Why did fanboys cry bloody murder about the ending of the last Mass Effect? Why did the creators capitulate and change it?

I'm guessing you really didn't understand people's compaints over the ending. It being a tragedy was at the bottom rung of complaints. There were so many fundamentally fucked up and stupid things in the ending that it being a tragedy didn't even register.

Oh and Bioware didn't really change the ending but more like tweak it as they realized how badly they fucked up their own universe.

I can't believe no one considers Gintama universally liked.

You disappoint me AnimeGaf.
Someone suggested it. I think for most people it's just the large amount of episodes and it not really hitting it's stride for a good 10 episodes at the earliest. (Whenever the first Takasugi episode is, it's around that point.) It's a great series to accompany something else though, because of the mini-arc format you can put it on the backburner and then jump right back in because you don't need to remember what was happening because there's no overarching plot beyond the mystery of Gintoki's backstory. And it's not like the characters are super complex and they're just played for their tropes 80% of the time.

I'd be a rich man if I got a penny everytime a glasses joke was made.

Gintama & JoJo.
Probably.

Does anyone have news on when Bakemono no Ko, is coming out in the west? I need to see this bad.

At the DBZ: Resurrection F screenings, Funimation said this was on the list of movies that was going to have select US screenings in the US (along with Attack on Titan live action and Psycho-Pass Movie).

Oh that's good I've been meaning to see The Boy and the Beast.

DTL really needs to come with a warning. I'm surprised he's lasted so long without any tag.

It's not universally liked. Personally I'm a fan, but comedy in particularly relies so much on the subjective appreciation of humor that it can never appeal to everyone.

Strictly speaking, nothing is universally liked. For any given piece of art or entertainment, there's always someone out there who won't feel the appeal, no matter how much of a majority of people like it.

Christ what is it with some websites having the worst of the worst search implementations. I'm on MAL wanting too look for some info regarding "Tari Tari" and it lists me 6 pages of shows because 'tari' is a substring of 'monogatari'. Then I google "mal Tari Tari" and immediately get the right page. Smh.

Anyways, heard this show has some darn beautiful backgrounds and wanted to see those. Story and characters are already grinding my gears though, so meh, I've got to see some nice P.A. Works backgrounds and that shall be it.

Rofl at the high schooler who just came back to Japan for the first time in 13 years. He speaks ridiculously good Japanese but can't handle the easiest bits of Japanese etiquette, e.g. completely overdoing his bowing. Totally believable, sigh.

The "But Not Too Foreign" trope in anime never goes beyond blonde hair or slight amounts of breaking traditional Japanese etiquette. They always speak perfect Japanese.

Tari Tari was one of those "decent but forgettable" shows. I don't really remember much except that Wien was the best character.

lol MAL. Remember, this is the website that refuses to add in English titles of shows.

Anyway, it's good to know the studio, staff and seiyuus involved in the show when searching in case something bullshit like MAL search comes up.

Tari Tari is an average show. It's not bad, I had a fairly good time watching it, but it's not something anyone needs to seek out.

The backgrounds aren't particularly notable either. I'm not really sure why P.A. Works has this reputation among certain crowds for always having strong backgrounds. The only show of theirs with backgrounds that strongly stand out is Eccentric Family..

Edit: Oh yeah, and if you want to research a show, just Google the show name; don't bother with using an inferior internal site search engine. MAL isn't cataloged well enough to be used as a primary source of info.

I'll be honest, the last couple of pages have had me stumped, which is partly the reason why I haven't posted all that much. I have nothing to say as I'm finding it hard to get a grasp where these discussions are going, partly because there's so many. Wish fulfillment, Bebop, Eva, overrated shows, underrated shows. I wish I could add something but I can't and what I would say has probably been said a million times over. What I can say is that I'm very excited to get my hands on the EVA Blu-ray set and that I can't wait to watch more Space Cobra tonight, which continues to be everything I wish for in an anime and more. Also, I should finish up my Kaiba review soon. Spoilers:
I wasn't a big fan of the show.

Tari Tari was just....average. Perfectly average show about some kids in high school into music.

Nothing bad about it, but nothing noteworthy either.

Which was rather puzzling considering the first volume sold over 9k if I recall correctly. Alot of people got caught off guard.

I wanted more of Prince Raj and his exploits of not meeting the girl he wants to bang. That was fun. Meanwhile, Elder Prince the Douche really isn't all that bad in the grand scheme of things apparently. Just in the little issues like who Zen fraternizes with.

I'm having a real hard time understanding how Space Dandy episode 1 is offensive in a way that somehow SAO isn't (or a host of other shows but SAO is the topic du jour). Do stripper/hostess/dance club scenes in like a million other western entertainment products equally offend you?

I will say I'm glad that your neuroscience talk seems to have been successful. Were people actually engaged by the science or was it more of an audience of "SAO is cool so anything good said about it must be cool as well"? Or perhaps you couldn't tell? Either way, I'm still interested in reading that though I'm not going to press you if you're busy.
I'm not fond of a lot of Western entertainment (honestly, I've only watched some reality stuff like "The Amazing Race", Disney films, and I've debated going back and watching Star Wars on BD before the new film), so I'd say it's consistent. I can't say that I'm a huge fan of the Fairys Dance arc in SAO and I've mentioned before there are some elements that creep me out in it, but I don't see how it's more offensive than what I saw of Space Dandy's first episode.

I got about 15 questions about the science behind it following the panel and about an hour's worth of conversation afterwards with some people. There were definitely some there that just wanted to be there due to SAO (and they left during/right after my presentation), so I'm not going to say everyone was there for the science. It was well-received though. I'm working on making it into a video on YouTube now, but other things have taken up my spare time and I'm trying to relax a little after a trying summer in the lab.

There's a number of Space Dandy episodes that have nothing to do with Honey that you might appreciate, especially near the end of the first season and much of the 2nd season. Since it's an anthology of sorts, the show utilizes its freedom and goes for broke very often. I would just pick and choose the episodes you watch.
I'm not really fond of the main character or setting either. That type of personality grates on me and there wasn't anything present to push me against the grain to give it another shot with other episodes. I've adopted a "I'm going to watch what interests me and not care about what doesn't" attitude as life's too short to try stuff that I'm not fond of.

(Also, I felt Koito's somewhat-condescending expression would be an amusing contrast to the Koizumi avatar. It's nothing to do with the story thus far. Here's the other avatars that were uploaded in 2014 if you're curious.)

From 2007-~2013, PA subcontracted most of their BG work (and art direction) to Studio Easter. Easter's done a lot of work for shows like Fate/Zero, Tiger and Bunny, Aldnoah Zero and rarely get the credit for the work they do. Here's some of their newer projects (Cinderella Girls, the Love Live movie, Red-haired Snow White). If you hear a lot about PA's BG work, look for Easter or Bamboo (who I'm personally more fond of) to have done the work for them.

So is SAO season 2 as good as the first one?

The first arc, GGO, is actually pretty good/decent with a fun heroine. The ending to the arc is laughable though, on par with the ending to the Fairy Dance arc.

The 2nd arc is whatever, but it lasts like 3 or so episodes.

The final arc adds much needed characterization to Asuna and is kinda bittersweet. You'll like it.

Yeh MAL is shit in just about every regard but at least it's relatively good for finding information regarding recent shows.

I'm not really aware of any alternatives, especially ones that are up to date.

Pillow Boys 06

This show really reminds me of someone practicing a role for a play by themselves and just reacting to the other persons line despite them not being there.

I figured it out.

This time the Pillow Boy just fell asleep on his own. What the fuck? I don't think it's supposed to work like that. These things seem like ripoffs.

The Eccentric Family 01

The OP is pretty good. The ED is whatever.

Interesting first episode. The show looks really good with nice fluid animation, pretty backgrounds, etc. The character designs are somewhat odd, though. I don't really know what's going on, I suppose that's fine for the first episode.

I hope the next episode which looks like the introduction of all the characters will hook me.

Are there any must watch series this season?

No.

Basically just Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma, but that's from last season (continuing).

I enjoy Charlotte in the same mindless way I enjoyed other Key works, but I think the majority of people here think the show is bad.

People who want something with substance and character development, you know, the most important aspects of media.

I was under the impression that the most important aspect of media was disingenuous emotional manipulation lacking in any sort of tact. The feels if you will.

Diamond No Ace Season 2 Episode 20

FFS this Coach Ochiai is pissing me off, totally the type of coach i would hate the most. I wish someone like Miyuki would perhaps unexpectedly rat him out to Kataoka and finish this stupid bullshit. It's tearing the team apart.

New op. It's okay. Not as good as the last one. I do like seeing everyone from Starlight though. New ed is also alright. Not as catchy as the last one. Of the new girls, Rin is the superior one. More energetic, better reactions, dancing is an interesting quirk, nice design, and she uses Futuring Girl. Madoka seems fine as well, though she's too much of a follower for the moment. But now there's Angely Sugar and Futuring Girl idols rooming together. Just as the previous ones move out. Just a coincidence I'm sure. Naoto finally becomes a teacher. I guess he was getting tired of giving all that advice for free. Band equipment doesn't pay for itself.

Am on my Shin Sekai Yori rewatch and damn, even the BD version didn't quite make up for a lot of the weak animation/art during episode 5-7. Art direction still makes it work somewhat at least but man, if this one had higher production values...

I'd be lying if I said I was expecting the flashback to end like that. Puts an interesting spin of Worick and Nicolas's friendship.
