CDPR not discussing Cyberpunk 2077 until 2017

Well, shit.

That's a long time. Hopefully they've just decided not to show a lot of pre-release footage this time around to prevent another downgrade discussion, so that we can expect a release 6 to 9 months after the re-announcement of the title. Otherwise the wait will be a terribly long one.

Whoa. I wasn't expecting it to miss all of next year. Maybe they scrapped some fake gameplay footage because they didn't want more downgrade discussions.

God, I hope it's not Ciri.

I hope that it's her more than anyone else. It would be really cool to have a woman protagonist in a Witcher game. And I see a lot of people praising her gameplay segments on TW3, which is really cool.

As for the news itself, I'm glad I don't know much about this project or its origins. That way, I don't have to be hyped for now.

Her gameplay segments are the weakest aspect in my opinion. She's got far less tools available to her, but thankfully they're really short. I know I'm in the minority, but I find her so uninteresting that it has a slight chance of killing my interest in the series. Unless of course something changes by the end of Wild Hunt, but I don't see that happening.

Wait, as in they're not going to talk about the game at all until 2017 or that it won't launch before then? The latter was expected, the first... yuck...

It'll release on XB1, PS4, PC aaaaand.... Nintendo NX next gen platform in 2020. We might see a definitive edition as a launch title for PS5 and next Xbox...

ok ok that was far-fetched enough...

Hi, I'm nortonff. I spend my life going into threads to say that I don't care about the topic of the thread. It's a really good use of my time.
And the award for earliest announcement ever goes to...

People are forgetting they made that early reveal trailer for the purpose of getting potential employers interested in the project and recruit more staff members.

Now people can stop asking them over and over about info, and not have hopes of gameplay at E3. Smart to get this out of the way nice and early.

Makes me also feel that considerate amount of work will be going into both Witcher 3 expansions too, nice.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
2017 release would be nice. avoid this downgrade thing that brought some negativity to witcher despite it being amazing.

2018 release minimum. All of their games have been on a 3-4 year cycle and I doubt they have really done any real development on the game simultaneously with W3.

I don't like that it was announced this early and in this fashion, but I'm not going to get upset about it. It's one of my most looked forward to games... So I guess I'll look forward to playing it in 2018 hopefully?

It just seems like they thought they could expand in a Valve like fashion by working on multiple projects at once. Then as TW3 started coming together they realized it wasn't possible and had to put Cyberpunk on hold. If that's the case then it's definitely for the best.

CDPR clearly wanted to release the game earlier or at least have some work done already, but TW3 must have consumed more resources than they initially thought and they made a smart choice by moving all the manpower to Wild Hunt. This way we get one amazing game now and another one later, instead of one mediocre game now and another one sooner. I'm okay with this, take your time CDPR.

Good timing for me buying a new computer ready to beast things with DX12 and fucktons of RAM.

I've never heard of that being used as a tactic before but even so, just seems like a long time before initial announcement and whenever this game might be released.

I imagine being in Poland makes it difficult to draw in talent so you have to think outside the box a bit. Even now, every Witcher 3 trailer has a little "WERE HIRING" message on the tail of it.

Different opinions, I guess, haha. If I'm not mistaken, she is being trained, right? So she can be in a completely different skill level with her own game. Still, she shouldn't be a female Geralt, so I do hope that she can have her own signature skills -- if she gets her own game, of course.

Good. don't repeat Witcher 3 reveal mistake.

God, I hope it's not Ciri.

Unless the events of W3 involve her becoming an actual Witcher, it'd be a huge change to drop all the potions and signs stuff, which I don't think she can do.

You guys realize that Ciri actually is the main protagonist in Andrzej Sapkowski books right (yes Geralt becme a secondary character later on in the books, and almost everything is about her). not wanting her to be the lead after Geralt story ended is weird.

Ciri the actual protagonist of the books, a source that also trained as a witcher and sorcerers when she was a kid, that have the fate of the world in her hands is better than any new random ass character CDPR might came with.

Also the games in not just about potions and signs.

Delayed discussion of this game is eventually exciting. Premature discussion is underwhelming forever.

2017 is just long enough for us to actually start thinking about a cyber-fueled world of cyborgs and flying machines. Right on the cusp -- I'm sure the timing is intentional.

Christ I wish they didn't even bother announcing it. At least they'll have that Witcher success money to funnel into it.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
That's kind of a shame.

I have to wonder about the point of their Witcher 3 expansions. There's an absurd amount of content in this game, I don't see myself really needing DLC right now. :p

Best time for DLC is soon after the game's release when people are still talking about it.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
People who think Ciri couldnt carry a game are nothing but trash. She certainly didnt have a problem doing it in the books.

Well at least Witcher is finally out of the way of development, though I had been hoping they were a lot further along on this. Kind of feels like they were eager to scramble for some early rights with that old teaser.
