Is there any news concerning the bonus chapter coming to psn as dlc? bought the normal retail and would still like to play it.

No, it isn't. I had no issues, and this is the first I've seen this complaint.

Then you haven't paid attention to this thread. Numerous people, including myself, have had a poor experience with the audio mixing. It may be specific to certain setups, but it is indeed the only game I have ever had an issue with the voices sounding like they were recorded in an empty warehouse, in comparison to the pristine clarity of the music and sound effects.

I noticed that even if
Jessica
survives,
Mike still identifies the head as Jessica's when it rolls by him and Sam
.
You probably killed her on replay and then skipped to the final chapter or something which makes the game revert to your original playthrough save. Or it was a bug. If you keep everyone alive there are no heads.

Just started playing this, excited!

But WTF is up with the audio/speech mix? It's horrible.
Seems to be an issue with the way they recorded stuff sadly.

Is there a way to chapter select mid game? Only got options to resume and start a new story.
Sadly not. Kinda annoying considering some had game breaking bugs and it killed their entire progress lol

OK, an extremely small percentage have complained then. I've read through a lot of this thread and have not seen any. Or in the reviews. So not too sure what's going on with your setup.

It's not really a chapter. It's only a very small scene.

ok, good to know. Thanks. Still I can't shake the feeling missing out because I really enjoyed my time with the game and i would have loved to have more. But until this releases I might have gotten over it.

That's weird, but I remember seeing some other people complain about it too. I never had any problems with the audio whether playing with a surround system or a headphones. I wonder if it could have something to do with the PS4 sound settings.

I like this a hell of a lot better than Heavy Rain or Beyond Two Souls. That said I still don't think it's worth 60 dollars.

I rented it and thought that was enough. That's the problem with these games unfortunately. Maybe 20 bucks I could see it but the production values and polish really doesn't make this a good genre as far as recouping money.

I think if you enjoy this style of games Until Dawn is as much worth 60 dollars as any other game. I had absolutely great time first playing it by myself and after watching my wife play it. Now I'm currently playing my second playthrough and enjoying it as much as the previous. So soon I've already been the game through three times in a such a short while. Without a doubt one of the best gaming experiences I've had this year.

I like to think of it as buying a single-season bluray of a tv show.

Yeah I don't know what it is. But I've watched streams. Probably seen it through 8+ times and platinum'd it myself and I still love watching others play it. I didn't even know some chapters have different titles till I saw Markiplier's LP.

Tonight, I play Until Dawn! Super pumped, I've been avoiding this thread like the plague for fear of spoilers.

You guys said this game isn't scary! This game is scary! Freakin jump scares all over the place!

Well I'm a huge horror movie buff and found it to be scary. I think it's scary even on my second playthrough, it just requires the right setting and the mood. Alone at night with headphones set to a proper volume should do it in most cases. The level of immersion I've with the game makes some of the jump scares really effective and the overall atmosphere of the game is just so menacing.

Really loved this game, picked it up after the surprising reviews and I'm glad I did.

Mops the floor with Quantic Dream and Telltale's story driven games with real choices and consequence

There are jump scares, but they're not scary.

That said, jump scares usually get me. A lot of these didn't for some reason, even though they weren't bad.
The jump scares are like 50/50 sometimes they get me, sometimes they don't.

But when I say scary, I mean it's friggin scary! That Ghost, and the dolls, and then she jumped at me!

I see people talking about that part like "meh". and I'm like "can I get some of that nerves of steel juice!"

yup yup, some of the jumps I'm laughing at. But sometimes, I have to turn the game off for another day ;-) lol...got me watching comedy movies cuddled up with the wife!

Yeah, if this released at 39.99 usd then it's almost an impulse buy. I red boxed it and as much as I enjoyed it, I'm glad I didn't pay 65 bucks for it. Will probably pick up it during a Black Friday deal because I want it in my collection.

The first few chapters this game wasn't scary to me at all but then all hell broke loose and I'm jumping all over the place. This game is awesome!!!

I think it's worth $60 but for those who aren't big on this genre I can understand. $40 would be the perfect price point. I think everyone would be on board.

FUUUUUUUUUUUDGE!

So I just completed the game and lost two all together on my first play through....

Jess died because I missed a button prompt early in chapter 2 or 3 she died at 00:12 no big deal I felt like I was gonna lose more

Did really well through out the rest of the game and got to the last chapter...

From two of the totems I knew that Fire was gonna be bad for Matt, and that at some point I needed to be perfectly still with Sam... And sure enough I save Matt as to not blow him up but when I called for the Wendigo I had to be perfectly still and I swear I didn't move but the controller registered me moving and Sam got a fist in the belly....

Damn but still really pumped only losing 2 on my first playthrough but would've been much happier only losing 1....

But great game altogether.

I want to invite friends over to play but it's one of those things I feel you have to invest time into it daily and that's hard. I don't feel like you can play 2-4 chapters one night with friends and be like same time next week. It's gotta be same time tomorrow and the next day till its done.

Paid full price Worth every cent and I'm not done with my 1st play through.

So I completed this earlier with the same group of family members from yesterday, they just had to see it through lol. Holy shit are the last few chapters tense. We were all legit scared lol. A few stopped taking turns to play, instead just watching as the pressure got to them and they didn't want to be responsible for a character death lol.

The story was solid, but the ending could have been a little better. Still mightily enjoyable though, especially the way we just fucked things up last minute, otherwise we would have had only had one death! Will probably give it another play through for an all surviving finish, or just to see more deaths lol.

What a FANTASTIC way to start my owning of a Playstation 4. Game is a ton of fun and these models and graphics are insane. I'm pretty early in but it's tense. I get so scared I'm gunna lose somebody.

Yeah precisely this. Came off MGS5 which has fantastic audio mind you.

Voices sound like they are recorded in lower quality than the rest. Game is really good so far though. Praise be to fixed camera angles! They work really well here.

Yeah, the game has a good audio mix in general but the voices sound a bit off, especially in the first few chapters. They're soft and sound like they were recorded out of a tin can. It gets better later on though from memory.

Just finished it. Amazing game. I can't believe how much I enjoyed it. I knew I'd like it but I'm so surprised at how quality it all was. I feel like the game hit everything I wanted it to and it was really original. Bravo

I am 100% satisfied with this game and can't wait to see what else this studio puts together.

Game's alright. Too many jump scares and OOGA BOOGA didn't really do anything for me. I liked some of the characters, and I got some characters killed because fuck em. At least the characters I liked lived to the end.

Damn guys, makes me just so happy to read all these positive impressions. Great to see an unique game made with a care and understanding of the subject matter and the genre get the love and recognition it deserves. I'm currently on my second playthrough and I still find myself thinking the game daily.

Personally for me this was one of the most anticipated games of the year and I'm more than happy it lived up to my exceptions. It's not perfect, but it's not supposed to be and I'm always more forgiving when it comes to the more unique style of games. I expect Until Dawn to be high on my best games of the year list. I was fully expecting to love it since my favorite genre is the old style point and click adventures and I'm a fan of Heavy Rain, Life is Strange The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us and even to a bit lesser extent Beyond and also enjoyed Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit back when it was first released.

Just finished this, and wow..quality right there. Biggest surprise of the year for me and honest to god contender for goty (having already played and finished bloodborne and witcher 3).

Oh well, first death time and it was
Josh. Ended up having Ashley and Josh with the saw thing between them. I figured if I didn't touch anything it wouldn't get either so I didn't use the lever thinking that'd send it straight down the middle. I don't feel to bad, something about Josh's face rubbed me the wrong way and anything that happens from this point on is his fault so it's only fitting that he should fall on his sword/saw first.

So I just realised I missed out an entire chapter of the game. I think something to do with Sam and a baseball bat? What the….Also missed out on three major video recorded jump scares. No idea where those would have been, but gutted I missed them as I'd have loved to see everybody's secret scare reactions lol.

To see the baseball bat bit you need to spot it, choose the right conversation to put it in position and choose the right option when the time comes to use it so not surprised you didn't see it first time, I didn't either. Still it gives you another reason to play through it :)

Nice set-up. I'm jelly.

Enjoy the game, too. It's awesome.

I still can't believe it got a 4/10 review score.
Some people just hate this kind of genre. HR got the same scores from a few outlets with the sole justification of no gameplay lol. Metro scored UD 6/10 and basically said this is as good as its gonna get for this genre, meaning that particular reviewer will score most other games of this type below 6 just because.

Heavy Rain still branched more and had way more unique endings and an entirely different final chapter. UD is second best though and gets the award for best illusion.

You only missed a tiny scene that doesnt really affect anything
