The difference here between Senmue 3/HL3 and TLG is that Sony keeps reassuring us that TLG is still being made.

I bet they didn't show anything in the last few years because they've been reworking the game for PS4 and now it's looking AMAZING with PBR and PBL, real time GI and whatnot.

yeah I know they're still working "very hard" on it but what technical reasons can delay a game for so long ? Or what reason other than a technical reason can justify this delay ?
How do you explain a team, however small, can be hard at work on a game for so long (even with interruptions) and have absolutely nothing to show for the same amount of time (except the reveal trailers obviously) ?

The way I understand it, any work Ueda had to contribute to this project was completed a long time ago. If this game actually exists anymore (it doesn't) its because its in Sony development hell. And even if this project actually becomes something it will not be the game they presented on that E3 stage all those years ago.
Fumito Ueda said his creative contribution to the project was completed a "long time ago."

Excellent thread title change.
Gabe Newell mentioned they were still working on Half Life 3 a couple of years ago, plus a year ago there was a leak of the Source 2 file directory that shows they were porting Half Life 3 to Source 2.
