The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

Reading about the bug now and I don't think it actually turns off all XP gains. Contracts seem to work fine. Some get hit with it in sidequests and some in Main quests.

Totally guessing but I think it may have to do with how far you are from the recommended level for the quest. By design, the game doesn't give XP for quests that are recommended for 6 levels below your current level (these are grayed out in your journal). It may be that the calculation is being performed incorrectly at times.

Yesterday I did mostly side stuff and then the Dandelion quest above. It was enough for me to hit both Level 14 and Level 15 so I was definitely getting XP for a lot of what I was doing even if some of it may have glitched.

I don't remember the suggested level for the
Dandelion
quest, but I searched and found someone's play-through and this is what they got at the end when they completed it.

They were level 16 and I was level 17 so there shouldn't be a reason why I wouldn't get anything :(

Geeze, are you strapped for coin the whole game? Repairing is expensive!

Money is low in the beginning.. later on you can sell expensive items to shops with higher rates.

Another thing is.. buy shells for 1 crown from the merchant at Novigrad, dismantling them gets you pearls, which can be sold for around 130 crowns. But once the armorer who buys them 130 each is out of money, its over.

2 days ago I had under 1000. I started looting and selling stuff, now I have 7000 and its more than enough for repairing.

So. I like Bethesda RPGs, this looked absolutely beautiful, and I just picked it up with my shiny new PS4.

I am a complete greenhorn. I know it's based on a book, but indulge me. What's it like? Will I enjoy it?

Im on the quest:"Final Preparations"(if thats a spoiler to you becaude you make final preparations before a major confrontation idk what to tell you.

I took that as my sign to get off and then finish the side stuff today before i dive headfirst into the ending.

Ciri better be the next protagonist for the Witcher games.

This game! This game!

Its sooooo good. After a long time there is a game to which I cant wait to return. Its dripping with atmosphere, is gorgeous and above all, has fantastic gameplay. No stupid fetch side quests. Every sidequest is interesting and unique in its way. The characters, including not important ones, are unique and interesting and have depth. The storyline is complex and fun. Its so much fun to unfold the story of each quest. Its simply masterclass. And the content, OMG its brimming with quality content!
CDP just schooled other developers, including Bioware and to some extent Bethesda, about how to make RPGs. Imagine a Mass effect this deep, complex, with such interesting characters and stories in every nook and cranny, this expansive with exploration! Zizz! But I dont have this much faith in Bioware these days.
If Cyberpunk 2077 is half as good as this, I will be fully satisfied.

Lets put it this way, I don't even like RPGs in general but I absolutely love this game. I would be surprised if anyone who likes other RPGs doesn't like this really.

I need help.
I'm playing the game on XBone. When I tried to save the game manually this message popped up:
"You cannot save the game now." I tried saving in different situations but that did not help.
I checked my load game & found out that the Auto save & check points are for yesterday. Which means there is no save for today's session.

It seems to be a hard drive malfunction I guess. What should I do?

Hard Reset. Only fix

... I like the Sims ;)

You mean it's more complex though? That's always good. How much customisation do you get for Geralt? (Is that his name...)

the quests are way more complex, and there's good story even on the sidequests.

customisation for Geralt is limited to haircuts and the armor you wear which makes sense because you are playing as Geralt, not as "yourself"

Bethesda RPGs are pretty much all I play as far as rpgs go. I love this game. It took a bit to get the controls down but now I am really enjoying the ride. I am shocked how much I like it to be honest.

Yeah, I definitely didn't get 1000XP for that quest.

While I want the bug to be fixed certainly, I'm kind of of two minds about it. I like the slow levelling and I already feel like levelling is accelerating more than I would like and if I had got 1000 XP there then I would be almost one whole level.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to list quest names without spoiler tags, in fact I prefer posters to do that prior to spoilers so I know whether or not I should click on it.

killed the gryphon so I guess im done with the "prologue"?

also did pretty much everything in white orchid, all the ? on the map and according to this IGN guide, I did all the sidequests. Neat :)

took me about 4-5 hours (steam says I have 7 but I know I had 2-3 hours of idling and messing with configs and whatnot before I actually started it for realsies) on the blood and bones difficulty or whatever its called (the one before the last)

Is there any way to end the quest with Rosa in good terms? No matter how I clean up after her when she meets those drunkards she's pissed at me :(

I love TW3 to death but Mass Effect had all these things, hence why the internet exploded when ME3 failed to deliver on the awesomeness of everything that came before it.

Yeah, have been keeping track of a few major bugs in the OP. The Xbox bug has stung quite a number of folks. Not sure how many read that section though :p

Not enough. lol

My life has been good make sure I quit the game (and not let it get into suspend state)

But I still have to do a hard reset every couple of days. It (The Witcher game) is doing something strange to the XBox. I hope that bug is addressed in the patch...but if not. Oh well. It is just a video game lol

No way. Don't tell me someone actually wished for the DAI "Ping" system of examination?

That was one of the most horrendous designs I've ever had the displeasure of playing. Having to press that button to ping constantly in that game was beyond tedious.

Man, sometimes controlling Geralt is such a pain in the ass. Seems like a really bad design choice since the game often requires pretty precise movements. For example, Being able to interact with things (examine, loot, etc...) can require precise fiddling of his position, but the controls just can't allow for that.

why do people care about this Yennifer? I've seen her like twice the entire game, 50+ hours in. Is it from previous games?

No. Books. She is like the 3rd most important character in the books. She is "the one" for Geralt. Hasnt been in the previous Witcher games as Geralt lost his memory.

Hmm, maybe I am not remembering ME 1 and 2 properly then. I remember ME3 and while it was decent, I didn't like it all that much.
During ME1 and 2's time, RPGs didn't 'click' with me all that much, so maybe that's the reason I didn't fully explore them.
Lets hope ME4 is as good as ME1 or 2, then.

ME had a problem with template design though, just like other Bioware games. ME2 fixed this a bit but at the expense of making the main story matter at all. And yeah ME3 lol.

I don't think any Bioware game has ever had this quality of writing though. Not even close. Then again they couldn't even touch TW1 or 2.

Mass Effect was good at coming up with likeable characters and then putting them into interesting situations. It resonated on such a wide scale because of its pretty accessible appeal; kind of like Star Wars. It grappled with a few deeper themes but never really beyond a surface level. It even had a blatant morality bar giving the player outright points in one direction or the other.

The Witcher takes a much more realistic approach. The world has a tactile grounding to it, a sense of amorality and real grit. That's what I think the other poster was praising and what Mass Effects didn't do.

Are there any need to have buyable items I should care about? I'm getting rich and I want to spend my money lol

Have you got formulas for everything? Those can get pricy

EDIT & white gull ingredients. make some white gull while you've got extra money

Repair kits for armor and swords come in handy if you forget to visit a blacksmith. I like to at least keep a weapon repair kit on me at all times in case I forget to before heading out on quests.

With Lambert's first quest of revenge, what did you all choose?
I ended up spring the guy. I felt like murdering the guy in cold blood wouldn't do anything to change the past and would just turn his children bitter. So I let him live. Maybe I overthought it.

Always buy and play Cards/buy Potion+Oil Formulas when you see a merchant because they could be semi-exclusive to that merchant. Otherwise I'd suggest not dismantling any weapons/armor unless they're really shite or you're desperate on mats, I've been able to craft all my Witcher sets fine up to this point without dismantling anything but craftables for them specifically, and my money influx from finding just under par swords and selling them got me to 20k ez.
