I don't know what they could do to make it fresh. Maybe tone down the shooting a little? I'm just sick of playing what feels like the exact same game over and over. To be fair they are giving the IP a little rest this time with a 3 year gap, but I'm still so very much burnt on this formula. Hopefully they'll do something to make this one stand out, but I'm not very confident judging from the video.

This game isn't for you.

Because price is a good indicator of how long or content rich a game is?

If this is sarcasm, it got lost on me. By this logic The Witcher 3 should be like 200 bucks or more since it came with free DLC and goodies and it's easy like 100 hours or more.

Sometimes prices are not cheaper because of the perception it gives, when you have a standard pricing and sudenly something it's cheaper, the first reaction of consumer it's questioning the quality.

Looks awesome and I never played Ratchet and Clank so that price makes it even more appealing.

Can that be the standard for remakes/remasters? Both in terms of quality and price..

I love the series, but I understand where you're coming form.

Having the lasting damage/effects from the weapons would go a long way in making it feel fresh.

jstevenson, are you able to say who is composing the soundtrack this time around yet?
I really like the music in the 8 minute gameplay video

Pretty honest on their part to price it at 40$ considering it will share a lot of contents with the original game and I guess it won't have multiplayer. It will benefit sales a lot.

Yep

-reimagining of an older game, releasing in tandem with a film
-meaty SP campaign but lacking the MP component from other games in the series/many modern games
-more of a family friendly IP

None of the above are bad things - just good reasons for SCEA to want to release it at a lower price. I think releasing Tools of Destruction at $60 was a big mistake and they seem to have agreed.

Good stuff on the pricing, they should have done this with The Order as well.

Should also make it an easier purchase for people who become curious after watching the movie.

As it pertains to this game what is the difference? If you can tell me how much the animation will improve - please do so - measure it, give me the example. Since you're not the developer, you sadly can't. You can just speculate that a higher frame-rate will equal smoother animations from what's already smooth animation - a more is better argument. That's defined as a hypothetical.

Will you ever see the game in 60 fps? No. So in short, debating an improvement that your eyes will never see.

What are you talking about? Of course the game would be smoother, by your definition even if the game slows to a crawl at 10fps the animation would still be "smooth" because they supposedly work independently to the frame-rate. There's this thing called PC and like most games that are based around 30fps, the difference is staggering when double the frame-rate. That is undisputed.

Here, even Uncharted 4, game confirmed to be 30fps has had a 60fps video modification you can view right here and clearly the difference in animation quality is night and day. No excuse now since you can literally switch between 30 and 60 on the fly. (Click 720 or 1080p for 60fps)

Lol yes you can, you are talking nonsense. Everything...every single animation will look better at 60FPS compared to 30 simply by the virtue of having more samples. There are more frames which automatically means that you have more frames between transition of two animations. This automatically means the blending will be smoother as you won't be skipping between those two positions as much.

I'll give you an example, a flip book that has one character jumping up in the air uses 60 pages to depict this. Now if you remove every other page from the flip book you are left with 30 of them and the animation will naturally become more choppy since there is a larger " gap" between the animation transition in each frame..gaps that used to be covered by frames that we just removed.

And we have seen how R&C looks at 60FPS, so it's not something that's purely imaginative.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Game looks incredible AND its $40? I'll be there day 1.

R&C series is amongst my favorite in gaming. Too bad the series fell off after Crack in Time. Hopefully this is a return to form, which it certainly looks like.

Okay people, you know why everything comes out at $60??

Because when a game isn't priced at $60, people assume it'll be short and/or bad.

Pre-ordered as fast as I could click.

What excuse. I bought TLOU twice (PS3 ver, vs. Remastered) and have played plenty of games at 60 fps vs. 30 fps. I am not foreign to PC gaming either. When we say smooth we refer to jankiness perceived by our eyes.

That argument was made by a previous poster, much slimmer and to the point.

As it pertains to this game, it's a hypothetical improvement that more than likely no one here will ever see. And chances of this game getting a remastered treatment are slim to none. That's the bottomline, and people are wasting their time foaming at 60 fps instead of looking at the game for what it's, 30 fps. It's just that simple.

The more is better argument is almost never wrong (except in the case of less is more). It's also a hypothetical - from where you're all sitting. The devs I am sure could get it running at 60s on their PCs. Hec 120 fps, 4k.

People complaining a game is not full price lol. Developers cannot win.

Ignore those people, they are crazy lol. For those of us interested in more value proposition, the price point is highly welcome. Soon as it's available for pre-order in the UK (at a hopefully sensible conversion rate), I'm nabbing it.

"Way longer" than 4-5 hours sounds promising enough.

To be fair, pricing like this is a rare occurrence so people aren't used to something new and substantial being priced well.

I was only mildly interested in this game but know im super hyped. I havent been this excited for a platformer in ages!

this plus Yooka-Laylee

finally getting the 3D platformers we deserve

now Naughty Dog just needs to bring back crash or jak and Nintendo needs to release a real 3D mario
