Street Fighter IV selling extremely well on the 3DS

Both companies having teased/hinted about it over the years.

Nintendo's huge push to partner and license out of its characters to third-party developers this gen (Hyrule Warriors, Smash, Monster Hunter, Bayonetta, Pokken)

Additionally, with the exception of Snake and Megaman, every third party character added to the Smash roster has signified some type of partnership with said developers. (Sonic has since had a huge exclusive presence on Nintendo consoles, PacMan was included because the game was co-developed with Bamco) I feel like now, with both Megaman AND Ryu added to the roster, Capcom has to be developing/co-devolving an exclusive Nintendo title in return.

Yes, I'd expect a Koei Tecmo character to have more of a chance to end up in Smash 4 than any Konami or Hudson character given Konami's current attitude towards console gaming.

I'll be the first person to say that Sakurai sometimes makes some of the most baffling design decisions in regards to Smash. But I'm really not seeing the big deal in this case. He simply chose one set of homages over another. It's okay to be upset about it I suppose (I'm personally miffed his black gi + yellow headband combo didn't make it), but it just seems kinda trivial compared to some of the weirder decisions he's made.

Yeah. It debuted well and they were still shipping copies. It never made sense that the 3DS never got another fighter from them, when even the Vita got 2; which combined sales were still less than the 3DS game.

Pretty sure Capcom doesn't have to be doing anything of the sort, and I would actually be surprised if they were.

Its really not that big of a deal.
I just thought it was more fun to have those alts.
Its really trivial, nothing more than a small detail. But had so many posters going into "but, but, but..." that trying to answer them it seem it was bigger than what i really thought (did bad trying to defend me for what it looks).
I really like Ryu's inclusion, its just I would have prefered more fun alts, thats all

It very well might be. The 3DS version sold over a million on its own. I don't have any recent figures for the other versions.
