Both N3DS and N3DS XL Bundles!

27/07/2015

27th July, 2015 – To celebrate the launch of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for Nintendo 3DS family systems on 2nd October, Nintendo of Europe is launching a range of new products – including all-new hardware bundles – to give fans of the series and new players alike a variety of options to enjoy a one-of-a-kind handheld gaming experience like only Nintendo offers.

From 2nd October, Animal Crossing fans with a penchant for interior or exterior design can go all out with Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for Nintendo 3DS family systems. Join the Nook’s Homes family business and make hundreds of your favourite animals happy by designing their dream home – some might even ask you to spruce up their garden! Go beyond home décor and try your hand at bigger projects like a school or a café, and assign unexpected roles to some of your favourite animal friends.

At launch, a limited number of copies of the game sold in stores will come with one special amiibo card that allows the player to call up the card’s character and let their imagination run wild designing a house for them. What kind of home would you build for Tom Nook or Isabelle? Additional amiibo cards will be sold separately in packs of three. Out of these three, one card will always be a special amiibo card, meaning it features a character whose house you won’t be able to build without using its amiibo card. Each card can be used across multiple copies of the game, so they’re perfect for collecting and trading with friends.

Owners of New Nintendo 3DS or New Nintendo 3DS XL systems can tap the amiibo card to the NFC area on the bottom screen, while owners of original Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL or Nintendo 2DS systems can purchase the NFC Reader/Writer accessory to enjoy amiibo functionality in compatible software.

The launch of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for Nintendo 3DS will be accompanied by the following additional releases on 2nd October:

New Nintendo 3DS + Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Pack: a white New Nintendo 3DS system with a digital copy of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer* , a unique set of cover plates** and one special amiibo card
New Nintendo 3DS XL Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Edition: a white New Nintendo 3DS XL system with a unique, game-themed cover design, a digital copy of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer* and one special amiibo card
Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer + NFC Reader/Writer Pack: a physical copy of the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer game, one special amiibo card and the NFC Reader/Writer accessory
Standalone NFC Reader/Writer accessory
New Nintendo 3DS cover plates No. 5 (featuring K.K. Slider), 6 (featuring Isabelle) and 27 (featuring a variety of animals from the series)
Series 1 Animal Crossing amiibo cards Pack: each pack contains 1 special amiibo card and 2 regular amiibo cards

Whether you’re new to the Nintendo 3DS experience or an existing system owner, the perfect bundle for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer for you is available from 2nd October.

*Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer is pre-installed on a 4GB microSD card as part of this bundle offering.

**The set of cover plates included in the New Nintendo 3DS + Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Pack will not be sold separately in Europe.

Just a question because I can't seem to find out - is this a standard Animal Crossing game with just the ability to redesign Neighbors' homes?

Oh shit... I've been debating whether I need to keep my old ACNL XL since I have an n3DS but I guess I could ditch both and buy one of these. Hmm

It's a spin-off title just focused on designwork of houses and buildings in the city

My interest just went from nearly none to whoa.

I love the effort they put into the products. Not sure if my wallet can afford much of this though.

Issue is, as said before, the amiibo cards. The first set (first of several) has 100 cards in including 17 special cards and 83 normal ones. That'll get quite expensive seeing as there's only 3 in a booster.

Thanks, that's what it seemed like but I couldn't find a clear answer.

I've never been crazy on the designing part, I've always enjoyed the mundane tasks every day so I'll pass on this one.

Interesting, so the cards will really be sold in packs of three here, with one guaranteed special card, just like in Japan.

I guess there's a positive and negative side to that, depending on what you're looking for. Those wanting to unlock the amiibo exclusive content will be happy with this decision while collectors definitely won't be as it makes collecting all the cards much more difficult (and thus, expensive).

If only they'd announce the prices... Should be €3 max but I'm afraid they're gonna ask €5.

Unfortunately, Nintendo never announces prices for Europe due to some ridiculous ruling where they was called out for "price fixing", so they now let retailers decide prices.

Wait...3 cards per pack ? I thought they included 6.

Only in America are they 6 per pack. In Japan and Europe, it's 3.

That's not true. They are free to announce RRP which are perfectly legal. They are simply not to allowed to prevent retailers from buying software/hardware in a low-cost country to resell those in high-cost countries at lower prices than suggested by Nintendo:

The fines follow a two-year probe by the commission into claims that Nintendo prevented distributors from selling goods from low-cost countries in states where prices were higher.

Prices of Nintendo products were up to 65% higher in Germany or the Netherlands than in Britain.

Concerning RRPs, Nintendo simply chose not to announce any of those anymore. The only indications of RRPs are eShop prices and wholesale prices now.

Does someone yet have an answer for why they are perceptive enough to design the N3DS face plates right-way-up (from almost every viewing angle), but all other model in-built special covers are upside-down?

Oh, I thought there was a correlation between the two. My apologies.

Fuck you NOA

How come?

ETA: oh, I think I understand. Because there is no N3DS regular size in NA, right? That is understandably frustrating. I'm in NA myself but haven't felt the interest to upgrade. I'm sure faceplates would have piqued my interest some if available here, though.

I want that NFC reader pack in America.

Also I'm super glad that this card series is for Animal Crossing. You're free to do it with Fire Emblem too Nintendo. Keep it to series I'm not super into.

Well, it'll depend somewhat on the pricetag for the boosters, which I don't think we've seen officially yet. I've seen some stores set preorder prices at £10, and I really don't see them being anything like that pricey.

I bet Nintendo's target is to hit the 'pocket money' bracket.

Well it's 300 Yen in Japan per booster, so it'd probably be like £2

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
I would easily sell my Majora's Mask N3DSXL for one of those :(

I'll never understand why Nintendo puts images on the top screen up side down. It's the same as Apple turning the Apple logo the other way on their lap tops so when it is opened; the apple is facing down.

I still don't get what it is you actually do in this game--they removed the slow-burn grind of acquiring furniture and other goods for... what, exactly? The villagers make requests for particular designs but they don't seem to actually pay attention to anything you do and there's doesn't seem to be anything else to keep you occupied.

I may just get myself one of these. Don't need one at all as I already have a n3DS XL and a Japanese n3DS, but I really like those designs. Just a question of, which one to go for.

That was one of the complaints in the preview--there's no real endgame here, and apparently in the preview builds you would listen to the animals yet even if you gave them something completely opposite of what they wanted, they would be fine with it.

Do we know how much this game is relying on Amiibo yet? Buying Amiibo cards doesn't interest me, so if that's the only way to get anything to do in the game then I'm not really interested.

The Face Plates and XL look really nice, but I have no interest in the game. : (And worse, no money in the piggy bank. :( )

No separate faceplates in Europe ? Well I hope it means it will be available in Japan... I won't buy another console to get them nice faceplates

Not much. When you scan in an amiibo card that specific villager will show up and you can design a house for him/her, meaning you can sidestep RNG as otherwise the 'missions' are randomized as far as I know.

The only exception, and thus amiibo exclusive content, are the "special cards" mentioned in the OP, of which one card will always be included in a booster pack of three. These cards unlock the special NPCs, such as Isabelle and Tom Nook. They can not be unlocked through normal play.

The cover plate is available separately in Japan and comes out this Friday. Though pre-orders seems to be sold out everywhere, which shouldn't come as a surprise :p.

BTW I will probably be setting up an import OT for this game around Thursday/Friday - if anyone happens to know a good OT title, let me know :p. I really don't have time to brainstorm on one.

So Amiibo is mandatory if I want to see my favourite characters? Urgh. I mean that's not as bad as it could be but still pretty lame. Thanks for the info!
