Batman AK PC Perf Thread of DARKNESS, NO SETTINGS [30fps cap / intro removal in OP]

My GTX 970s are still running at 540mhz for some reason. I might uninstall and re-install drivers.

Ingame it's downclocking my 970's memory from 3800 Mhz to 3000. Not sure if it's the game doing it or the new drivers. Either way, incredibly annoying.

Performance is pretty disappointing, I knew the smoke would be a performance killer but even scenes without smoke were dropping all over the place 30,40,25, 60. Was tiring my eyes just playing the beginning. This is just at 1080p on GTX 970 and it looks like I might end up locking at 30 fps anyway :(
Makes me really appreciate the performance in Witcher 3 which I was playing just before, I think that game looks better and performs beautifully compared to this.
The options in this game are a joke too. Having to go to an .ini file to enable 60 fps.
Going to try with smoke off and shadows turned down now to see if that reaches a consistent 60.

I'd wager there's something not quite right with how the game streams assets into the world. My system can't seem to hold a steady 60fps at 1080p while both GPU and CPU loads are well below 50%. I'd say the game engine is the bottleneck in its current state. It reminds me of how Far Cry 4 (or Watch_Dogs, the Evil Within) ran at launch. Frame rate dips and stutters all over the place. It's a mess to say the least.

5820K @ 4.5Ghz
Titan X @ 1354Mhz
W8.1 64-bit w/ latest drivers
16GB DDR4
1TB Crucial SSD

yeah exactly. I'm confident it'll get patched, I just hope it's quickly.

Who did the PC port, Rocksteady or someone else?

Framerate in story mode is also not consistent for me (i7 4790K, R9 290), despite good and stable benchmark results. While I do get high fps, for example when standing at the top of a building and looking around, I have very irritating framerate drops when flying around and making turns. Maybe a streaming issue? Game is installed on SSD. The default 30 fps lock seems to be there for a reason, it seems... sigh.

I will try this out tonight but it sure sounds like I will be playing on PS4 until hopefully they fix their shit. My specs in advance are:

Intel 4790K
Nvidia GTX 980
16 GB RAM
SSD
Win 8.1
Gsync

There is no way the game would do that. I wonder if the drivers are borked. Got any other performance hungry games to test the drivers with?

what version of RivaTuner are you using please, cpuld you possible post your settings maybe a screenshot please?

i cant get the overlay to show in steam

Version is 6.3.0. Application detection set to High for BatmanAK.exe. OSD doesn't seem to appear for about 10s or so, you need to wait a little.

Lack of options is lame, going to have to figure out how to tweak the ini to disable Motion Blur, DOF, CA, and whatever other junk gets tossed into games now

Yeah I just tried Witcher 3 - all fine, 1442 Core and 3800 Memory. Will try a full driver wipe and reinstall them.

Hm, no problems here:

Win 7 Enterprise 64bit
i5 4670k 3.40GHz
16GB DDR3 RAM
970 GTX (today's drivers)
Evo 950 SSD

Running at 1080p with everything maxed (using the in-game video options).

Smoother than City so far.

I can't even install the new 15.6 beta. Every time I try it just says that the installer is either incomplete or corrupted :/

Another performance hungry game? This isn't one. I've monitored it using Riva Stat Tuner on my 980 and GPU usage never goes above 30% at 1080p with all normal settings at max and GameWorks off. I'm not surprised the GPU is kicking back and cracking open a beer, it's not being taxed in the slightest.

Well I'm an idiot, I thought that the thing that was happening earlier was the game being decrypted when it was just the download for the skin pack, thought it was decrypting because my CPU was being heavily utilized. <_< I turned off the VPN after going into offline mode and yeah, I got at least a three hour wait with everyone else not in Europe.

The movies are garbage. They run at a weird variable framerate, usually like 52ish. Why between this and Witcher 3 are simple things like prerendered movies getting screwed up?

yup, immediately noticed this when I just started up a new game. How does this happen lol.

Also probably posted already but I'll post it here.

lol. That's terrible! What happens to utilization with game works on?

Even Denuvo has been broken and cracks for games using it can be now made. I'm surprised if we some day get DRM that scene doesn't break eventually.

Yup, but it takes the crackers muuuch longer to crack so if the game stays uncracked for a few weeks, they are already happy campers! They consider that a win.

I'm sure you know this already, but if you installed the new Nvidia drivers (if you're on Nvidia cards), be sure to check the control panel and make sure SLI is enabled. For me it disabled SLI after I updated.

Still have an hour to go before I can test to see if it actually works though. :p

Yeah, I always enable it after driver updates, and have since triple, quadriple checked it. Apparently the game has no SLI bits.

Drivers launched without them, despite claiming it enables SLI.

so when is nvidia going to fix the sli problem? it is really unplayable with sli
fucking nvidia gameworks bullshit, everytime it's implanted in a game it turns out to run like shit

Did the game forget to install the Batmobile or something?

Do you have the right version for your OS (check the filename)? There seems to be a mixup on the AMD website, the Windows 8.1 driver is on the Windows 7 page and vice versa.

Just about to sleep but here's me

i7-4770k 3.5Ghz
MSI 780ti Twin Frozr 3GB
16GB RAM

Everything Maxed and the in game performance test is saying 45 fps Average but fraps is reporting back 31fps rock solid.

I'm not super impressed with how the game looks. I was fully expecting to ditch my 780ti and upgrade but this won't be the game that makes me do that. It's not a bad looking title but it's bland, the models arn't really amazing and some are pretty bad (poison ivy, gordon) The textures have lots of detail but ultimately most of the character textures look muddy and like early Unreal 3 stuff (Gears 1) The lighting in some cutscenes is really really flat but overall the city is nicely lit.

Dunno, I feel a bit deceived from previous footage. Which is a shame. It's not really that much of a step up from Origins. Different note entirely but the gameplay so far isn't selling me, it feels like I'm just going threw the motions. Hopefully that's a combination of me being a bit sleepy and early gameplay sections.

LOL

I'm sorry but that's hilariously unfortunate. I would run a check on your local files (in Steam, right click on the game > Properties > Local Files tab > Verify Integrity of Local Cache...

Error: Batmobile not found.

Any doubts I might have had about getting a 980 Ti are now gone after reading this thread. "It's overkill for 1080P" GTFO.

Are we reading the same thread? Lack of power doesn't seem to be the reason for the stutter and performance issues. Even a 980 TI might crap out.

So I got it working fine, and with V-sync on I could maintain 60 FPS. In-game though, I'm getting lots of stuttering. I'm assuming this is because of the V-sync. Should I use Nvidia's adaptive instead?

Once DRM has been cracked it's faster and faster to crack in future because its way of function doesn't change that much from e.g. game to game. I won't be surprised if AK is cracked by end of the week.

yeah exactly. I'm confident it'll get patched, I just hope it's quickly.

Who did the PC port, Rocksteady or someone else?

No idea who handled the port. Interestingly enough, it's capped at 30fps unless modified. It's as though it was never meant to be played at >30fps. :p

That's exactly it. Point the camera in certain directions and the frame rate will drop for no apparent reason.

Literally just got this error as well.

Windows 10 though, so I thought that was the issue.

Framerate didn't improve like at all with the driver update.

I also had stutter without V-Sync, did not seem to matter (AMD though). I have now locked the fps at 30, and no stutter. Whelp. Something seems off.

Yep, that's a similar read out to what I had. Verified integrity of the files and it didn't seem to have downloaded anything much at all!

What a sad state of affairs.

Performance on the Alpha is abyssal, going to try to do a driver wipe and see if that fixes the issue because it borked Witcher 3 as well for me

Batman: Alfred where's my batmobile?

I don't know, I think their streaming engine just doesn't play nice on some systems. To this day I still get stuttering in AC and AO while flying through the city. Putting them on an SSD helps but doesn't totally resolve the issue. There have been numerous posts on it over the years but I've never seen a solution.

Once I get this I'll probably just play with most things maxed and on and accept a 30 FPS lock via Rivatuner. I'm on a 780 and I really don't want to bother lowering shit, and from the sound of it, that's what it takes to get solid 60.

I wonder how many pages this thread will be when I wake up and our American friends version has unlocked.

I've getting some real bad stuttering as well as the audio hitching. Pretty disappointed. Is locking the framerate to 30 fixing it for some people? I might just do that until a fix is made available if that's the case.

My setup is
i7 4790k @ 4.0GHz
GTX 980 4GB
8GB RAM

Oooof. Tried that. 4563 files failed to validate and will be reacquired. The game folder is now empty. 33.8 GB to download. Oooh boy. Guess I don't need FlyVPN anymore...
