I am having a blast with this ver. I don't know if this is universal but damn I can get quality matches one after another in ranked.

It just got better too? The only thing that confuses me is why they didn't catch all this and delay it to have it fixed, but still. I didn't expect patches this fast and this robust.

All the prize titles are nice.

Hoping the input delay is on par with the 360 now. Can't really tell but for tourney players, it's a must.

They still need to add texture filtering to the rest of the stages, not just the training mode. Didn't check the low-res alpha effects, but probably still the same.

If this fixes it for good I'm in.
It feels much better. I'm not even a pro, and before there was a hugely noticeable input lag, so much so that I just stopped playing. I mean, I could literally push a button and wait for it to register. It feels a ton better now. Haven't tried online, and I'm not sure if the varying volume issue is still around, but there is definitely less lag.

Only tried offline and in training mode, with Claw on pad.

Desperately waiting to hear from DisplayLag or Gilley on the input lag. If it's fixed + the netcode is actually decent now, I'll be happy!

these patches have gone up WAY too fast for them to have not already known about and been working on them

seriously, why didnt they just push the game back 3 weeks and save themselves so much fucking headache

Glad to see the patches coming. It seems they are committed to making this the definitive version we should have gotten at launch. Keep at it and I'll purchase it soon :)

Sounds great. So far having a blast playing it since the first patch. Tons of people playing it.

Manufacturing time, shipping, pre-orders, etc, probably play into it.

Day one patches are also a big crutch these days developers lean on
(not in support of it, just stating a fact)
so maybe they just misjudged how long it would take to get these out the door and missed the day-one window.

My guess is that the higher ups were forcing deadlines while not understanding/caring about the bugs that were known and trying to be fixed thinking that it wouldn't matter as much as it did (which is what happens everywhere always). Then it did matter big time and now everyone scrambled to get it patched up as soon as possible, knowing already what they needed to fix

Uhh, they're the devs, of course they knew about the bugs/glitches when the game shipped. They have a longass list of things they didn't get to internally. Hell, they probably know about a bunch of engine-level issues they haven't addressed yet that none of us know about.

They didn't have the ability to say "hey, we're delaying this for 3 weeks". The developer of a game rarely, if ever, gets to make that call. Best case scenario is they ask the publisher/whoever hired them for permission, and said higher-up makes the decision. Sometimes they say yes, sometimes they say no, sometimes they say no and then they go hire another developer just for even asking that question, sometimes the dev doesn't even ask that question because they might be replaced if they do so.

The whole "thanks for the feedback, everyone!" song-and-dance from Sony at the time of release is frequent behavior from publishers because they don't want to say "yes, we shipped/approved a game with a shitton of glitches." But the reality is that everyone involved knows exactly the state of a game when it ships. Like I said, they actually know about the state of the game better than anyone else.

I honestly just want them to max out visuals on par with the PC ultra settings.

Actual gameplay is more important, so good for them to focus on the input lag.

The digital foundry side by side comparison was so similar that it can't possibly matter when the game is in full motion and you're focused on actually playing. All the under-the-hood stuff is way more important.

On topic: I might be imagining things but load times may have been ever so slightly reduced by this patch. The whole menu system seems a bit faster. If it's not in the notes I guess I must be making it up, though. Look forward to seeing if online works a bit better, though I feel like I've had a pretty good experience so far.

So is it looking like this version going to end up being what they said it was supposed to be? It seemed alright to me just now at but I'm in no way an expert at the game.

when i say they i mean the publisher. who is working with the developer (meaning both parties new about this shit)
its insane that sony wouldn't have held back a few weeks considering the stupid bad pr everyone got over this stuff

What interest I had in this waned when I heard about all the issues. I'm happy it did too, I've already bought SF4 about 7 times by now and I'll wait for something new instead. It's not like I play the games enough to warrant all that money anyway...
