Where the hell she at Sony?

I could get behind that.

Their decision won't please everybody... But I can understand why they would do more remasters.

Wow, a lot of you guys seem excited for these games! Let me let you in on a really big secret.

Go turn on your PS3.
You can play these right now! No waiting! You can probably buy them super cheap!

I know, right? The PS4 is so awesome the games are out years before they're released!

Do you also deride PC gamers when they're excited about their favorite console games coming to PC, where they can play them at a higher fidelity?

Demon's Souls or bust. And I don't even love it that much. It just would make a PS4 purchase easier if I could sell my current PS3.

I'll go turn the PS3 I don't have to play these games in barely HD resolutions and shite framerate!

Or I can use my money as I fucking see fit.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...only Europe?!? That's some bs and have to believe not entirely accurate. Makes no sense not to release in U.S. (and elsewhere too).

Nope, its only in Europe. No idea why...

Hi everyone. We’re really excited to finally reveal that two classic Quantic Dream games are coming to PlayStation 4 only for Europe and the PAL region – we’re bringing both Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls to a PS4 near you soon. Both titles will be available as individual digital releases, with a two-game bundle also available both digitally and physically.

Heavy Rain came out in 2010 and was well received, though Quantic Dream's next game, Beyond: Two Souls, didn't fare quite so well. One of the few details revealed in the blog post is that in the new PS4 version you'll be able to experience the story of Jodie - played by Ellen Page - chronologically for the first time, and both games will only be available in Europe and PAL regions.

My PS3 can't play these games at 60fps or in 1080p (or with improved effects and textures and ...).

Let me tell you a little secret: not everyone has a PS3.

If only Sony started selling us a console that allowed people to play PS3 games. Why dont they do that?

Would be nice sure, but I'd still want remasters though...I'd rather have the best versions possible of my fav games and don't mind buying them again.

I am surprised with the comments of Xbox backwards compatibility will kill the Remasters. As I don't see why.

The developer's will benefit the least as people would already own the game and people expect to pay pennies for the old titles if they buy digital.

Gamestop will benefit greatly from BC. for example I bought all the Gears games last year from Gamestop for less than £5 each. Now they are coming to BC soon I don't need to buy the Ultimate Edition.

Also game sales are more in favour for PlayStation all new games especially in Europe are 60/40. It might be more beneficial to remaster with further improvements on PS4 only and offer BC to Xbox.

Let me give you on another secret: I dont want to touch my PS3 anymore! I want to be able to put it away and never turn it back on, its very comfortable to have access of everything you need from one point, that for me Worth the money.

I guess Beyond is still happening. I figured they had given up on it.
Demon's Souls would be incredible. Holy shit, just thinking about it gives me goosebumps.

I agree with the commentary in the quote and by the OP, not clear where Sony really goes from here with PS3 remasters. Surely The Last of Us is by far their most successful remaster project to date, there's only so many titles with that level of quality and sales potential to go around.

Demon's Souls is a candidate, maybe Heavy Rain and Beyond, but not sure franchises like Motorstorm, Resistance, Infamous and Killzone have enough public interest at this point to return the investment required, let alone a flop like Puppeteer. Depends on the effort they're willing to put forth and just how invested they are in revisiting the entirety of the PS3 era, I suppose.

Puppeteer. That's the one game we need remastered.

I always felt that would have been a much better launch title than Knack. If be OK with this. Hmm, resistance collection (with trophies for 1), Siren, Motorstorm Collection, Demon Souls (though I would also like to see them try to get it to work on Vita...), inFamous, hell maybe even WKC collection (though budget title).

Pipe-dream:
  • Persona 4: Golden

Why not ask for a Persona 4: Scooby Gang Collection with Golden, Dancing All Night (with all DLC) and Arena Ultimax (with all DLC).

Great now I really want this, especially a PS4 port of Ultimax complete.

Hmm I wonder if you espoused this the MCC announce thread or backwards comparability thread or gears collection thread. Or about the Wii u being backwards compatible, etc.

This half-assed opinion might be cool but don't try to push your beliefs on to everybody else because anyone who enjoys a good game usually doesn't mind buying it again if its enhance and at a respectable price.

I haven't bought every HD remaster but the ones I care about I welcome. That goes on any platform so it doesn't really matter what this fake argument of yours brings because good games have their audience and not a lot of people enjoy those games back then and are willing to look at them because it's on a viable and popular platform like the ps4.

If these 3 games get remastered they would instantly sell even if Sony chose to release them via PSN only. Physical copy would be best though but most would take what they can get.

They should have remastered Gran Turismo 6 since Polyphony will take half a decade to make another one.

It should've been a PS4 title (or at least cross-gen) to begin with.
Might as well just wait for GT7 now. Or release a prologue if it's still too far off.

SOCOM 2 with online support. I can't believe a franchise that launched their online effort and had great success early on hasn't even been looked for a remaster.

Will it? When?

I dont know when, but the list of games that are up for capability Dark Souls is there. hopefully it will be when the program is launched.

On the topic, How about something in the line of Rare remaster? but PS2/PS1 remasters, a compilation of 30 PS2/PS1 game remastered?

That's exactly what they are doing and they are selling a lot of consoles and games with this strategy.

I think a lot of their first party efforts hit some speed bumps so they have to fill out their lineup with games, whether they be remasters or extensive third party deals.
I agree, and don't see anything wrong with that, but I think that announcing that there are more on the way right now makes fans uneasy about how much of their 1st party will make it for next year.
I personally am not worried, but I can understand the concern.
In any case, if they are gonna do more remasters, then maybe work on resistance/motorstorm?

If a remake where it looks entirely different, then yes. Im even ok with collections. If just a remaster where it has slightly higher pixels then no. I did not buy XBO/PS4 to buy games I already own with slightly higher res. Even if it is PS2 games, that is better than doing PS3 games. Do it with games that make sense imo.

Cool for the people who support this practice, but if youre going to resell me the same games I want to see effort or a compelling reason to bring it back. Not just a quick buck.

Sony seems to be living off these remasters lately. Is there a first party studio releasing an actual new game for Sony this entire year? My mind is drawing a blank atm.
