lol i know it sounded like a crazy joke but... you know... this is Metal Gear... and all I see on the OT is Mission 40-50 black bars and then 'f you koji' or 'omfg' insanity
so i'm half expecting something that crazy or absurd haha
I don't know if this is a regular occurrence or if something specific triggers it, but one time after returning to the ACC, there was a little cutscene where the camera was zoomed in on snake's face and you hear a chilling death scream sort of echo in the background (like it was inside snake's head).
obviously helps keep you alive if you're almost dead and trying to escape, and blocking chasing bullets from hitting your back but... shields protect against grenades, too, and that sort of 'explosive defense effect' is still active even when it's on your back and operating a walker
plus it just looks cool to be be in a camo walker with camo armor and big green Diamond Dogs shield
Anyone else stuck with Carrie-Boss? Im completely covered in blood (i would imagine the most blood that Boss can be covered in) and ive taken hundreds of showers but still I remain tainted. Switching to Solid Snake skin doesnt show the blood, but as soon as i switch back to any regular skin, bloody.

Ha! Kojima's brilliant. I guess thats why it happened after I did free roam and killed everyone in Afghanistan with the knife. Hmmm i guess i need to save some kids or something eh? Whats the best method for getting back to normal?

I think the Diamond Dogs that appear in certain cutscenes may actually be your actual units...
I watched the (Mission 20-25 or so minor spoiler) Mother Base scene with
Eli knife fighting the DDog soldier
, and after it ended, I quickly checked our his face and stats... and I was able to find him in my actual unit. And I recorded the cutscene too to double check to make sure if the 'unit' that was standing there after the cutscene was the same, and they look exactly alike...
I wonder what other Diamond Dogs for other scenes actually just use the model of an existing Diamond Dog unit? ...I mean, if the game can just 'game data' to change Snake's appearance, then why not do the same for Diamond Dogs in certain scenes.
So, the other DDog scenes, such as this one with Ocelot training handguns and the bullet jams on the one soldier... I wonder if you were to check his stats after that cutscene ended (he's standing right before Boss and Ocelot before continuing on guard duty), if you could also find him in your unit
which makes me wonder, how do they pick which DDogs to put in scenes if technically I could have different soldiers than other players depending on who I've recruited, who has died, etc... that cutscene above that I linked, I'm pretty sure it's always the same DDog, so maybe he's not based on an actual unit? any chance anyone have a video of the the first Diamond Dog scene that I described
Eli with the knife
I wonder if it's always the same DDog for every player, how do you end up with him in your unit? could the game always have the same guy in the cutscene but randomly spawn a very similar looking DDog to be standing there when the scene ends? I mean, the game could probably just use 2 variables like hair and skin colour, and randomly pick a similar DDog to always be standing there after each scene...
in any way, it's kind of cool to think that a lot of the Diamond Dogs are not actually as random or generic as they originally seem to be... like, certain missions and even certain SIDE OPS always give your certain Diamond Dogs... and now even certain cutscenes appear to even be using Diamond Dogs from your actual unit. would be interesting to try figure out this more, and compile more data on it.

you can't it's just there are 2 shields, one is grey and one is olive drab... different DD logos too
Yup, one of the doctors I rescued in one of the Angola-Zaire missions was in another Mother Base cutscene. That's a really nice detail.
BTW, does anyone know what happens at max heroism? At 100,000 I got Hero status which seems to have some sort of FOB effect but what wait for me at max?
Ive honestly never noticed the ..Thing on his sneaking suits back looking like that, I just always thought it looked like a fat little Metal Gear Ray with short fat arms up in the air from the back haha
If everyone dismantle all the nukes in the game, everyone will get a cutscene saying that the world doesn't have a single nuke anymore. It's a very nice cutscene, try to find it on youtube.

I was monitoring some guards at an outpost in Africa, and it started to rain. So one of the soldiers i was looking at through my binocs was trying to light his cig. The rain was causing problems, so he proceeded to go to the nearest area with a roof and try again.
A lot of people saying they don't care for Kojima at this point (when it comes to writing/directing) should be reminded he's also responsible for all these little touches.
There is no need for quiet to leave you can finish the game with her and get mission 45 and 46 i did it so everyone can, but you have a long path for it
an update, for the user who modded the game to (SPOILER)
Get her back
, i only say that they don't have the patience to play the game
