Fantastic collection but I don't think it's for me. I already have all the Rare games on 360, XBLA, and the original Xbox. And with the Xbox One now being backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games, this collection is kinda redundant. And the collection doesn't really have many games that I'd be interested in that I don't already own. It's still a fantastic collection but I'd figure for a hardcore Rare fan, it's hard to justify buying this when I already own so many of them.

I'm excited to try out the super-early Rare games after hearing about them on a Retronauts podcast episode about Rare and its history.

Pretty hilarious that Grabbed by the Ghoulies is on there, but at least they're doing their best to making this collection complete (minus the glaringly missing Donkey Kong games and Goldeneye).

This collection really shows just how far Rare has fallen. They went from making some of the most groundbreaking games out there to mediocre games or games that are merely just "good". The latter isn't a bad thing of course, but considering it is Rare, they should be doing better.

Also why would anyone want the Xbox version of Conker? The N64 version is better in everyway, including graphics as the N64 one looks more like a Saturday morning cartoon while the XBox one looks very Dreamworks esque in comparison..

Don't have an XB1 but I am so very happy to see an honest to god retro compilation coming out. Not single games for $5 or a three pack for $15, but a real collection. Great stuff.

Is this the HD version or just the original game in widescreen with a higher resolution? They redid textures/character models for the HD version, right?

this is the HD version. Elvis looks like this on the N64 original:

I'm excited, never played the xbla version. I know the added the Goldeneye weapons to the multiplayer.

Because it's $30 for 30 games and if one cares enough about the differences one game shows that person probably still has an N64 hooked up.

Value and convenience.

When I buy an Xbox One, this is one of the titles I will buy. This was one of the better announcements tonight in my opinion.

I am at the Xbox Fan Fest right now and the Rare Replay Collection is here and playable. I realize I'm just a nobody but I can post my ugly mug with my badge for proof is needed.

I just got done going through 15 minutes of the package and asked the MS rep various questions.
The Spectrum games have a rewind feature when you click in the left analog stick. Meant to be a cushion for new all skill levels playing the package.
I got mixed answers regarding various UI changes. Xbox games that would display the black and white butttons get changed to the bumpers. However when I would boot up a 360 game, buttons were the same as a 360. So you'll see the Start button instead of whatever it is on the bone.
They have a milestone system in the game that acts as individual achievements for games in the package. These earn you stamps which are used to unlock video contact among other things in the package.
Games from the 360 on don't have unique milestones tied to them. Instead they are based on your Gamers core since those games have existing achievement systems.
Playing the older spectrum and NES games has a vanity feature that applies an old CRTish look over the game. I tried it briefly but wasn't a fan. Kept it at the native image and it looked nice and crisp.
The games also have another feature that I'm blanking on the name of, but it's bite sized challenges with leader board support. The one I tried my hand at had me assemble a rocket and fuel it under 60 seconds for the original Jetpac.
He said this collection was worked on internally by Rare themselves.
He mentioned they reached out to the Stamper brothers for video content about Project Dream and they've had an ongoing dialogue with them. According to the rep they were excited to collab.

I'm typing this all on mobile so I apologize for bad Grammer and spelling among other things. I typed this all stream of conciousness. Feel free to ask me questions. I may know the answer.

I'm hoping that this is the first of the collection resurgence. I don't mean to just get more and more copies of Namco Museum with the same games on it, but more collections of classics. I would love to see some collections of obscure arcade and console games (Exidy, Universal, Atari (both 8/16 bit computer and arcade), Intellivision, ColecoVision, Bally Astrocade, etc)

Back on topic, this is a day one purchase for me.

Thanks for the info. How do the N64 games like JFG hold up?

Oh I just remembered another thing. If you have 360 saves of Rare games saved to the cloud you can totally import them to the games in the package. It will also read your existing achievements for them as well.

The only playable N64 games were the Banjo games and Perfect Dark, which are the existing XBLA versions. All the other N64 games had a curtain over them. Not playable yet.

original version.

One of the better looking n64 games which scales up well, the HD release had different remastered textures... unless I am remembering it wrong.

guess not!

I'm finally going to get to play Blast Corps. I heard so many good things about the game, but it was always rented out when I was a kid. I hope I like it!

It's one of Rare's finest, in my opinion. I played the heck out of that game, trying for weeks and weeks to get platinums on everything. Totally worth it, though I'm not sure I'd dedicate that much time to it these days.
