Suzuki-san rolling around to Tupac after announcing Shenmue 3. Fucking LEGENDARY.

I watched the interview, it was funny. From the interview, the guy setting in the back is funding the game and will do the PC port. While his company isn't a big one, his company's fund plus Sony and kickstarter should be good I hope.

Kotaku: Getting The Rights To Shenmue Was Easier Than You’d Think

"“My company YSnet, we officially approached Sega a while ago, asking for the approval for the licenses,” Suzuki continued. “I was at Sega when Shenmue was made, as you may know, and they felt safe giving me the license to make the next one. They’re the reason why I was even able to make Shenmue.” When asked if Sega would be getting any percentage of profits from the eventual release of Shenmue III, Suzuki said that he couldn’t talk about the details of the deal he struck with Sega."

Don't know what movie this is from, but seems spoiler free.

Good on Sega for not being total dicks when they completely could have been.

Yu Suzuki was one of the main drivers behind Sega's success in the 80s and 90s, I'm not that surprised they treated him with respect with regards to this.

SEGA generally gets bad rep round the gaming community but they are a lot nicer than they are given credit, they are just broke.

This isn't KONAMI we are dealing with here.

Looks like Sega is making money from all of this though when Shenmue III is released. Not surprising.

Sega are the ones who didn't believe in Shenmue after the Dreamcast was done and over. Just a reminder for everyone.

Why are "gamers" so salty? Is it an Xbox thing? Kickstarter thing? I'd have been happy any way Shenmue came out be it Microsoft or Sony. I'm just happy to see them getting support. People are weird, man.

In an ideal world, I would want them to take all the time in the world and make Shenmue.
One massive game with all chapters 1-16 (still a bit annoyed they cut chapter 2)

But the fact that Shenmue is continuing at all I'm still having a hard time believing!

I really hope they add more pledge tiers above $500, would increase my pledge without hesitation.

Don't bother giving them attention. Just ignore all of that.

Judging by his profile I'd say that's a pretty good assumption =p

In this particular case I think it's just an Xbox moppet who is salty this isn't coming to his console wars camp. I wouldn't be concerned about the opinions of total losers such as him.

The guy has an Xbox background and avatar. What do you think it is?

But it still could, even if Sony is supporting it.

The Xbox people need to chill.

Honestly this just seems to be faux outrage. Nothing is being forced. You don't have to pledge to this if you don't want.

People seem to ignore the fact that Yu was going to do a kickstart regardless.

Were people this upset when Sony did the same thing for Amplitude? Might no.9 required funding that was picked up by a publisher and the same with Bloodstained.

Yeah, it just baffles me that people can be so salty about a game not coming to a console. I mean, I don't have a PS4 currently, but I'm in for PC. If I want a game that much I'll just get the console. Especially when we're talking about a game that's not going to be out for ~3 years, haha.

I don't know about that, but people were positively outraged when Nintendo funded Bayonetta 2.

Surely we get re-releases of 1 & 2 after this... I don't even need remasters/remakes, just the same games running at a higher resolution like JSR.

Alright, so now that the dust has settled, let's talk some details.

Obviously the game is in very early prototype stages. VERY early. It's good to see the prototype Ryo model. I know the models undergo changes throughout development so I'm hoping they really fix his face. Doesn't look at all like trademark Ryo.

Small complaint that I know will get fixed, just wanted to discuss it.

Absolutely! The only thing I fear. They need to change his face asap.

I said this earlier in the thread and no one really seemed to want to talk about it. :(

I think they will definitely (or at least I hope they do) fix Ryo's face and voice. Ryo looks awful right now and he sounds awful too.

It looks like none of the original voice actors have been contacted yet to work on Shenmue III based on what I've seen on social media so that has me worrying as well.

What are the thought on release?

2017, 2018, 2019?

2017 based on what the Kickstarter says. 2018 at the latest I think.

I was actually coming to this thread to discuss this exactly!

A 3D model like this one, even if just an early demonstration, is a bit worrying: Suzuki-san should have just settled for nothing but 'trademark Ryo' for his video to convince pledges...

Or maybe the work was rushed a bit? Arf :)
