RIP

Goddammit I am full of so much anger and sadness right now.

Damn, that got me.

Rest in peace, Iwata.

Incredibly sad. He was one day younger than my dad.

I don't understand how you can die from a bile duct growth.

It's a type of cancer that blocks the normal function of the liver, the pancreas, the gallbladder, and the small intestines. The common bile duct's purpose is to transport this fluid called "bile" from the aforementioned organs over to the small intestines so that fats can be digested.

The problem is that there are more specific bile ducts that connect to this common channel and just telling us "bile duct growth" does not specify whether the cancer grew in the common duct, the hepatic ducts, the cystic duct, or even the pancreatic duct.

My ribbon request got lost in the thread. Requesting one for my avatar for a tribute.

And yes, please change the GAF logo for Iwata.

Really upsetting Nintendo of America has not said anything about this huge loss, through social media or their website. I really hope Nintendo of America/Europe/Australia/Japan do a home page splash screen in his honour, just like Apple did with Jobs.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. What a tragedy... a serious blow to the gaming community. God bless what he has done and accomplished. His memory and legacy will go on.

I've been crying since hearing the news, so I need a bit of an outlet to write this I suppose.

A few years ago a few thought I was kinda crazy because I got super frustrated I wasn't able to meet Mr. Iwata. During E3, I'd just show up too late here or there, always missing the window of opportunity to meet him. I really wanted to meet him because of everything he helped accomplish with Nintendo and I just wanted to say thanks. Call it something akin to meeting an idol or something, I don't know.

Anyway... my husband was lucky enough to work with him when he was in the RWC office and always had the nicest things to say about him. Well, whenever he was in the office, I'd have him take my 3DS to work to get Mr. Iwata's Mii and StreetPass. For SOME reason, he had all the rare puzzle pieces, who'da thunk it! One time when he was in town, I decided to write a private message to him, just for fun. I never thought he'd ever take the time to write something back.

Well, shockingly he did! I'm still stunned he took the time to do so because unlike E3, this is a company/work environment and I imagine he was fairly busy at a CEO.

Now he's passed on and I don't even have the right words. RIP Mr. Iwata, I really did like the banana joke.

This is the new Animal Crossing touching comic, but actually real. Thanks for sharing this story.

Maybe out of this tradegy something good will come out of it. Everyone here can agree that Nintendo was languishing and had been directionless as company since the failure of the WiiU. Maybe some new people at the top will take Nintendo to new heights.

He's inspired all of us at some point, I'm sure he'll continue to do so in death. Especially to those who knew him best.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
Can someone hook me up with a ribbon?

I can't believe this. Iwata played such a pivotal part in shaping my childhood. The gaming industry has lost someone truly special. A man who cared about the consumer, loved what he did, and knew the definition of humility. He downplayed his own health so fans wouldn't worry; so it seemed like everything was fine at Nintendo. He loved video games from the bottom of his heart and he loved being able to share those experiences with us. A man who, through thick and thin, did his best to personally connect directly to the consumer. Iwata was an incredible man and the world is a bitter darker without him in it.

I would love to see Fan art of him flying into the clouds with the Balloon Fight ballons tied to his back, Kirby on his star in the background with the Mother/Earthbound world below.

I'm glad I've taken the time to read through this thread. A lot of heart warming posts and pictures. Iwata truly is one of the greatest people in this industry and his contributions will not be forgotten.

My heart </3 I do not know really how to react to this...just devastating :(
Iwata Asks was, by far, one of my favorite things. He'll be sorely missed.

This shit is devastating and makes me concerned for Nintendo. I expected Miyamoto to die before Iwata.

I'm just so sad about him dying. Our get well card didn't work.... :(
