[RUMOR] MGS V: TPP and Pes 2016 to be 1080p 60 fps on Xbox One?

Permanently A

The fact that this is even news is sad to be honest. I thought this would be the standard going into next gen (well not 60fps necessarily, but certainly 1080p)

I'm really really happy for Xbox One owners and I'll soon be one too however...... the fact of the matter is PS4 is more powerful so I really also hope that machine is pushed to its limits. MS have done an amazing job making the most of the Xbox One hardware but I'm surprised Sony haven't made the same strides.

Um, yes, they have.

Look at Uncharted 4 for example. Name one Xbox One game that can compete with that game graphically.

Plus DriveClub & The Order: 1886.

While we would have heard about it already I'd love to see Kojima pull another MGS2: You play Johnny the entire game after the prologue of MGS5. Meryl, Otacon and Raiden are the only mission buddies. Entire storyline takes place in Iowa.

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
So you don't care if those lighting and effects are blurry as hell?

I don't percieve aassive difference between res in actual use (when comparisons aren't side by side). I do notice effects. In a perfect world, I could have both, if there must be a tradeoff, I'll take a lower res every time.

Mgs5 at 720p but matching the ps4 version everywhere else would be preferred over the x1 demo effects at 1080p imo

Internet is going to be so boring if X1 hit 1080p. First 90fps KI story, TR 1080p confirmation and now PES 2016. This sucks

Nah... Internet still entertaining. Go check out 2016 presidential politics.
They're giving out each others' personal cell phone numbers now! :D

On topic though, looking forward to official word on MGSV resolution now.
I'd love to 100% achievement it on my Xbox..Trophies just don't do it for me.

Why would it be? It's not like the many differences would not still exist to debate. If an XBO and PS4 game both hit 1080p, there are many times still many other differences in framerate, texture work, etc.

And as we've seen, only some games are still hitting equal resolutions or framerates, there's still a shit ton that don't. The arguments will be here forever, because people need to know what's in the stuff they're purchasing and if they're multiplatform which version is definitively superior

Name one 360 game that looked better than Uncharted on PS3, but what does that prove? That Naughty Dog is a great developer and can probably pull the same off on Xbox One albeit at 900p ;-)

I wouldn't get excited until how this was achieved is made clear. Obviously some of it will be engine changes, code optimization specific to XB1 memory architecture and improved SDK, etc. but obviously we could also be talking pared back effects, model complexity, etc. to achieve 1080p/60fps too.

Still 720p on previous Fox Engine games seemed off too so it's good it's improving. Hopefully the improvements in engine and code will also reflect on what they deliver on PC and PS4 as much as possible (although of course XB1 architecture specific stuff likely wouldn't matter much).

I don't believe it. Too many people on gaf already told me that the XB1 is simply too underpowered to handle the Fox Engine.

They could try, but you're not going to see that exact same graphical quality due to the weaker GPU & less eSRAM.

Mostly true however more cpu = less time needed for cpu stuff = more time available for gpu stuff which could mean a higher res.

...but you're not going to be doing GPU calculations on the CPU, which are the type of calculations which influence performance (framerate) against resolution (fidelity)...

By optimizing the CPU usage, you'll get better framerates in areas bottlenecked by CPU performance. You won't, however, get better performance at higher resolutions by increasing the ceiling on your CPU performance.

Kojima's team probably found a way to optimize the game better so it would run at 1080p without sacrificing too much else. End of story.

Architecture is the same, so all of the neat modern effects could be pulled off exactly the same, the only difference is performance which can be adjusted by dropping more than 600,000 pixels. Batman AK looks as good as the Unreal Samaritan demo in terms of effects and was beautifully pulled off on the PS4 at 1080p, Xbox One pulled it off as well but at 900p, the same would apply to any game under the same talent.

Very cool if MGSV gets a major bump.

Everyone deserves to play Kojima's final masterpiece in the best way possible.

sorry last gen so sry

So, somehow they optimised those games to the point where they were able to, all at the same time:

- go from low to high resolution textures
- increase the rendering resolution from 720p to 1080p
- achieve a framerate of 60fps

Have they found a genie in a lamp?

Quantum Break Demo at Gamescom.

Quantum Break looks great (I'll be buying an XBO for it), and Remedy are one of my top 3 devs, but there's no way they can match Uncharted 4. And The Order 1886 probably already has QB beat.

Naughty Dog have a goddamn nuclear physicist on their team with Uncharted 4, for god's sake. Just to make the maths that extra good.

This crap again? Both systems can do 1080p/60. Devs wanting to push graphics to show a "next-gen leap" is when the problems come in. Even if PS4/XB1 had 5TF GPUs, a lot of devs would still push the graphics.

And if MGSV hits 1080p/60 on XB1, it'll probably be a lower horizontal res than 1920.

Pretty sad that people still do not get this. It had been like this on the PC for generations.

GZ on PS4 ran at a perfect 60fps which means it runs at an even higher frame rate before getting capped. XB1 should be able to run the same quality just with dips.

So my guess is either

900p or similar at 60fps
or 1080p with dips

It might get Vulkan at some point for all we know

PS4 from the start had its own fast low-level API, there is no need for giving it something else. I find it funny how some posters here think that PS4 suddenly needs to upgrade itself with something. :) It had normal good stuff from the start.

But OK. MS publicly promotes all of its upgrades [in hope of building some goodwill or hype] that are moving away from initial bad xbone form, so I get why someone can think that Sony should start publicly promoting its SDK updates [which are also happening on regular basis, only they are just more full of minor optimizations].

They can compete, but they all loose [especially RotTT which is a crossgen game that is not upgraded much from TR:DE]

I have the ps4 version preordered but if it makes the ps4 sound like a jet engine ill swap it with the xbox version now that its on par.

This is what the rumors says, only time will tell what the sacrifices have been.

They will reduce visuals in some way [draw distance, post processing effect strength, etc]. But as thread name suggest, this is just a rumor. Lets wait for official info.

I haven't said anything about the PS4 "needing to upgrade itself with something". This sentence is literally the only thing I posted:

It might get Vulkan at some point for all we know

In response to:

Is PS4 getting DX12 or a hidden GPU?

The only reason I brought it up is because it was suggested during the Vulkan talk

Seriously. I'm all for technical parity if only for arguments like this to die down.

No.

We can ignore/ban the fanboys, you can't ignore the game in front of you being purposely held back for the sake of said trolling.

Those arguments will never go away as long a we live in a tribal like competitive society.

Quantum Break Demo at Gamescom.

I've always felt that quantum break doesn't look that great. Graphically, it's just never looked impressive to me. Comparing to uncharted is a bit far fetched even if you do think it looks good. Say this as an Xbox owner, just cannot get hyped for that game.

Seriously. I'm all for technical parity if only for arguments like this to die down.

No way man. All that will happen is folks will move onto new topics.
