Dishonored: DE (PS4/XBO) - In the days that follow, your trials will be great

Missed out on the original so im debating picking this up. What's going on in this topic thats got everyone up in arms?? I still have time to cancel preorder and pick up in store if I decide to change my mind. Thanks!

Basically Bethesda hasn't confirmed resolution or frame rate yet, that's all.

Dishonored was a great game and ran fine on previous gen consoles so I'm sure it'll be a great buy if you never played it.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

We just don't know the quality of the port yet. I am going to assume it will be 1080p, 30 or above fps and better textures. Not too mention all the DLC included.

Or any visual enhancements. Textures, lighting, anything at all really. Nothing about anything new lol.

We don't know the quality of the port, so some on gaf are having an aneurysm and saying this is the biggest "fuck you" from a developer in their 30 years of gaming.

Jumping into the thread. Had the game preordered, but decided to cancel and wait for the first impressions.

Let's see if it's worth 20 bucks!

I just think it would be disappointing if the port would be indeed fucked up. Dishonored is a great and unique game that deserve some love if ported! It would be a shame to give this game a broken release! Why even bring it out again when zero fucks are given?!

And some others are paying for a game out of spite

Ah yes. Cuz that's exactly why I'm buying the game. ... It's enjoyable seeing folks get wound up over nothing, but I'm buying it because I want to play it on my PS4 with the dlc. I don't care if the developers give me further information.

That's why people are so passionate about this -- Dishonored is a brilliant game that deserves a really great port. This isn't Prototype we're talking about here!

I hope you guys all realize, it's just going to be one of those lazy port jobs with some slight graphical upgrades and nothing else.

Just messing. But I would never blindly buy a game with no advance publicity...

Well, unfortunately I pre-ordered on PSN. Thankfully the digital upgrade was only $20. Either way, it was easily one of my favorite games from last gen. As long as it runs decently enough, I'll be playing it.

good for you if you're willing to get the game because you want it. That's awesome, the developer will be happy.

I on the other hand don't plan to give them money if it's a lazy port. I already played it in 360, and if the port is lazy I'll play it with my friend's steam family.

I never played the DLC and don't own the game (even though I played on 360) 20 bucks is literally no big deal

if they're just giving us the same exact thing we got on the 360 it's a lazy port. We know it's not a graphically intensive game that a PS4 couldn't handle, I'd like for it to be 60 fps minimum. Anything else is a bonus

What do you mean by "exact same thing on 360"?
It's pretty much a given that no changes have been made to the gameplay.
We should reasonably expect 1080p, a solid consistent frame rate and PC textures. Asking for more is unrealistic.

For me lazy port means full of bugs, inconsistent frame rate and crashing.

Saints Row IV did this. It sucked.

No one is asking you to do that.

Wait until the game releases, read as many reviews as you'd like, and then decide to buy or not to buy the game based on that information.

So them not advertising or giving out details is just fine. Should all dev's just not release stuff, and we should just wait on Reviews. There should be information out so I can make an educated guess before the game releases (like I do with many games). I understand that I don't need to buy it day one, and trust me I won't.

Please define "lazy port" people!!'

It definitely differs from person to person. For me, it's doing the bare minimum to a port and not even trying to get it close to the superior version while fully well knowing the hardware could do it. Still fully playable and enjoyable ofc, but nothing to write home about.

Stuff like Prototype aren't lazy ports, they're shit ports.

I take it you don't respond well to sarcasm.

If that was sarcasm, you're not very good at it. Murray would be disappointed.

They are free to market it as they see fit. Contrary to popular belief, publishers are not obligated to market an item that is not likely to sell a ton of copies.

What kind of logic is that?

If they realise that its probably not going to sell a ton of copies wouldn't they want to market it to get more sales. Also why even bother if they don't think its going to sell a ton of sales.

Its ridiculous that they're not putting out a single tweet about frame rate, resolution and additional features. That's all we ask for.

Who gives a shit?

Wait... I should have posted that Harrison Ford gif so you could see the manner in which I am saying the above. Since I didn't spell it out that I was using sarcasm in my other post; need to make sure we're all clear.

Too bad you didn't post it since it's bannable.

What do you mean what logic is that? They're relying on word of the mouth.

It's ridiculous to act like you won't know these things soon enough.

It won't mean a damn thing come Tuesday.

All of that info will be available and everyone will be able to judge. If it sucks you will know and you won't buy.

Well, after seeing that picture I too went to my local Ontario Walmart and found it for both systems. Tried to buy it and the machine wouldn't let it go through. So instead of impressions tonight you get this sad anecdote.

You would have been the second coming of Jesus if you managed to purchase it.

Well...
I hate dlcs and want to have them on a phisical format.
That reason is enough for me to rebuy it.

Originally I was afraid to invest on a bthesda game on ps3 as they tended to be buggy and in adition I was afraid of it getting tons of dlc later on. So I got my original copy used and it was the game i was playing when my second Ps3 got bricked.

I never got the currage to play it again after that...

Yeah they can do that, and suffer a horrible launch because of it. Totally their choice just not smart IMO they could have just typed a dev blog and news sites would have spread it.

How do you know it will be horrible? It was mentioned at E3. People do know about it. Once it's out in the wild more will know too.

In my experience, if a company is about to launch a product they generally like to inform the potential customers about it ahead of time.

In my opinion, if they're going to go to the trouble of porting the game to the current generation, surely they could whip up a screen shot and a list of improvements. That really would take only an hour of someone's time.

Then we know what we're getting and more people will preorder or buy it at launch, rather than waiting and potentially never getting it.

Just my thoughts on the whole thing.

This should all be common sense, yet somehow there's still a defense force for this poor release.

Hey don't worry man, not everyone can be funny.

The action is appreciated but a consumer shouldn't have to do this for others to get information, which is the whole argument here.

People know about it? It's coming at a window where a bunch of different games are coming out. Outside of the listing in the PSN there has been little marketing or mention. Not even here on GAF is there much interest. And with no marketing or information? It might have a long shelf life. But that's basically it.

A blog post or a tweet is fine. A 90 second YT video would be better. That we're not getting even a forum post about this release is making people justifiably skeptical. Developers and publishers have lost their benefit-of-the-doubt with a lot of consumers for good reason.

The point i'm trying to make is you'd think it be smart to have some commercials airing or some info on your game to have it floating around peoples minds. I don't know if there's an example of a game with no advertising or info on it's changes out there to compare this too. But, I can't imagine launch day blowing up with massive sales. Even you suggested that I wait and don't buy it on launch day. Do you dis-agree with that point?

ZombiU port a it was even worse, no price, no preorder, no resolution info, neither fps, PC specs or any visual enhancement, just a trailer two weeks before it launches and some streams a day before its release.
