Batman: Arkham Knight |OT| Protect Gotham Racing

I am like you and was loving the batmobile until just after this section so be prepared .

I still love it, but that camera when you're
fleeing from the Cloudburst's attacks
is just pure disaster. I don't know why that happens, but that made that combat 10x harder than it should be. And I finiched it without upgrading the Batmobile's armor, so it was even harder...
But all the rest of the Batmobile is top notch!

If you ever go back to the AR Race challenge, try the first person view, I guarantee you'll dominate it.

Third person is perfectly fine for the single player stuff though.
Probably would've been a good idea before I beat all those challenges. ._.

That's cool man, but are the intricacies of the combat system taught to me, or do I just have to 'get it' via the vague button prompts that pop up every now and then?

The key to freeflow is to not button mash. Its a system designed to specifically discourage that. Its much more of a finesse system.

Well, personal attacks aside....

My reflexes are not "shitty". I'm not the first person to have complaints about the poor handling and "fun" of the Batmobile sections of the game. I'm glad you love the batmobile so much, but you sir, from all accounts, are in the minority.

Tell me you thought the batmobile fight against
Arkham Knight in the tunnle machine
was honestly well done and fun.....please, it was a gimmick fight with poor controls and a shitty camera that made it harder than it needed to be. The constant auto saves made the difficulty of the fight moot anyways, being as dying just reset you to the last chunk of health to be taken away.

It's not a problem of difficulty or "shitty reflexes" as much as it is a problem of shitty implementation of something that SHOULD have been handled much better.
I respectfully disagree. I see the complaint often about how hard it is to drive or maneuver or even shoot and aim, and I don't agree. Anybody who has ever played a third person action game featuring vehicles should be accustomed to the controls and camera. Anybody with any FPS experience can control the twin sticks, so again I disagree about any poor handling. Yes it's a bit floaty, but I think realistic handling would have made it much worse.

I read all these complaints before I played the game so I was honestly waiting and expecting these shitty controls and shitty tank battles this "majority" spoke of during my entire playthrough. And yet, I had only issues with the difficulty on the final drone battle, which made me a better player. The camera was a light issue for me when trying to escape, but after one or two tries it became a non-issue.

I do seem to be in the minority [online] but my friends and I seem to have zero issues. I played on Hard, too.

I just feel like if we got the same by-the-numbers sequel, it would have been critically panned so Rocksteady would have faced criticism either way.

Apologies for the insult, buddy.

Fuck whatever stupid dickhead made this last freaking riddler race bullshit. This is so goddamned dumb. Why can't I just restart my fucking lap when I mess up?

Bah, I barely had time for 30 minutes of gaming before I have a long work week out of town and I nearly ended up throwing my damned controller at the TV.

So I picked up a digital version for PS4 last night.

I am kinda tempted by the Season Pass (mostly for the Batmobile skins!) but it is a little pricey.

What is the consensus so far on DLC? Have they given a plan for what comes out each month?

About 15 percent or so through right now and.... what the fuck!?.... I'm LOOOVIN' it!

FYI, I REALLY didn't care for Arkham City and still thing Asylum is the best in the franchise

Do I need to complete the challenges to get the 100% ending?
No.

Also, every game needs a model viewer. Seriously, these models look incredibly convincing.

I showed my friend some of the models yesterday and he was astounded.

Wasn't that the last tank segment though? The only thing after that is the
underground chase sequence
.

Is that right? There's the
short shootout at the foot of the building after the boss battle
and
the one outside of the GCPD,
I think.

There could be more but there's at least that.

When
Arkham Knight destroyed the Batmobile
, I was like, "YAAAY!"

When
Batman got a new one from Lucious Fox,
I was like, "BOO!!"

I know this must have been stated already countless times, but I have to chip in as well...

Fuck Batmobile...

I cant believe how overused it is and how much content there is for it... The batmobile challenges are more than the actual Batman ones and they are one of the most frustrating experiences I ever had in gaming.

I dont know what the frigging Hell Rocksteady had in mind when they created Batmobile. It could have been a cool addition, but right now it is a POS that handles crap, plays crap, is completely opposite of Batman's modus operandi and the missions designed for it a mess...

Yesterday I realized that Batmobile actually makes me hate the game a bit. I cant understand how Rocksteady thought they had created something amazing with batmobile and decided to completely fill the game with content for it... smh...

Anyway, I really have been trying to enjoy this -very big part- of the game, but its just bad. Like really really bad.

Over and out.

PS: The above is my personal opinion ofc.

Try doing it in first person view, if you haven't already. I couldn't believe how much easier it was, especially that U-Turn on the wall. I also beat the the Riddler challenge for the same race on my first attempt that way.

Conroy had some great lines in City though.

I think there was an interrogation line like "Do you have any idea how hard it is to pick up your teeth with broken fingers?". Like shieeet.

To be perfectly honest I'm not that big of a fan of Conroy in the Arkham games. He's terrific in the animated series though.

I'm not a fan of Conroy in the Arkham games either. He's horrendous. It's a performance without any sense of direction, devoid of character. In the animated series they would do a first pass at the dialogue, then another go at it while watching the visuals at a alter date. With the Arkham games I get the impression Kevin Conroy is just reading lines on a piece of paper.

And according to Conroy himself, for the previous games in the series at least, they don't play well for the multi-million dollars the games make and it's solid blocks of four hour sessions sitting in the booth recording lines.

Conroy has given better performances in video games. Infinite Crisis, DC Universe Online, even Injustice's performance has character.

In the Arkham games, especially City and Knight, Batman is just stoic as fuck and the voice performance is just boring.

I can't find the last Riddler trophy. According to the Riddler menu, it's on Bleake Island. It's the second trophy in the second group of riddles.
According to the map, I've got all riddles on Bleake Island itself. Same with GCPD and Panessa Studios. Where else could it be? Somewhere in the Clock Tower?

edit: Found it. It was in the area of one of the Gunrunner missions.

Fuck those fucking brutes.
I had a pretty hard time countering those due to how fast their swing is. They are thankfully much easier to spot than armored thugs in previous games so it is easy to build up an 8x combo out of their range and then simply take the brute down with a single super bat-claw combo.

What's the best way to take out the militia roadblocks that have multiple drones and armed soldiers? Even if I disable four of the guns and hack a drone, the rest of them shoot me before I can accomplish much.

There might be a way to get your Batmobile in. Sometimes ramping into the roadblock, other times finding a switch that will bring the barriers down.

The easiest way is to find a way to get the Batmobile in there.

Are the bridges down on the island you're on?

Picked this up reasonably cheap and just playing today for a few hours, not sold on it at the moment. Doing the ACE Chemicals stuff and having to stop the action every 5 minutes to drive the batmobile through is pretty tiresome to be honest. Is it always like this?

I finished the game a few days ago.

I thought the last quarter of the game was pretty bad in terms of design. Constant tank battles and frustrating fights. That fight
outside of the GCPD
had me fuming. Just when I thought I was done with the batmobile, they would throw you right into another tedious tank battle.

Took me 14 hours to finish the main story. I really enjoyed the game for the most part but I could have really done without the batmobile combat.

I think it lessens a bit post Ace Chemicals (when you are outside of the tutorial, basically) and there's a better balance in the middle of the game, but you'll have a lot of Batmobile scenarios to come.

For me it was complete opposite. I had a harder time spotting them than the armored thugs.

really dont understand all the hate for the Batmobile... :/ I love it the tank too... its really not that hard to get used to... I LOOOVED the
Cloudburst Tank fight
<3

Different strokes for different folks. The people that loved it probably love shooter and/or racer games. The people that hated probably dont like those games.

In the actual game, I just felt that its use should have been cut in half and replaced with predator and/or combat scenarios and replaced one or two of the boss battles with an actual boss battle the most obvious being (end game spoiler)
Deathstroke
.

In the AR challenges, I hated worse than anything in the world. My OCD forced me to get the 69 stars, but there is absolutely no way I could have gotten the platinum if not for the 9 stars that came from the scarecrow challenges. It was one of the most miserable gaming experiences ever.

I will NEVER touch those AR challenges again. Oh, I fucking hate them so much.

Yo those Batmobile racing AR challenges are hard as nails. I'm not talking about the Riddler ones - I'm referring to the races where you're supposed to somehow know where to go and get these off-the-beaten-path hourglasses to extend your time even though the arrows on the road are supposedly pointing you towards the most direct route.

Did anyone have to use a guide for these? Are you just supposed to trial-and-error it until you have some rote memorization of where the hourglasses are?

These and Slumdog Billionaire can go die in a fire.

Unless there are some really far off the main path, you should be able to spot them. The one that I needed an hourglass on had most of them either further away from the next checkpoint but visible, or they were sitting in legitimate shortcuts (e.g. in a parking garage).

just started playing and I'm liking it a lot. There are way too many options (for me) for movesets, and seemingly random button modifiers - I'll happily just mash away for now :)

Just had three jump moments in short succession.

in the chemical plant about to put the last canister in, turn around and BOOM the bloody Joker in your face

Commissioner Gorden in first person mode, checking out the 4/5 detainees, turning around and BOCK there is batman in your face

just randomly traversing the city to get to the next mission. grapple up a tower and a massive bat thing jumps out at me. Jumped out of my skin at that one

That last one got me too. Luckily no one was in the room with me to see my scaredy cat reaction.

All I have left are the Riddler trophies, but I wish they would let you free roam the city as any of the heroes, or even Azrael. And I miss the beat em up challenges kind of like Joker's Funhouse and the Penguin Lounge one as well from Arkham City.

Within the story mode all I have left is
the Riddler and Firefly
.

I already got the
Knightfall
ending.

But to get the
real(?) Knightfall ending
, do I need to get to 100%, i.e. all the AR stuff and capture all the MW villains, or just capture the last two MW villains I have left?

I ask because
this Riddler shit is beyond boring
.
