Holy shit holding the start button (using a pad) on PC (probably xbone too?) brings you straight to the map. 57 hours in and I must've missed it when they said. this is big for me!

Can't believe how addicting this game is. I'm working on a deadline on a yearly report on my cancerregistry but all i can think of is Witcher 3. I'll blame CD project if i'll get fired, lol.

So I just read that you should keep your Wither Gear that you get in the begining of the game, because you can use that to upgrade later. I sold all my gear as soon as I got something better, so is there any way to get it back? Does the merchant still have it?

Also, is there any way to know what gear can be upgraded later? It's not like you can carry around every piece of armor that you find.
Well, there is a chance that he still got it. So better go now and look if it's still there.

The merchant that you sold it to should still have it.

I am not that far in to the game (lvl 14, ~36 hours in) but I have not come across anything that confirms that the original gear is upgradable.

feline, griffin and ursine gear can be upgraded, but you could always just craft the tier 1 versions again, i think.
(not sure about ursine, but it's definitely like that for feline and griffin)

also, i wouldn't worry too much. not like you'll miss out on some fantastic set bonus or an item with some utterly imbalanced stats.

I think the Kotaku article is wrong.

There is NO way of upgrading your wolf armor in the entire game. The other witcher gear requires you to keep their base forms to upgrade them to the next versions. You can safely throw or sell your wolf armor away because the other witcher gear is better as well.

Edit: I googled around and it seems the original armor can only be upgraded once and is quickly outclassed by the armor you get after you leave white orchard, so do what you want with them.

Ugh, there the game goes making me feel bad again

Main quest in Novigrad, torture related

Oh my god they pulled out Triss's fingernails :( :( :( I was trying to roll with that guy and was listening to the torture in the other room. Fight broke out anyway when I asked about the money. I'm tempted to just reload and clean house without trying to talk to him because oh my god fingernails :( I also hope she doesn't take offense to the fact that I let that happen, haha

Can you attack the drowners when they are in the water? I'm trying to find a treasure in a sunken ship and these little shits are starting to piss me off.

About a critical game choice in Novigrad:

I was recruited into Dijkstra's plot and was able to rescue Thaler from the trolls. However, he then sends me off without further details. Will there be a continuation or is this it?

Is it possible to break the main quest line, or miss out on main quest missions if you do the quests in a different order?.

The reason I ask is, because I appear to be doing the main story line in a very different way from every walk though I've had a peak at.

Or doesn't it matter?, you can safely do anything in any order and not miss anything?

That screenshot and quicksave trick on PC gamepad via antimicro is a life saver, I can finally ditch my keyboard for good for this game.

I'm on my deadline on monthly report but I can't stop browsing gaf and reddit to get more info about Witcher 3 lol.

And that merchant will gladly sell it back to you for 3x the price you sold it for. A bit surprised that the merchants don't have a buyback option.

Just installed patch 1.03 on PS4 but still can't advance the Pyres in Novigrad quest :-(

I just can't use the hidden button on the pillar to escape the cellar

Guess I'll just have to wait for 1.04 and go on with side questing and contracts and Gwent and exploring and treasure hunting and.....

There's a different conclusion if you go with the plan entirely (and not ask about the loot). Triss is cool like that, it was her idea. She can take a beating.

Wait, what? This is a thing?

You, sir, are my hero. Now if only there was a way to quickly access inventory and meditation and my main minor annoyances would be gone.

Hold touchpad for inventory, hold L1 then press square to meditate.

Not really, they paid attention to details and made it so that Geralt will have different conversations if you've skipped ahead or found something from another source than your original quest missons.

Like if you happen to kill monster A accidentally, you can go collect the rewards without doing the whole quest to find the monster.

Huzzah!

Not going to write up a detailed post as I have work to do but the game held a shocking level of quality throughout the 58 hours it took me to finish the game. That said the final boss is horrendous and reminded me of the Dark Vader fight from the Force Unleashed. Completely boring and tedious. Also really disappointed that the
game's post ending"And here is what happened to everyone" was in comic format and not given actual scenes
. Would have been nice to see
my new life with Triss.

Thank goodness! Because you know? Totally wouldn't blame a person for getting mad about that, haha.

I really wish the game would remember which quest you had selected when you look at your quest log... instead of collapsing all of the damn categories each time. Small thing, but massively frustrating me now.

I cant stop doing side quests, there is so much variety you never know where they will take you and almost all of them require an interesting decision to make.

I feel almost paralysed to continue with the main story because there is so much else to do.

I know your pain. Last week of my master thesis, and let's just say that I still have plenty of work to do. The Witcher 3 always being so close, isn't really helping in any regard.

Also guys, please be a bit more secretive with the spoilers. I enjoy reading and participating in this thread, but I have seen some people go: 'quest name' 'so sad :('. Sure it's not a direct spoiler, but I know for sure that when I get to that quest it's not going to end well or whatever.
Likewise, with somebody who said 'heart of the wood' and 'no happy endings'. Eh, as in quest ending or what? Etc.

Just please, be a bit more conscious with it.

I thought I was gonna be slick and use axii on the guard to not torture her til I got there, but this time axii failed me and all hell broke loose.

Suggest you extend spoiler tags to cover your impressions of the game's ending. Feels really dangerous to read this thread atm. Take care everyone.

on-topic:

The further I get into this game, the more convinced I become that this is the best third person RPG I have ever played. Loving it. Full time job and I've been playing every night until like 2am. I'm tired all the time, but it's worth it.

I'm even urging to write a letter to thank the developers and especially the writers. Oh, and also going to order the Witcher books to catch up as I've never read those. Heard that the next book isn't coming until like 2017 so I can take my time.

Oh crap... I assumed the Wolf gear wouldn't get a whole upgrade line as I still haven't found a quest for it, but I kept the original armor around because I thought I never upgraded it through the one diagram it does have and wanted to see how the upgrade looked. Turns out I probably upgraded it within like my first hour and just totally forgot about it because I've been lugging around the upgraded version. Doh.

Steam just downloaded a Contract DLC. Yeeee
Do we know where the quest can be found yet?

Wait, it isn't the "Devil's Pit" mine right next to where you start, is it?

I can't seem to see the new DLC's on Steam. I've only got the first two which is the hair/beard thing and the temerian? armour.

oh and can any one tell me how the framerate is on PS4 now after 1.03? got it on PC but might pick it up on PS4 as well.

Uhhh, I think I just hit that glitch that the patch is supposed to fix.......the screen is all white and it's been loading for a while =/

Reloaded and it works now

Guys please help me out here cause I am really about to pop a blood vessel or somethin...

is there a damn way to rearrange the order of your inventory?

I cannot believe that in order to use a cat potion I have to scroll down through 23452 books and notes...

Why didnt they at least put the potions on the top of the page like they did with oils?

I am seriously giving too much importance on such trivial matters, I know, still... help me out here...

No there isnt. I eventually ended up selling ALL of my old books and notes to a single vendor (the same guy that buys trophies off you at full value), at least if I need any of them back I know where he is...

I don't think there are over 23 000 books in the game. I think you added three numbers too many.

But yeah, that's one of my bigger complaints. It doesn't look like you can order them. I'd like to order them on type, value and weight for different scenarios, but nope.

I need to manage my inventory better, its becoming cluttered and I keep having to drop crap coz I get overweight!

All those notes and diaries and letters in my 'usable items' tab, do I need them? Any point holding onto them?

Did anyone notice a small bug regarding weight when you're dismantling things? You won't see your weight load decrease until you back out of the dismantling screen. I thought it was really weird I was dismantling multiple swords, but it looked like that did absolutely nothing to decrease my weight.

I don't remember if it's the same when selling items.
