Media Create Sales: Week 25, 2015 (Jun 15 - Jun 21)

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U - 529,244 in it's first month
But keeping in mind that was during December I think Splatoon won't take too long to catch up especially with the impending August update where more people will probably pick it up as the value proposition and hype continues to build. We shall see how big it becomes, but things are looking real good in Japan for Splatoon especially with the fan art from famous manga artists coming out. I expect Splatoon to actually sell more than SSB Wii U due to the fact there was also SSB 3DS Released

Also, in August there's Obon festival and Nintendo-related games typically increases by a fair amount.

Why did RE6 do so much better than RE5?

RE5 got a bunch of rereleases and actually passed a million in total. When RE6 launched the install base was bigger and the fanbase was already there

At 370K we're shooting up the shooter chart pretty fast with not many signs of slowing down.

While the higher parts of the chart still seems like a stretch, it's going to rank very well in the end. It's pretty easy for me to imagine it going above Dirge of Cerberus.

(For the benefit of others, your chart from a previous thread.)

It's a stretch for most of the games on that list to be called shooters, but at this point I would bet against Splatoon to reach the top

Was the free game with MK8 promo the same in Japan?

Splatoon Wii U bump - 69.8K
Mario Kart Wii U bump - 55.9K

Also it seems a lot of people buying new Wii Us in Japan are also picking up MK8

It maybe due to the MK8 Wii U bundle, if it still exists.

MK8 effect on hw was likely a priori: people bought the Wii U in expectation of that very game. Splatoon is different: the IP was unproven so people are buying the hw a posteriori. The actual MK8 effect on hw was probably way bigger and cannot be computed.

I don't think we'll see a Splatoon spinoff on 3DS before it dies next year, apart from a possible cheap eShop cash-in.

You be able to play Splat2n on the NX's handheld SKU, though. Sounds like a 2017 title to me.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???

I remember you stating that Nintendo had big expectations for FE:If, do we have any tangible numbers to what that target is?

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Fire Emblem: Fates will be veeeery interesting to follow, between the two SKUs, the DLC route and digital sales.

Hmmm. Nintendo slowly becoming the second Level-5? When they had good one, they always had too little stock but when they had boomba, it is always boombastic.^_^

So can we put Famitsu digital in the garbage now.

Ehhh? Whats the problem here?

Nintendo seems very insecure about their software as of late. Or maybe they are trying to artificially push for digital sales.

Retailers order how much software they want, not publishers.

Well, I do believe Nintendo have quite a strong bargaining power vis-à-vis retailers, being by far the largest video game publisher in Japan, and therefore they might have a say in shipment amounts.

Cause we got stuff from Beril, and now the Splatoon disparities (but download cards!), and some other stuff.
I believe, when they were first rolling it out, I read that their data is derived from voluntary surveys at retail locations. I could be making this up though.

Wow, nice legs for Nintendo titles! WiiU holding a bit, Popolocrois doing alright, DMC doing a bit worse than what I expected (and can't see it having good legs)

What I meant was can you post some hard data and comparisons please so I can see how you have come to that conclusion? Or point me in the right direction?

As far as I'm aware the Splatoon disparity can be explained by download cards.

Don't know why you're reading anything into the splatoon thing its obvious download cards have sold hugely for it, hell the download card was the number 2 selling gaming thigh on Amazon for like a week

Beril said that Gunman Clive is over 140k. BoxBoy should be around that as well (it has passed Gunman Clive only recently).
Box Boy never appeared on the monthly reports.

Yo-kai Watch is still clinging into the Top 20 after re-entering last week from several weeks outside of it, albeit only with less than 2,000.

Remember when people said this would kill Pokémon? :p

Pokemon is dead. X/Y failed to sell 5 mil in Japan. :(

1, Who is Beril? (Seriously I don't know who that is)
2, Would I be correct in saying that Famitsu excludes pretty much every digital only title? Seeing as the top 30 can drop under 1,000 units yet the game always has a physical release.

Let me know If I'm right or wrong on the above.

Beril is the creator of Gunman Clive. The Box Boy figure can be derived from Beril's info.
Kirby Fighters, Minecraft (before physical release), among others were tracked.
Gunman Clive was released before famitsu evens started doing the digital chart

Sorry, meant Box Boy on the 2nd line.

I assume FEif numbers will be combined in the tracking. I wonder what will be the split for the two.

No. 10 for 3DS eShop is 10 Second Run which is dsiware title

Thanks! Didn't know the exact title.

Now, it'd be fantastic if you (or other Japanese 3DS/Wii U owners) could post the 3DS/Wii U only (no VC) All-Time eShop Chart :D

Ah ok. Well have famitsu ever published what they track in regards to digital and what they don't track? As I find it weird that pretty much every game on their digital list is also released in physical format (apart from Minecraft as you say) despite ridiculously low digital sales. I'd assume there would be some digital only games that do sell more than 1,000 units a month (can't prove that of course) so it'd be good to see Famitsu methodology.

(I thought Kirby Fighters had a retail release at the same time and the digital chart showed both physical and digital?)
