I'm only getting answers through the chat or this thread. I can barely hear anything! I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of people (who may be interested but aren't Shenmue super fans and thus have to be sold on the Kickstater) saw this, thought "why is this stream so bad" and bailed.

I had my volume on twitch at 50% and heard everything fine

Unless someone like say, Sony, swoops in to take control of the KS's management, it's way too late for that already.

Firing Awesome Japan is one thing.

Hiring someone capable to immediately take control of it, the coordination, planning, etc. All of these are time-consuming things on its own, never mind hurdles like negotiation with another marketing agency and other potential issues.

If this was a 60-day KS, there might be a chance for that. But with only 20 or so days left, kicking out A.Japan will do more bad than good, because clearly Ys Net don't have the skills to manage it on their own.

I disagree frankly. If THAT guy is their representative, if he's on the team arranging much of the KS details and announcements etc, it's a fucking calamity. I just thought he was some kind of uber fan been asked on to do this, not intricately involved with the KS campaign. They need Sony to come in, take control, and boss the motherfucker to $10 million (or just bloody fund the remaining few million required to make it so, can't be so hard!).

As shoddy as it was at times, and as cringey as the guy on the right was, GREAT questions were answered, and it was pretty much every question the community wanted answered except whether or not some old Sega games will be playable. For all intents and purposes, it wasnt a bad showing. Yeah it was a poverty stream, but they not everyone is spooky.

Someone needs to go through a channel that will not be intercepted by Awesome Japan and let Mr. Suzuki know how badly this went down. Do you think his Twitter is actually managed by him or by the firm?

Wow so it's over. Hard to put my thoughts into words right now. A train wreck in many ways from a visual, audio and pure presentation point of view.

Redshirt really was the centre of attention. However he did ask the pertinent questions fans/community has been asking for and we got updates on some of those major questions.

However I really got to wonder about Awesome Japan and frankly unless this guy turns into a meme/goes vital it's not going to help the KS campaign much

Well, on the plus side, it jumped close to $20,000 just during the hour the stream was on. That's something at least.

Now we just have to hope that the guy on the right goes viral and brings a lot of attention to the Kickstarter in the next couple of days.

Maybe whatever Awesome Japan does works well in Japan, but this stream was just poor. Who knows, perhaps they're working for peanuts. The next one needs to be better though, the videos that RSI does for Star Citizen makes you want to throw cash at your screen.

But yeah Shenmue III is going to be great.

Kickstarter has a great UI and system for communicating and fulfilling pledges. Someone definitely could step in and take over.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Shenmue III kickstarter has been a disaster Day 1 and continues to be to this day.

I've cancelled my pledge. I'm sorry but this stream was suppose to instill trust and confidence to those who already pledged or newcomers, and I leave from this event feeling the exact opposite.

anybody mind putting together a collection of the actual information revealed so newcomers to the thread aren't just swamped with "lol red shirt"?

Honestly, the horrifying revelation that this guy is behind the project is just so hysterical to me. I cannot contain myself - I'm dying here. My stomach hurts. It's like a horror movie that makes you laugh instead of scares you, even though it's still terrifying.

From the look of things, it seems like poor Yu came to this realization just as we did.

Someone needs to translate this. It seems like they are providing marketing services? Please tell me that's not true.

It's true.

Marketing services like Kickstarter support services (PR, communication with backers, application, language, the whole package basically), media coverage support, localisation and market research.

I just heard it was awful. How awful was it?

Low audio, questions being asked by some weird stoner putting gloves on, nodding and mime laughing, false start because they had the stream running on their laptop with the audio on leading to an echo, an attempt at reading live, non-screened questions from the Twitch chat (without another person even there to handle it), and just generally poor production levels all around.

Didn't Mark McDonald say in the latest 8-4 Play they were approached to do the Kickstarter a few years ago and that they did some bits of consultancy on it before having to pull out because of being waylaid with other stuff?

Too, too late in the day to give them a call again?

It's like he's in an acting class trying to emote or something...

God. What an embarrassment. Instead of attracting more backers I wouldn't be surprised if people started retracting. Ouch.

I missed this since I was watching CEO.

Scrubbing through the archive, this looks to be an incredibly bummy presentation with poor speakers.
