15 days to finish it before Phantom Pain

im a hundred hours in and still in skellige, lol

I already restarted the game about 20 hours in to play in the hardest difficulty since the beggining, but I may do New Game+ down the line

I wouldn't expect it to go up on PC (Steam or GOG) until working hours in Poland. It's currently 04:30 in Poland.
 
I am taking a break from Witcher 3 until the first expansion, think it comes in October right?

Will definitely be taking advantage of NG+ in the future.
 
So if previous threads are any indication, this is the lynchpin of CDPR's insidious plot to trick everyone into believing... something, right?

Gwent cards are reset? lol that is crazy.

"Thankfully" I didn't bother with Gwent the first time around, so I'll have something to look forward to when I do a NG+ run.

Yeah, I didn't bother with Gwent the first time around, in a play through I started shortly after completing the game, I gave Gwent a proper try and enjoyed what I played of it.

On my NG+ play through I'll dive properly into Gwent.

hey, that's a good point. Have done literally 0 gwent on my playthrough as well

sadly im already playing on the hardest difficulty. would be nice if they added a tougher one later

Im sure there'll be a mod or some such way that you can cheat all of your cards back.

Not to mention the drive to get cards is the entire point of playing Gwent in the game. If you were to go in and keep all your cards you'd barely end up actually playing Gwent at all, you'd just do so for quests and then totally steamroll them.
 
Awesome, I'll definitely be checking this out. Gwent cards not carrying over is seriously a WTF decision though. I would understand resetting the cards that are tied to quests but surely they could let you keep the vendor bought and randomly won cards? I collected every single card in my previous playthrough and there's no way I feel up to doing that again, yet I love playing gwent :(
 
Gwent cards resetting is a good thing IMO. Making people go through the grind again and playing with a bad deck would seem like something a lot of people would want, otherwise there'd be no rewards for Gwent related content and you'd just skip to the tournament or somesuch won't you.

Welp. I already pencilled Shadowrun HK for this weekend. Probably won't have time to start NG+ now.

Probably after MGSV. If I timed it right, the first expansion will come out by then.

That's assuming the player collected all the cards in one playthrough. I wanted to keep playing but continue to build my collection.

Gwent more or less falls apart once you get a strong deck with a bunch of hero cards and spies. I was forced to explore other factions and leaders to get something out of it. Not surprisingly, it become very difficult you "jump ahead" and face enemies who have a "stronger" deck (as if they were "overleveled"). The female armorer in Crow's Perch and the tournament side-quest are two examples of that. I guess you can make a comparison here to the game's combat system lol.

That being said, I still give credit to the game for being complex enough for cool, dynamic moments and victories to happen. It just happens having a stacked deck makes those moments mean little more than an odd curiosity before you overwhelm your opponent. Starting over isn't a big deal, assuming you didn't have you fill by the time you beat the game (I certainly did). I wouldn't mind an "expansion" to it though.
 
Really love NG+ but I'll probably wait until the expansion or both come out for me to slow play it all over again.
 
Would love to jump into NG+ but I just started a new playthrough with my upgraded PC after playing on PS4 the first time. Hopefully I'll be done in time for the first expansion.

Curious to see how NG+ is balanced though.

This.

Would be a significant re-script job in the coding to have the game identify with new triggers for all vendors and opponents to avoid 'doubling-up' on certain cards, not to mention several quest-lines where unique cards are the focal point and not just a mere reward.

People brazenly miffed about the decision have not really thought the necessity to reset through properly. Besides, this ONLY really affects people hoping to continue to trophy hunt the collector trophy. For everyone else it should NOT be a big deal at all for a few reasons stated in this thread already.
 
It sucks Gwent doesn't carry over, but let's be real, it really doesn't take that long to get a decent deck. Really, once you get three or four hero cards and a couple of spies, you can beat nearly every NPC in the game.

Yea agreed. Gwent could do with a rebalance or some such because the spy strategy and the fact spies tilt the game so much to the one faction that has the most makes it kinda bad to replay, esp once you have the god Northern spy deck. It's still a really well implemented minigame that's great fun tho, just not exactly full on Hearthstone.

One issue is that, in my experience, you can build a solid northern siegemaster rather quickly. With weather cards and an appropriate amount of spies and revives, you are armed with one of the strongest decks in the game from the start. From there you slowly "level up" by dropping weaker ancillary cards for those with higher power and hero cards. In comparison, it took me forever to get enough of the right cards to make the monster faction worthwhile.

Northern Realms is by far THE strongest deck in the game realistically. It's just the nature of card games, the best strategy is to play as many spies as possible, then you draw into your combos like double catapults, triple reavers, horns etc, and once you assemble those combos those cards are worth 1.5 cards because they have more power than the 10 strength heroes which are a baseline for endgame Gwent.

The core analogy is that a 5 power spy that draws you into two catapults or a 15 hero and a 10 hero that together have 5 times as much power as the spy is just that strong. It's far stronger than Elves/Monsters and it renders the metagame redundant, Northern is always going to be the best.

The issue is that the game is ultimately just a battle for spies and who draws the most, and Northern Realms has more spies than any of the others, and Monsters/Elves have a massively fewer spies than the other two factions.

Ideally they'd rework spies so that they only draw 1 card, that'd be a big change in my mind but it'd have a really positive impact, because spies would STILL be good to run lategame since a 5 power spy would be drawing a 15 strength hero. But otherwise they could/should just rework it so that the 3 non-Northern Factions have the same number of spies and you can successfully build an Elves/Monsters deck without feeling gimped.
 
One way they could have made Gwent carry over is that you have to stake a card and that you can win it back AND make it such that the stakes are high.

I'd love to occassionally win a rare item in Gwent.

Although you can get unlucky when playing someone with a monster and/or elf deck if they happen to get a lot of cards that pull cards from their deck that arent in their main deck. It was funny when I played one guy with a monster deck, he had happened to have all of his cards already in his main hand as such he placed one card and it dropped his card count from 9 to 5 making him so hilariously easy to beat in the later rounds.
 
sold the game already but cool for those wanting to do another run through.

dunno how you guys find the time to replay a game of this size and still find to play other stuff lol

Yea that's definitely true. That whole mechanic isn't really the best compared to the human s because of that exact reason, Northern's "double then double again" kinda just outdoes it because there's no bricking into cards.

The point is card advantage is the fundamental to card games kids, and Spies give you it. If you're playing Texas Hold Em and one person has 3 cards and the other has two, you pretty much know how things are going to go. And that's what happens every time a spy is dropped, especially lategame when the power of the cards you draw with spies far outclasses the base power of the spies you drop.
