Night Dive is pretty much my favorite dev and I really like Turok back in the day so why not
I don't know the guy and have nothing against him personally, I'm just bewildered by what went down with Powerslave.
Why? It's basically wasd plus analog. It was perfect.
Perhaps a mistake? A screw up? a misunderstanding?
Not a big deal, it will come out eventually again.
BTW, is kaiser involved with this production I assume? I have yet to check his blog.
Both games "will be re-mastered for today's modern computers with enhanced graphics and other improvements," the developer said in a statement.
"Night Dive Studios believes that classic video games should never be abandoned or forgotten," the company says. "They should be available to play at any time, run out of the box without the hassle of installing outdated drivers, or using obsolete hardware. Movies are restored, books are digitized, and art is preserved to be appreciated for all time. Why should games be any different?"
I've always wanted to play Turok but instead I got that generic trash experience on the PS3. The gods, must be shining upon me because I've been hoping to play these games without the hassle...
The truth. This is the kind of game developer that understands the medium.
People shitting on Turok 2 in this topic should be introduced to the Cerebral Bore.
Most fucked up and best weapon ever..

One weapon doesn't make up for a shit game
Turns out this is Turok EX, the port done by Kaiser. So it's safe to assume this'll have native controller support and other niceties that the originals did not. I also believe these are based off the N64 versions, not the PC ones.
The worst part about playing Turok 2 on a N64 controller was cycling through all eight hundred terrible weapons. Anything that required extra buttons outside of walking/shooting was a pain, really.
It is? Do you have a source on that?

There's a pretty credible source, the creator of Turok Ex himself .
What's the main difference between the old PC ports and the N64 originals?

Missing music, slightly different effects times, performance differences, stuff like that.
It would appear that Turok 2 PC at least has a much higher quality soundtrack at least.
N64: https://youtu.be/ewFnCWyXyEk
PC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BroB8vFCUyY
But yeah, some tracks appear to be missing from the N64 version.
I, uh. I generally like the Turok music but maybe not that particular track

The PC version of Turok 2 is a considerable improvement by virtue of letting you save anywhere
and not running at 3 fps.
(Speaking of Acclaim, would be cool if that same group also got hold on the PC release of Extreme G II. Another neat game held down by performance on the n64...)

Edit: It grows on you though.
Edit2: I wonder if it's possible to port Shadow of Oblivion to PC somehow.
Thanks for the suggestion! Myth are definitely on our list. Who knows what the future holds?

He updated his Powerslave EX blog.
These games are apparently on a new engine and were created much like the Doom 64 port was created it sounds like, so it's definitely possible for 3 and Rage Wars to be ported I'm thinking. I assume if these sell well Night Dive will put resources into that.
I sure hope so, I watched some Shadow of Oblivion gameplay and it looks really fun. Awkward to control on the N64 controller though, but with proper mouse/keyboard control it'd probably be a fun shooter. Quite a looker for a N64 game too. I think it and Perfect Dark are two of the most impressive titles on the system. Which is funny because the controller sucks for FPS games.Well, this guy also make Doom64EX so everything is possible!
Yeah he does the 64 version. Just like how powerslave was done from the superior PS version.I sure hope so, I watched some Shadow of Oblivion gameplay and it looks really fun. Edit: Wait, does this mean they actually ported the N64 versions to PC rather than modifying the code of the current PC versions? Man that's crazy, but hey, we did just get a Dreamcast port of Grandia 2 a few days ago.

What is Doom 64 EX?
Doom 64 EX is a faithful recreation of the original game using the Doom source code as the base with the benefit from newer control methods like mouse look, high resolutions and color depth. In addition to that, Doom 64 EX will also feature mod support to allow users to create custom levels, textures and sprites. Doom 64 EX is also aimed to be 100% accurate to the original game as close as possible and offer some PC-specific features that can enhance the game.
What is Kex Engine?
Kex is the codename for the engine thats being used by Doom 64 EX. This is a heavily modified Doom engine which will eventually be used as a base to create original games and remakes of other classic console games that were never ported to the PC
I AM... TUROK !
It seems that the PC versions are running in true 16/9 and with a better FOV. Exactly what Turok 2 needs (and a stable framerate too) : a better FOV !

Turok 1 was smooth.I remember those games running at like 15fps. The jump to 60 will be glorious.
