Solid Snake Japanese voice actor: ‘Kojima Productions has disbanded’

Do you honestly think that in say, 3 or 4 years, people wouldn't be hyped if they unveiled a huge open world metal gear with great graphics at an e3 conference? They could even quietly distance themselves from kojima, call it Metal Gear ____ and constantly say how much they love what kojima did for the series in PR, though of course they are putting their own spin on things. There's a formula to this.

I think "Fuck you, douchebags, this should be a Kojima game" would be the popular response.

I think you're really overestimating the amount of people that care about who makes the games they play.

You may be right but a part of me feels like MGS is kind of a special breed. Kojima and Metal Gear are synonymous with each other and have been since forever. His name is always there when you open that box. Its always right there in the beginning credits.
Also, Metal Gear sells well but its not some massive runaway hit sales wise compared to todays standards. It has a very set, very devoted fanbase that eats it up constantly and consistenty This fanbase probably adores Kojima as much as they adore the games and they are well aware of KojiPro disbanding and Konamis shitty handling of it.

I dont think its farfetched at all to think this is the end of MGS.

Still pisses me off that this guy voices Snake from the very beginning, and we get Kiefer'd when it arguably matters most. Screw that noise.

I know all Japanese vg publications are in bed with publishers, but still, someone there should grow some balls and write an exposè on whatever the hell is going down.

The Konami booth on Comic-con is literally just Yu-Gi-Oh. That is it.

R.I.P. Konami.

Or Nintendo. God knows they need him more.

It would be hard for Kojima to pull off his visions on a wii U or 3DS. If the NX is underpowered then that would be difficult as well. Sony or MS seem more likely. Even Square or Ubi seem more likely.

I mean, visions don't necessarily need high end hardware, just good ideas to drive them.

After rereading the game informer interview with him I wouldn't be surprised if doesn't make another game for some time. He talks about a long list of ideas and things he wants to do with books and movies being on there. He also said the only people he can really talk to are movie directors and indie game creatures. If does continue to make games I would like to see him create smaller more focused games/ideas.

People dissmissing Kojima going to nintendo, isn't he like a really good friend of Miyamoto?
He is, but he also has pretty close ties to Sony. He could honestly go either way if he had to go to a first party company. Regardless of who, any company would be lucky to have Kojima. Konami's loss is another company's massive gain.

Sony is cray cray if they don't hire Kojima (and his team.)

sony should hire kojima to head a new japanese studio.

So Sony is gonna try to top this year's E3 in 2016 by announcing that Kojima will be the head of their new ''Fox Productions'' first party studio

Sony must be excited at the prospects of a Kojima independent from Konami. Hope they give him whatever he wants and needs.

A Kojima outside the games industry would not be the same.

SCEJ presents...

A Studio Hideo production...

'Alloy Cog One'

Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo will fund Kojima's next game. Guaranteed. He won't need Kickstarter.

All this talk about Sony... Kojima's games for an HD console cost like 80 to 100+ million dollars to make when you factor in marketing and everything. Can a company that's bleeding like Sony afford a that? I don't even think Sony's most expensive project like Gran Turismo 5 costs as much as MGS4.

Only company that can really give Koji Pro the kind of money it was getting under Konami pretty much is MS, Activision, Nintendo, Valve, Facebook, and the other huge 3rd parties.

They're not called Kojima Productions LA anymore. Most of them are probably contractors too.

Not sure, but I feel like it might not come with MGSV.

That has to be a bummer.

"Got a job working for Kojima on the online Metal Gear man. It's great."

To

"I'm a temp worker and the studio no longer exists."

If one of the three were to get him it would probably be MS. They have the money

Microsoft is also cleaning house, they just recently laid off 7k+ people on the phone side and before that gutted their Xbox TV initiative. I doubt they're eager to jump head first into funding a full fledged Kojima game.

Could someone paint a quick thumbnail portrait of what happened in regards to the Konami side?

Or, Activision/EA???

You'd think with the state of the market it wouldn't be a first party studio that buys him, it'd be a 3rd party willing to do cross console.

And/or he actually does just retire and stops making AAA games on the regular.

GT5 costs 60 million to make.
There are no solid numbers but MGS4 costs less than 60 million to make.

Man, playing this game is gonna hurt I feels. I wish Koji pro members the best of luck in all their endeavors. They are a talented bunch, especially with the wizardry they put into the Fox Engine and all that lighting research/tech. Just amazing.

Stranger things have happened.

Like there are Japanese gamers left to rage about those things.

There will always be a small dedicated group of Japanese refusing to go along with the trend of mobile games. :p Believe you me, there are definitely Japanese gamers who will get upset by that. They definitely wouldn't want Kojima working with a bunch of baka gaijin. :p

I wonder how the Japanese gaming community is taking this news.
