Yeah im gonna start saving up credit/gift points/etc. on the side for em. Especially since they both seem to be climbing constantly. Sucky part is that Blast Wind wasnt that high on the expensive side a couple years ago. Hyper Duel has been for awhile.

Both have 120% awesome soundtracks.

From what I understand, Treasure can't self-publish any of their other HD games/ports (Silvergun, Bangai-O) because the publishing rights for those specific versions are held by the publishers (MS, D3).

Hmmm, I didn't know that and blast, that's a shame...

So Ikaruga was self-published by them on XBLA then, right?

Hey guys, let's all vote our beloved shmups to get them a spot on Xbox One's BC to X360.

So Ikaruga was self-published by them on XBLA then, right?

Ikaruga was published by MS on XBLA but I believe it was a different arrangement where MS "published" it as a way of getting early console exclusivity, but as far as I know, they straight-up paid for Silvergun, so that version's theirs.

Treasure owns the rights/IP to Ikaruga, Silvergun, Bangai-O and Stretch Panic, it's just those specific XBLA ports that they can't freely re-release. (Sega owns every version of Guardian Heroes)

They could always make a new Bangai-O and it'd be fine, but Silvergun's trickier--they can't really make a sequel without Iuchi and there's no sense in porting the barebones Saturn game again as it'll just compare unfavourably to the existing XBLA version. They could always just pay royalties for MS or have them publish it themselves for Windows 10 or whatever but it's not even a money issue, it's more trying to get these huge companies to devote the time to work out deals for relatively insignificant games like these.

There are so many. Too many. A handful at random: Armed Police Batrider, Batsugun, X Multiply, and Progear no Arashi.

What are the best shmups on next gen consoles? Digital, retail, import, whatever...

Honestly, there's nothing notable yet. There's a laggy PS4 port of the original Gradius and Resogun is kinda neat. Raiden V is coming to Xbox One.

along with tain's recommendations, check out dimahoo (great mahou daisakusen) which is the follow up to mahou daisakusen (sorcer striker). it was one of the first games to introduce polarity mechanics to the genre (similar to ikaruga).

also battle garegga if you've never played it. one of the best soundtracks in the genre

I guess everyone guessed it would be Deltazeal.

If you buy both Triangle Service games on Steam, will that cover all the content in Shooting Love 10th Anniversary on 360?

XIIZeal is the same as the 360 version from what I've seen. Unless something is different with DeltaZeal, what you asked is true.

I wonder if we'll ever get a shot at Radilgy 2. My kingdom for it.

I'd love that...honestly I'd like it if I could even figure out Karous on the Ultimate Shooting Collection (Milestone Collection1). Radirgy was super fun. Milestone is super fun in general and I'd be for seeing more of it.

EDIT:
Back on the Deltazeal stream new stuff.
Oooh...if there is demand they may be able to setup the ost for Deltazeal for purchase.

Lots of players anticipated this since the other half of Shooting Love 10th Anniversary was conspicuously missing ^_^;

I am happy to confirm that we will be releasing DeltaZeal!

Launch is expected in October, with a price similar to XIIZeal on Steam (12 USD or less).

Early testing on the beta version feels very similar to XIIZeal PC, and we've incorporated a lot of the improvements that have been made in XIIZeal's development so far (added shareable replays, fixed bugs, etc.). Barring the unexpected, I expect this will be a solid port as well. Please look forward to it!

You mean Radirgy Noa? I have it for 360, came with the Sakura Flamingo Collection. Ugh, I despise that game. Biggest waste of money of my life. :( Noa was the only game that played remotely ok in that pos but the damage was done, I never touched it again.

The company that owns the license to all the old Milestone games still exists but everyone involved with those games left and/or was let go, so there's no way the ports will even be as good as the Sakura Flamingo Archives versions, let alone better.

There's a Windows build of Radirgy Noa, incidentally--k.h.d.n hid it in the files of the last OST Milestone put out before it closed.

Whoa, I had no idea you were putting that much effort into these ports. Might grab them both at some point so I don't have to haul out my 360.

So if anybody bought Ketsui for PS3 and then either a) found it impossibly hard or b) thought you were experiencing display lag, something important I discovered this weekend:

Make sure the PS3 system settings are on the native resolution of your TV set. I had mine set on 1080p and was getting murdered by everything. I de-selected all other resolutions and then set the resolution to 720p and 480p respectively. There was a noticable improvement at 720p, but 480p proved to be the best fit. Despite using a big-screen I'm getting control response similar to the arcade, which is absolutely critical for Ketsui. If you don't have that, you'll be dying over and over again on the twitch-danmaku of the 1-2 mid-boss.

If you thought you sucked at Ketsui, you probably don't! Mess around with your display settings! I'm using HDMI, but Component would probably give even better results.

Thanks for sharing this! Will probably check with my monitor instead of the TV though.

Picked up and ran Astebreed on PS4 a few times. I really like it, but holy shit is it chatty. I usually dig stupid, drama-filled anime plots, but this was probably the first game where I had to turn that shit off. Was so distracting. Very cool that there was an option to disable the chatter.

There's a great article on Eurogamer about one of the last real arcade nexus in China. They all got some of the best Chinese STG players, with all the real PCBs, hanging on to dear life. The journalist asking about a player's favorite and least favorite shmup got a good chuckle out of me.

Although our skill levels are worlds apart, I'm pleasantly surprised to find our tastes are about even. When I ask him what he considers the best and worst the STG genre has to offer, he instantly throws up DoDonpachi DaiOuJou.

"For me it's the best of all. Because its bullets have an organic nature, and the pressure of the second loop [which restarts the game at a much higher difficulty level and strips you of all your lives] is incredible. I think it's the most perfectly constructed STG ever made. It took me four years of playing on weekends to get the 2 loop clear, but I'm still trying to improve my score. My next goal is 1.8 billion."

And the worst?

"Definitely Ikaruga," he replies.

I can't help but smile. Treasure's avant-garde polarity switching game was once a darling of the mainstream press, but among STG circles its virtues have never been so black and white.

"It's just not really an STG," he continues. "It doesn't really play the same. There's not a lot of actual shooting going on."

That is great news! I really like this game and spent a LOT of time going through it recently. Easily my favorite of the triangle service games.

I can't fucking believe that I got proven wrong so quickly, this was just tweeted by the shmups forum twitter. Not even even Radirgy Noa was safe.
