Any way to map the Xbox button on the 360 controller to bring up the map?
Not that I know of.

On the topic of controllers:

The game plays so much better on an Xbox one controller. I moved my PC to the 65" and I'm using the wireless 360 controller and its fucking garbage :(

Get a long usb cable (or a few of them). String them together. At the end connect a powered usb hub and then connect the controller to the hub.

Alternatively blame MS for their BS proprietary radio.

I have no idea what this is. No description or instructions anywhere. No offense, but I need a bit of assurance on what it is I'm about to download, ya know?

Sorry I'm on my phone so couldn't type out too much of a description. It's software that allows you to map keys to the pad buttons. Its used by others in this thread earlier.

I only had the download page bookmarked too, there should be link to the homepage somewhere but if in doubt just Google antimicro and you'll probably find some more info about it.

Is there a fix for the choppy cinematic movies yet?
Game runs on an average 60 fps for me but whenever there are narrator movies the game is sluggish as hell. Map screen too...

A reddit user is saying a new patch is available! Version 1.04.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Patch 1.04 changelog:

  • Corrects an issue in the dialog system that might rarely cause dialog looping in scenes.
  • Fixes an issue with incorrect behavior of Wild Hunt warriors after they were under the influence of Axii sign.
  • Corrects a bug causing spontaneous combustion of gas clouds.
  • 1280 x 720 resolution is now properly displaying as valid resolution option.
  • Fixes boat stuttering in cutscenes.
  • Texture rendering quality for high / ultra presets improved.
  • Further improvements in NVIDIA Hairworks performance.
  • A few additional Gwent cards are now available in the Prologue area.
  • Fixes an issue where users with usernames using non-latin characters were unable to import saves from Witcher 2.
  • Overall stability and performance improvements.
  • Fixes related to alt + tabbing and minimizing game window.
  • Game icon updated.
  • Enlarges the size of the loot pop-up window in the UI.
  • Fixes an issue where, in certain circumstances, the comparison window could be displayed outside of game borders in the UI.
  • Upgrading set items no longer destroys sockets.
  • Small UI tweaks for Gwent.
  • Corrects some missing translations in localized versions.

I'm not seeing anything on Steam yet.

Awwww yeah new patch, here we go. Eager to see what they mean in terms of performance - if that goddamn stutter is gone I'm gonna be a happy camper once I get back home!

What would be the best area to actually test FPS?

Oddly enough once you get to velen the Nowhere Inn town has a lot of post processing effects in it and it's actually a larger strain on your system than an urban center like novigrad.

That's the location where my frame rate suffers the most at least.

Welp, time to head back to White Orchard.

Currygan

at last, for christ's sake
finally got it. it runs mostly well around 40-42 outdoors with everything on ultra, but drops below 30 indoors with major stuttering that gets even worse during cutscenes. Patch was useless as well

I forgot my specs
GTX 780 TI
8 GB of ram
i7 4770k, no OC

edit: there's a new patch today? wish can't wait to get home, hopefully it fixes the stutter

I have the following on my 3570K/SSD/8GB RAM/Overclocked MSI 970 Gaming (1475MHz Core, 3985MHz - Memory)

SMAA injected using Sweetfx
FXAA, Tripe Buffering, Vertical Sync and 16xAF set in Nvidia Control Panel

Motion Blur, Blur, AA, Sharpening, DoF - Off
Bloom, Vignetting, light shafts - On
AO - HBAO+

Borderless Window
Hairworks - On
Background Characters - High
Shadow Quality - Medium
Grass Density - High
Foliage - Medum
Everything else - Ultra

I haven't played that much but I seem to get a steady 60fps, I'm playing on a 65" Plasma.

Any tips/comments?

I was thinking of trying rendering at 1440p, downsampling at 30fps. Hw do I go about this?

Don't run SMAA and FXAA at the same time. Pick one or the other. Don't run the game in borderless window mode (big performance drop in my experience).

To downsample, use DSR in Nvidia Control Panel. The factors are your native screen res * factor. The smoothness slider controls the gaussian filter applied when downsampling from the higher resolution. You need to set the game to run at the DSR resolution so for example if you downsample from 4k then you would set the game resolution to 4k. The resolutions come available as you tick the boxes in NV Control Panel. You probably want to drop all antialiasing with this as the downsampling and smoothness setting will pretty much do that for you.

Hows performance with the new patch guys?

Any improvements?

Just tested it here, no improvements whatsoever for me.

It´s weird, there are areas in this game where there´s absolutely nothing being rendered on the screen that justify the FPS drops.

Like, I was going through an area, lots of foliage near and far away, structures, 20-30 NPCs walking around, 35-40fps. Then I go to another place, walking around a single damn hut, no NPCs, like nothing, and it inexplicably drops to 25. And no matter the settings, I tried everything basically off/low, it STILL drops to those numbers in a lot of places.

Tried Hairworks with the new patch on GTx980,...similar FPS drops in dense forest areas with wolves as before.
Edit: though the performence does seem better...

Patch broke the weight limit mod again. I remember seeing a mod that didn't up the weight limit but dropped all weights to zero (or close to it) or something, that didn't get broken by patches, anyone got a link?

Here's my aging/old and busted rig:

AMD Phenom II x4 965 @ 3.8 ghz
AMD 7850 2 GB
4 GB RAM

Based on Techspot's analysis of the game, it looks like my CPU can get up to 55 FPS and my GPU gets between 31-35 FPS @ medium settings and 1080p (acceptable to me).

Now, my question is: Should I go for the PC version of the game with those specs, or get the PS4 version?

Would I get better framerates/IQ on PC or PS4?

Performance with Hairworks on my 970 is maybe a hair better with the new patch ;)

Still drops below 30 during any dialogue scene though.

Edit: It also looks like the game now has a very light sharpening filter on it by default, even with post processing sharpening off.
