I had not played X-Com Enemy Unknown yet and stuck it on today on Normal. Fucking hell, a complete party wipe on Normal and I hadn't saved it lol. I was so pissed I ended up going to desktop with no save so as I can start again. Not the games fault I got wiped due to a simple damn mistake I made, I had gotten a VIP to the extraction zone when I decided to go back into the level to try and capture an alien for my research. Not my brightest hour or tactics :p

I'm new to that game too and yes, I really got kicked in the pants on some very early missions on Normal mode.

What are they even working on, now that the Redux editions are out of the way? Metro 2035?

That is a good question actually.

They obviously are getting something ready as the Redux was an engine upgrade as well as getting the engine ready for next-gen systems.

Of course as the release of MGSV draws near my PC dies.

Hell i think the RMA period also recently expired, and i bought that specific brand of mobo because it had RMA in my country. Damn it all.

Most warranties are 3-5 years minimum. That won't help with the timing however.

I found out recently that the internals in surge protectors actually cannot hold up beyond one or two surges. Then your computer is at risk and you have no way of knowing. Just something to keep an eye on.

Miyazaki and From are poised to launch "several new projects."
My first thought seeing this is you meant a different Miyazaki.

I'd really like to see a collaboration.

ModBot, if we're counting edits.

For your first time, you should really play on easy.

I just finished up Loot Hero DX (thanks again whoever gave that away!)

Although I did have fun with it (at least for a little while anyway,) I probably wouldn't have if I had to pay the full price for it. Call me cheap, but you could buy so many better games with $3. The game consists of 9 levels that take about 30 seconds to complete, and all you have to do to win is hold down your left mouse button. You automatically deal damage to enemies once you run into them, so you don't have to put too much thought into what you're doing beyond buying upgrades to your stats (attack, defense, crit rate, and speed) or grinding.

And you'll do a lot of grinding, if you continue playing after beating the game the first time around. That's because after each completion of the 9th level, the enemies' stats, experience points, and money increase. So if you're not strong enough to defeat enemies before they defeat you, you have to grind on a previous level for either level ups or money to increase your stats.

There's not much of a point to play this game if you're not going for achievements, which are easy or doable for the most part, but the level 100 achievement is such a god damn slog. I just watched movies while I was grinding up for it.

I hope it's someone other than JaseC, just for the upset potential because I literally can't think of anyone else it could be. Turfster? Jawmuncher? Just going by the "Who Posted?"s in the OT. That doesn't count the OTs of previous years though, especially the ones that included Summer/Winter sales discussions.

??????

So, that Steamboy thing, the Smach Zero. They had a booth at GC. The HW wasn't there, but pre-orders will start this fall starting 299€ and the product is slated for Q4 next year. Only a couple of small-time sites have covered this so far. Is this really happening or they're taking this hoax too far? Can anyone just register at GC?

I have a thread on stand-by, but thinking this has got to be a farce, ergo a thread is pointless and will get locked.

It's so weird . Like 1 year without any activity , everybody thinking that it was just a hoax, and then suddenly they release a PR release to news source and attend Gamescim. Yet never actually show any hardware or talk about specs. I'm quite divided on it being a legit or a hoax. I mean, if it was legit we would have more information by now, but I dont think someone would go as far as going to GC for something that just a hoax...

I do hope it's true. A Steamboy would be a damn dream come true. I'm honestly baffled no one ever tried to get something like that crowdfunded...

They did send out a press release about specs months ago. A couple of sites covered it, but there was no big buzz.

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/pressreleases/246596/SMACH_Zero_Technical_Specifications.php (lol even gamasutra put in a '?' at the very end)

it actually did mention a GC showing

Jase had over twice as many posts as the second top poster (I think it was Stallion Free) when the overall hall of shame in the 25th Steam thread went up last year, so there's little chance of it being anyone but him.

Interesting. I remember a press release some months ago but it was something like "yeah, this exists, look forward to it "type of thing.
Hoping its true and they give us more details in the coming months. I'd easily buy a 300$ model as a portable indie machine.
