I bought my PS4 to play PS4 games, not PS3 games. I'm kind of tired of this remaster generation

There's nothing stopping you from playing new games, and every console generation has had ports of older games. The only thing new nowadays is that people like to complain about it on the internet.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
This is sort of pathetic.

I have nothing against them remastering PS3 games but when you consider the drought of actual PS4 exclusives at the moment this is a bit stupid.

Why? It's a quick and easy way to bring games to the system, giving those who haven't played them opportunity to do so, while those who already played them don't miss anything. Development costs are rather low, and development can be outsourced to small, external teams. The profit made from remasters can be invested into the development of new games, which, as we all know, is expensive. So I don't see how remasters hinder the development of new games. In fact, they support it.

Everybody wins. Keep them coming. (Same is true for Xbox.)

Where the hell she at Sony?

Can't be long now. Please.

Why even bother? The game didn't even sell.

Isn't that exactly why they should do it?

Yeah, because instead Armature and Iron Galaxy would be working on their AAA game instead right now.

Fair point, but it does feel like Sony are filling in the drought of actual PS4 exclusives with remasters.
That's exactly what they are doing and they are selling a lot of consoles and games with this strategy.

I think a lot of their first party efforts hit some speed bumps so they have to fill out their lineup with games, whether they be remasters or extensive third party deals.

Demon Souls would need more than a remaster. It's still a brilliant game, but it didn't age amazingly well.
I don't think there is a need for it with all the other Souls games coming out.

They are easier and faster to make. But I agree, they need more new games.

I'd like a Ratchet and Clank (PS3) collection on PS4.

They really should partner with Sega to bring over the Platinum back catalogue, and let them do PC versions too.

Also see about getting CD Projekt Red to do a PS4 Witcher 2 release. Kind of surprised they didn't do that before Witcher 3.

ICO & SOTC HD HD is another obvious one.

I thought this year would see an end for the need for PS3 remasters.

Especially if they're charging pretty much full price for them.

I am not really worried by this when you consider that both Uncharted and GoW3 were both farmed out to other developers (Blue Point & Wholesale Algorithm)

If they stopped new 1st party games then I might have an issue.

Demon's Souls needs to be remastered, seriously.

You know what would be nice to but will never happen ? Yakuza 1-5 on PS4.

Also: 1st party studios are working on new games, remasters are being outsourced. So no resources are wasted (Bluepoint is taking care of the UC collection while ND is making UC4).

Oh this drought of games! Until Dawn, Tearaway, Everybody Goes To The Rapture, Sengoku Basara 4, Tomorrow Children, and Sony exclusive stuff like Dragon Quest Heroes!

Oh how you tease us, Sony, by promising games and not releasing anything outside my constantly extending goalposts!

RDR! I'm really ashamed to admit that I never got around to play this on PS3. I still have it, but my PS3 is gathering dust. :/

Also Heavy Rain. (But this was announced already, right?)

This better means that a Motorstorm Anthology is coming.

I could see Shadow of the Colossus being remade as an introduction to The last Guardian too.

TWISTED METAL.
Damn that game is good.

Killzone 2 with retouched textures and Resistance 3 as well.
Resistance 3 was held back with its really blurry and low resolution on PS3.

We know the PS4 remaster is happening since the Korean ratings boarded had a posting for it. I'm guessing it'll be announced at TGS alongside the sequel.

Speaking of GR, Toyama and Naoko Sato (GR's story/scenario/event designer) did a livestream yesterday for Siren

It's not all. A remaster can be done relatively cheaply and relatively quickly by a studio like Bluepoint who excels at making ports. A brand new game for a new platform by a AAA studio would cost a lot more and take a lot more time.

Edit: sorry for the dogpile, I didn't realize 80,000 other posters were going to say basically the same thing

You're totally right. Rather than having some additional remasters on the release schedule it would be better if there was just nothing.

You're complaining about a drought in the same sentence and can't even follow your own logic.

They fucked up Metal Gear Solid 3. Didn't they fuck up Zone of The Enders as well? Hexadrive fixed zoe 2 on ps3 at least. Bluepoint is the last company I want making remasters/ports.

Sony have so many games they could remaster.

I want the Ratchet Future Collection and Puppeteer.

If a Ratchet one was made include a demo of the Ratchet Remake.

Puppeteer came out the same week as GTAV and just before the PS4. It needs another chance. It's such an amazing game.

Twisted Metal PS3 at 1080P60 with zero framerate issues and a finally fixed MP would be my choice, but I'm biased. The game was awesome, but pushed out with issues after dev hell and left to die. They could finally fix and support it.

I say remaster PS Allstars while fixing some of the more glaring issues and adding characters. I'd gladly throw $30-40 at that. I had fun with it. Also yes please remaster one, of if not the greatest super hero game of all time. Kat has to come back.

You don't know what you're talking about.
MGS3 HD is perfect, and Bluepoint didn't do ZOE.

What ? What did they fuck up in MGS3 ? Can you elaborate?

Bluepoint is one of the best studios when it comes to remasters and ports.

I would love some PS2 remasters/ports. Like Gitaroo Man or something. I don't need to play a lot of the last gen stuff again.

I've only encountered 1 scenario where the framerate dropped. That's while playing split-screen during shit tons of action. Otherwise the framerate was/is rock solid.
