Feel like they spend 30 percent of budget on face reaction. 30 percent on CG dancing 25 percent on Maki legs and 15 percent on the rest.

Otherwise decent SoL. Need more song thought

Been reading up on that sort of thing
this is more then a slight deviation as they threw out Kumiko's attraction to Shiuichi turning instead to a barely tolerated childhood friend. Also, Reina's teacher fetish is stamped out early apparently, at least long enough to leave it on the cutting room floor. Also, there is more, more details that Kyoto Animation added themselves. Another clue to them hooking up is they switched to a first name basis, without the kuns, chans and other honorfics. Also, here is the actual song they played the duet with, I am told the title is, no shit, The Place We Found Love. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDi2gNhXtvs&feature=youtu.be Basically Koyto Animation decided to make them a couple and yes I consider them a couple now because you don't get to back down on this shit now.
Euphonium novel spoilers?
Lyrics to that song is
very suggestive as well. I've posted it before, I think. There was no way they chose that song without knowing what it implies. Unless it's my goggles talking and the song can be taken as them longing for Shuichi/Taki, but that would be quite a reach at this point since neither attraction has been developed in the show. There were two flags for Reina liking Taki-sensei in the anime, in episode 4 and 5.

Episode 4 where Reina defends Taki-sensei can be taken as her really thinking that he's a good teacher and nothing more. Episode 5 at the road junction though.. her reaction to Kumiko saying he's good looking. I wouldn't exactly say that they stamped it out since it was rather apparent here.

Euphonium 8 spoilers
As for episode 8,
as strong as my goggles are, Reina's "love confession" was not serious. Kumiko certainly didn't react in any way that would suggest that she has romantic feelings for Reina when she heard that. Points for it would be Reina dressing up for their little date, change in the way they address one another, the choice of song and Kumiko being utterly mesmerised by her. Then there's the red string of fate in the ending... You can't help but wonder why they're baiting us so much
.

I stand by what I said initially, if this ends in Kumiko and Reina as not a couple because male attraction rules the day, I riot.
And I shall riot with you.

See this is why I have grown to love Mikagura so much, they said fuck you to bating and fuck you to ambiguity. I am supremely flustered that we are still having this coded argument bullshit in the year of 2015.

They did change the way they addressed each other at the end, though. Or maybe that was just Reina who said Kumiko could call her that, I don't know if Kumiko reciprocated that. And Kumiko was mesmerized, heck she made this poetic monologue: "At that moment I wouldn't mind losing my life." I mean, what kind of person says that if they aren't in love?

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
"At that moment I wouldn't mind losing my life." I mean, what kind of person says that if they aren't in love?

She was probably caught up in the situation because Reina has a really good sense for the romantic, but I'm not sure it'll last once the yuri goggles drop.

It would be interesting if KyoAni really veered away from the source material though.

Seriously. It's a shame that series isn't more talked about or popular. It's very fun and I love Eruna so much :D

It's not just because of the goggles though. In literature, it is common to do some paradoxical comparison of love with suffering and dying.

I think that was
a call back to the comment she made earlier about likening the experience to being drawn to the Yuki-onna despite the risk of losing one's life. She's fine with being mesmerised by the Yuki-onna
.

I think my initial comment was a little confusing. I meant that those are points in favour of
there being an attraction between the two
. Apologies. I do wonder what is going on with my English at times.

Someone at TBS must've budged, because Re-Kan and OreGairu have been moved to 10/10:30 PM EST instead of 1/1:30 AM. Which is a much more reasonable time for me, even if there's some overlap with Fairy Tail in there. Hope this can carry through to the next season and I can get Dandelion at a time that's not super early or super late.

Space Pirate Mito 01-03

You can tell it's from a different era because the theme song explicitly mentions the main character's name. Yes, Mito is a clear example of the "looks like a kid but is really centuries old" character type, let's get that out of the way up front so the easy targets can be ignored in favor of what the series is actually trying to say. Which, so far, looks to be a mother/son bonding story. Just, y'know, with space pirates and mecha made from the weirdest things. Sabu's design is kinda drawing on the "Mammy" stereotype, which is just awkward from an American perspective. Aside from those things, the show's got a fun, outsized atmosphere and an art style that kinda looks like Denki-Gai or Kaitou Joker today. Something that's more on the cartoony side.

I'm also watching it for Tomoko Kawakami. Utena is the role that made her famous, but she's showing a pretty impressive range with Mito, too. Petulant, serious, goofy, lovestruck. In some ways, the way Mito is being portrayed reminds me of Ooishi Kuranosuke in ChuSingura 46+1.

I'm curious to see where this goes.

A real heartwarming episode after the last stressful and emotional episodes. It's nice seeing the main trio together again and interacting in such a friendly manner. Yukino's constant pursuit of cute things and Yui's adorable clinging brightened the darkness that has been present for a quite a while this season. I'm surprised at how well Hachiman seemed to actual naturally around them. The thing I was most shocked about however, was Iroha's sudden confession to Hayama but his rejection didn't shock me too much considering I think
he has a crush on Yukino
. The next episode will probably be about Iroha not committing to her job anymore mirroring last season's final arc in a way.

After thinking about it for a while, I can't say which conversation Hachiman, one with Yui and one with Yukino, that I liked better. They touch on separate sides of Hikigiya's personality. Yui tends to be closer to Hikki's shy nature and "friendly" character, and the callbacks to season 1 seems to imply that sooner or later he most likely will act for someone heart which now more than ever seems like Yui. Hikigiya's conversation with Yukino however seemed to imply a respect that has blossomed into a friendship. Yukino's statement for Hikki to help her someday and her talk about her wanting something different from him and her sister implies that her understanding of both herself and others has grown. She realizes that she has been inspired by both her sister and Hikki to be someone but she knows that it's to be a different person and not simply mimicking another.

The music at Destiny Land sounds way too much like the music at the Golden Saucer

Excellent analysis. You touched on all the right points.
Iroha is going to, just like you said stop being as productive in the meetings and that will cause quite some trouble. I also get a feeling she's going to stop the playful rejections towards Hachi. He's the only pillar to support her now.
EDIT: Well Yui and Yukino are going to be there for her too now, that will help.

Spoiler culture is venomous.

It can get annoying but what kinda bothers me is when an entire response is a spoiler bar.
SOmetimes its a response to an entire other spoiler bar and just kind of difficult to tell what the initial show its about is in casE I want to avoid a spoiler.

See this is why I have grown to love Mikagura so much, they said fuck you to bating and fuck you to ambiguity. I am supremely flustered that we are still having this coded argument bullshit in the year of 2015.

Is the show really that blunt? that might be refreshing if so.

It's a sad state of affairs when "yuri pandering" has become so ingrained in animegaf culture that people can't take a moment to self-evaluate and step out of that mindset and judge a work on its own merits.

I haven't watched much but if you are referring to Mikagura isn't that show very self aware about it anyway?

Ain't nobody got time for that.

Its much easier to throw terms like yuri pandering or otaku pandering around. The only times people have a problem with those terms is when it is thrown at a show they like.

lol

Love Live isn't exactly something I would call classify as a SoL (though the light novels definitely are). BTW, have you seen the second season? It's basically 2.75X better.

Would watch an A-Rise show.

The bullying of that minor vampire and of senator was hilarious.

I'm liking Dio here much more than I did his part 1 version. The World really seems to be some sort of
Kyouka Suigetsu
so far. Great ep. Less talky bits than usual and with Dio on the prowl, the tension remains high.

Doesn't help that there's also a contingent going "OMG YURI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" at anything remotely resembling yuri, well-developed relationships be damned.

And what well developed relationship might you be talking about now?

All KyoAni is trying to do is clearly cater to an audience. That, or they think girls go around feeling each other's faces the way they did in the show lol.

I'm sure that's just as prevalent as girls grabbing each other's breasts in the bathroom.

The subtext is pretty obvious but I think what Envelope was saying is that this doesn't necessarily mean it should be disregarded as "yuri pandering".

I find some of the stuff way too over the top and unnecessary. That said, it's not a dealbreaker or anything.

YOO WE HERE!! DIO is amazing so far and his stand seems to be truly OP from what we've seen. I love how he just got some badass cape for no reason other than looking great. We just started but man is it tense so far.

.

I haven't been paying attention to the conversation, but I just wanted to say that this is wrong. This behavior in anime is normally exibited in bathhouses and hot springs. Well, from my limited experience at least, just saying..
