As far as I can tell this so far just really effects all of the plastic model kits from the new Force Awakens movie and not stuff from the older movies (or figures for that matter).

Probably Disney had to do after complaints from Revell who holds the model kit license for the States and is making their own line of (honestly relatively crappy) kits.

I will know a lot more in a few months...

That makes sense. There have already been a bunch of japanese sw figures released already.

I wouldn't worry about any of this, if you have the figuarts preordered.

That kinda blows. It looks like the only way to get these now is to either go to Japan yourself or have someone you know there get 'em for you.

And pretty much all of the other figures and licensed Hasbro stuff. The only characters that seem to turn out ok are the 6 inch black troopers.

The new Black Series figures are pretty great. There's been a few duds as well but the overall quality's been consistently good.

Speaking of Japanese SW merchandise
This is such a great line of figures. I have Vader pre-ordered, as well as Samurai Boba Fett. Already have a samurai storm trooper.

I just hope I can still import them in the future. Really sucks that it's happening.

Wow! The Bandai one looks amazing and the Hasbro one likes a cheap Chinese knockoff.

Hasbro ones are cheap as fuck tho and they have this sort of unified price with all their similar lines (like marvel figures).

The saddest part? They're still better than their western competitors, compare Marvel figures to DC figures and...well, it's basically like the comparisson in the OP.

Disney is gonna Disney.

This is what people feared.

They've been terrible with Marvel toys as well.

Yup. They also lost a few hundred theater screens for Ultron due to a boycott, Disney's business people miss the forest for the trees.

Revell and Hasbro aren't even worth the plastic they're made with, but hard too hate too much...Bandia should stop cheapening out when it comes to contracts (as long as it doesn't affect the quality X_X)

I'm not a toy guy, but this is really stupid. Do they think people interested in the Japanese toys will now buy the shitty Hasbro toys because they can't get the others?

I forgot just how gross Star Wars can get with merchandising since it's been 10 years since the last one, but fuck everything surrounding the movie is almost making me not wanna see it. Good thing the movie looks good.

Forcing people in the US have to buy shitty Hasbro toys over figure kits from Glorious Nippon.

Though, Disney could come in and say that because of "huge demand" they would stock Japanese figure kits on their online store.

And promptly get sued by Hasbro for breaking the licensing contract.

It's irrelevant if there's a single toy sold or not. Hasbro probably paid a lot of money for exclusive US rights.

I would like to think the lightsaber should at least have some effort in it.

The hilt looks like a hot dog with plasma in the center.

I love the bandai kits for the droids. I have a few duplicates completed and still boxed. They fit the black series very well.

So far it seems just Bandai's 1/12 scale models have been removed. Hopefully the SHFs remain available.

There really is no comparison.

That's a particularly bad picture of the BS Luke. It's great in hand. There are some really weird paint choices on the other figure. Golden hair?

But that isn't my problem as a consumer. As a consumer, I want the best product available. If Hasbro wants my business, make a better product.

As I said, I'm not an action figure guy, so it really doesn't matter to me, I just don't like the idea of being told I can't buy something.

I haven't heard anything from my supplier so I hope they can send me some of the SH Figuarts figures I ordered without an issue.

Does this block exports to other countries?

I bought and made these kits from Hobbylink Japan a while ago, Bandai's making some amazing stuff and I'll be so fucking mad if they release TFA kits and I can't get them.

I think the idea is to get them removed from sites that ship internationally. The english AmiAmi and Hobbysearch for example no longer have the model kits on listed for sale.

I'm actually talking the regular 3.75" figures that used to have knee, elbow, waist joints but all the sudden don't.

There's actually a 3.75" Black Series line coming with all that articulation returning, but it's Walmart exclusive.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
The Figuarts Jedi Luke has a great-looking face, but the mid-torso seam and leg/hip joints look like shit. The hair paint is lol. And the Black Series one supports the infinitely superior open collar look.

That is exactly what's happening. You wont be able to get any of the new TFA kits shipped to you from HLJ or other sites. You could get them from other sources in Japan though like ebay or other sites. HLJ can still ship kits based on the old movies though it seems.

Actually since you are one of the few people that post in the scale model thread I would help you out except I'll be going through a move here in the near future and won't be settled down till December or so. If you atill need help after then let me know...

Well that.. sucks. I don't get it though, I was under the impression that Bandai had the current rights to make SW model kits, recently handed over from Fine Molds. Not sure what Disney has to gain by blocking me from buying model kits...

Anyway, that's a generous offer thanks! I'll see how it plays out, there's nothing in their line up that I desperately need for now.

As mentioned earlier in the thread.

Hasbro paid Disney for exclusive US rights to a number of products.

If Disney doesn't abide by the terms of the contract (which typically includes enforcement) then Hasbro gets to sue Disney for lots of money. This would include not just the license fee, but also things like lost profits.

It's not Hasbro. Hasbro doesn't care about model kits nor make them. It's Revell. Revell has produced their own line of inferior model kits for the movie and feel threatened by Bandai's vastly superior products. Haven't seen any evidence at all of the ban being applied to anything other than scale model kits.

Ah that makes more sense. Bloody Revell.

It's funny because companies like Hot Toys and Bandai never had the Star Wars license until Disney took over, but now we're getting cockblocked when it comes to quality stuff anyway.

Oddly enough I haven't bothered with any of the Figuarts Star Wars stuff yet anyway. I've heard mixed reactions to them, though obviously they blow anything by Hasbro out of the water.

I would love to edit some sort of clarification into the OP, is this just model kits that have been affected? The only real update I received is in relation to the new release date for Darth Maul.

Amiami has removed every single star wars revoltech figure, except Vader. They're all up on their Japanese site....... HLJ has them all up, but they have most of the old model kits up too. They also removed the R2 and R5 kit...... There has too be more to this... What other reason is their for the pulling of the Revoltech's?
