is killing me. Even when I go to the lowest settings it still happens. Im fine for about a min, and then it starts. Sound, video, controls all Stutter.

Has anybody had this issue, and if so did you find a way around it? I thought it may of had to do with my gamepad, but I get the same issues with M&KB

not sure what changed, perhaps a new game ready profile on geforce experience?

nonetheless, sli now appears to be working far better for me.
everything maxed except hairworks which i've turned off.
rock solid 60fps w/ 970's

Honestly for me vram usage has been low. At 1440 everything on ultra mine tops at 2.2gb

Try Max pre rendered frames: 1 in nvidia control panel

Also if you're windowed, try fullscreen, and vice versa

Are the beta drivers out yet, or did I miss this?

The game-ready drivers are out if that's what you mean?

SOrry I just realised how little my post revealed.

I've got a R9 280X and just wondering if I should source game ready ones or just update to most recent :)

I'm still thrilled the game is so playable with my 7850, but I notice in the area past the tutorial map that the weather effects (rain) can drop things below what is comfortable. I'm hoping the driver update can boost things. 3-5 more FPS on the minimum side would make all the difference.

What settings are you using? Do you have it locked at 30fps?

A mix of high and ultra, capped at 30. I tweaked things until there were next to no dips in that big starting area, but after that point, there are more dips. There are surprisingly few settings that make much of a difference. I can always adjust some things further, but now I'm used to those pretty graphics! :D

Nice, hopefully the AMD drivers help keep it above 30.

MSI 970.

I did. Twice and it was ignored. Search for it.

This is the one it fixed. Yes.

Not the crash I mean. I should have been more clear. I mean the freeze with the audio continuing. No display driver error. That's something else.

I'm sorry to say this did not fix the issue for me. I thought we were golden, but after somewhere between 1 and 2 hours of play, the game locked on me again. This time, it wasn't during a cutscene or a menu, just while riding my horse around the world. No error, music keeps playing.

FWIW, here are my specs:

Core i5 2500 3.3ghz (3.6 turbo)
8 GB DD3
EVGA GTX 980 4GB @ 1266mhz (1367mhz boost)
Win 8.1
Gaming is running off a 7200rpm HDD

Still no clue what is causing this, here's a list of things I've tried (with no success)
  • Disabling Shadowplay
  • Exiting Geforce Experience entirely
  • Setting Nvidia Control Panel to "Max Performance" for the game
  • Verifying Steam cache
  • Rolling Nvidia drivers back to GTA5 game-ready drivers from April 14 (don't quote me on the date)

It should be noted that I did a clean uninstall/reinstall of the drivers - removed the driver through device manager, downloaded the GTA5 driver from Nvidia's website, restarted, installed GTA5 driver, restarted, played game. I also stopped running the game through Big Picture.

Is it at all relevant here that I'm using HDMI?

Oh I'm playing in Fullscreen. I haven't tried Borderless Windowed, but it seems like that is causing its own set of problems, and I've had people say that does not fix this issue.

I was getting really bad FPS in the middle of the forest. Turned shadows from Ultra to High and got it to lock at 60. Hmm.

Also, for some reason my driver crashed and all my color settings reset. Yay.

For 30fps lock, any recommendations (e.g. INI) to reduce stutter/jitter as much as possible? On AMD GPU.

Thanks.
If the game's FPS cap solution is bad (I don't know if it is since I haven't been able to hop on and play it yet) there's something you can try (this was the best method for 30fps GTA 5):

Vsync on in control panel (normal vsync not half), cap FPS to 30 with RTSS. Triple Buffering on.

ok i just started it up with a 860m and an I7 4700HQ
i can run it PERFECTLY on ultra
dont meet minimum requirements my ass Can You Run It!
asus laptop btw
now if youll excuse me i need to go beat the first 2 before June 4th

Calling BS on this now unless we're talking 1280x720.

At 1080, my 980m gets a locked 30FPS without hairworks on Ultra.

In comparison, my desktop with a 980 gets 50-60FPS on all Ultra with the same settings and res.

Yeah people have reported that the in-game limiter does a bad job with pacing so capping in RivaTuner is a better option.

Is there any reason to have vsync/triple buffering on if you aren't experiencing tearing?

This game looks amazing on my 770 locked at 30fps. I have to turn down quite a lot for 60, it's not worth it to me in this game.

The cutscenes stutter though what's with that.

I'm getting similar performance on my OCed 6970 2GB.

Once you leave the prologue area to the main area, performance seems to dip a lot. Hope drivers can fix this.

Actually you probably won't need triple buffering since it only works for OpenGL games. If you have no tearing then by all means turn vsync off, but I'd try it on to see if it helps the stutter and basically to have consistent frame delivery and output. Only issue is it will cause a bit of input lag.

Why did they make a limit on the hud rescaling? I'm on 1920x1200 and the Hud Rescaler stops way before it hits the corners of the screen. Even on 1080 the hud feels like its a few inches too low.

Posting in case anyone with a low-end rig is on the fence. I have:

R6850 1GB
8GB RAM
i3 2100 (two cores)

... and the game runs and looks great on settings that varies from medium to high, with most postprocessing effects off and 1600 x 900 resolution.

put the frame setting to unlimited.

Douchebag. Yes, me.
Ok so I'm 90% sure the "stutter" when rotating the camera slowly with a gamepad is an issue with the controller input and not frame-pacing or anything like that.

I just did a test where I stood in place and rotated the camera, got the stutter. Then I walked Geralt in circles in the exact same spot, letting the camera auto rotate with him, no stutter. Stopped Geralt, rotated cam manually again, stutter.

It is definitely not the way the controller is being poled. This is an engine issue. I've had very similar behavior in other games, and I was almost convinced it was a controller issue as well- not stutter at all while panning the camera around when still, no stutter when the camera autodrives... but stutter if I moved the camera while moving the character. All of these games I have fixed the problem in by using DXTory and locking the frame rate to 60fps. In this game, that doesn't work.

If I unlock my framerate to 60 and the game can maintain 60fps, the stutter while panning the camera is greatly reduced, almost gone. But it's still slightly there.

When I'm playing locked at 30fps and I have tried everything to get rid of the stutter, and nothing has worked-

Locking the framerate to 30 using DXtory
Using adaptive vsync at 30fps with the nvidia control panel
Using windowed mode
Using nvidia control panel locked full vsync
Using borderless window, using fullscreen
Setting the nvidia control panel to render 1 frame ahead

And every mix and match combination of the above. Nothing gets rid of the camera pan stutter when panning the camera while moving.

Locking the game to 60fps through DXTory and using the NVidia control panel full vsync lock has almost eliminated it for me, but it still pops up every once in a while.

I have no idea how to get rid of it fully.

Okay.

I found my sweetspot. Pretty much max settings on a i5 3570k and a GTX 670 for a steady 30fps. Can't believe this card is still doing work.

Postprocessing: Everything is on including HBAO+. Chromatic and Sharpening are off.

Graphics: Vsync on and a 30fps lock got the weird stuttering effect removed it seems, the in game ones. Well, for most of the time.
Every setting is Ultra expect Foliage Visibility, that causes framedrops. Have that set to Medium. Hairworks is Off.

Any truth to conspiracy theories about shitty Kepler performance? Or simple case of architectural differences with Maxwell being that much better?

In any case, kinda strange my 960 gets similar performance to a 780....

Game is running great on my 760. I have everything set to high with AA and HBAO+ and I'm locked at 30 fps.

No crashing issues for me yet, but I will say I'm pretty bummed there aren't any options for PS button prompts. DS4 has become such a popular controller for PC gamers I can't believe that Xbox button prompts are still our only option on games released in 2015. Yeah its only a minor annoyance, but it would be nice.
