Nope. I charge my X1 controllers with micro USB and never take out the battery.

Nope. Just plug in the usb cable. If you buy the play and charge kit you get a 9 foot USB cable too.

Apple earbuds won't ever work. They're incompatible. You'll get audio but the mic won't work. That said, other similar earbuds, like the Amazon Fire Phone ones, will work just fine.
